  • I would love to eat cheerios from the beak of a goose

  • Thanks for the comment - time to do some more

  • Thank you for sharing this. A set of spoons to make "SPOON", very creative. All show some real imagination.

  • 1:23 looks very nice, and also looks quite "ergonomic" for lack of a better word.

  • @Febeleh the nice thing about these spoons is that if you dont like one you will surely like another.

    Thanks for your comment

  • Yipeeeeeeeee, 400,000 views in total on this channel - my current channel is under craftsmank.

  • @LexTalionis92

What more could one ask for?

    Many thanks.

  • Do you have anything in the way of forks?

  • @DLuckyFNP done the occasional fork - interesting question - perhaps its time for some more.

  • amazing work.. keep the vids coming :)

  • Exquisite work.

  • Very Nice. What type of wood is it okay to eat and drink out of???

  • Three people thought spoons referred to the act of spooning someone

  • this is almost as creepy as saladfingers.

  • Hi, I was wondering if there is any precautions to choosing wood for whittling to make pipes, spoons, etc. I know that some woods are considered toxic but I'm not sure if this means I need to learn to identify all different types of trees for safety reasons before I start learning bushcraft. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • @HandsomeSasquatch

Yew,laburnum,Olive,Sumack,Rhodedendron, these are the main ones to worry about.

Literature and information on toxidity is hard to find and often misleading.

Olive is well known to cause lip and mouth sores - Laburnum the toxins are more in the seeds and leaves but like yew it is present , unlikely to kill. Sumak contains what appears to be an anesthetic - Rhodedendron made me blind in one eye for several hours and was very painful - just a tiny speck.

  • why you didn't show the spoon you use to smoke your crack?

  • You amazingly turned an eating utinsel into art!

  • Amazing, thanks very much cool video and amazing spoons .Do you happen to know how to bend twist and well generally wood?

  • @mrbobdog261

Of course, its what i do for a living.

So glad you like the video.

    Cheers

  • "I ATE HIS LIVER WITH SOME FAVA BEANS AND A NICE CLEANTIE AHHSSTTSS!"

  • one of the reasons i made these is to see what practical applications can come up from simply letting go - "art" is an excuse for a lot of things, so perhaps this is not just art.

  • i dont really have the proper curved knives or anything to make a spoon but i'll soon have a nice little mora knife so i think i might take a bit of silver birch wood and have a go at making a spoon, maybe tie a bit of sandpaper round a bouncy ball or something to smooth out the bowl, primitive but i figure it should work, enjoyed the video too and you have a very comforting voice by the way :)

  • @ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz

I dont know how much of this site you have seen, but there are some spoon carving tutorials you might find useful.

Craftsmank also has some tool sharpening tips(video)

  • @craftsmank ah great, cheers, had only seen this one but i'll take a look

  • I love your spoon sculptures.I make spoons and sculptures myself, but usually don´t mix up the two categories.Great work.Inspiring

  • @vatulastreefactory

Thank you so much - i was hoping that other makers would take on the idea too.

Have you seen my other video on this site - extreme spoons?

  • how about making a tree shaped spoon in honoring the life of all the trees that were use in making these crafts

  • coconut shell might make a great material to work with

  • Stunned. There's a blessedly fine line between genius and insanity. You have demonstrated that the two are inseperable. Wonderful.

  • beautiful sculptures! , thank you

  • Amazing wood carving. Excellent.

  • I am here to inquire about your spoooooooons

  • You sir, are quite skilled.

  • Absolutely awesome artwork....your sensitivity to shape and contour is extraordinary.

  • your voice is amazingly relaxing!

  • #3 the flying duck is my favorite.

  • Nice work and skills, but come on. You have way too much time on your hands ;D

  • Dont get me wrong i appreciate the beauty and skill of this work... but i can't imagine using any (except maybe the snake one for some reason) to tuck into a nice bowl of Heinz cream of tomato.....

  • thanks. i enjoyed your video and talent.

  • QUACK QUACK

  • Extraordinary pieces of wooden art you are making there! I haven't seen something like that anywhere else. Beautifly gentle curves and shapes that are going a bit offset in to Abstract way of looking at piece of cultery. To simplify Amaizing job!

  • "elegant twisst on the end there"

    "what is this, a cat?"

    soo funny and random!

this guy is truly talented and obviously has a deep passion for carving wood. i've carved maybe 3 simple spoons and recognize how difficult it is! he is surely motivated! Thanks for the video craftyman!

    Cheerio good chap!

  • Thank you, youve made my day!!

  • that guy is serious about his spoons man...

  • i just have to ask... why spoons? you have some beautiful skills. why stick to the spoon theme?

great work. im not criticizing, just curious. =)

  • once you can carve a spoon you don't realloy want to stop (or at least i didnt) coz it was so hard at first

  • you have realy spooned it out. nice video

  • nice spoons, this guys voice reminds me of stewie from fmily guy

  • nice art some very interesting designs

  • How much mariguana did you smoked before making the video

  • Great work! Your pretty amazing at wood working

  • Very talented craftsman, but I'd have to agree with Gan. Why do so many craftsmen/artists have to go to the "philosophy" or "deeper" into it. They are spoons, very cool spoons but I don't think they need to be explored. My video for this would be about 10 seconds long. "hey I made some spoons, thanks for watching."

  • Im delighted my work is considered important enough to warrant all these comments - thanks.

  • Modern living tends to make people shallow - the questions we used to ask ourselves we no longer do, we simply turn on the box and it all goes away - everything is disposable with a limited life.

    So why bother with Philosophies?

BECAUSE IDEAS ARE WHAT WE ARE MADE OF.

Everything we do or say comes from an idea - if you foreget that then YOU ARE DISPOSABLE TOO.

I certainly dont want to be.

If you watched the video instead of simply scanning it you might get more out of it.

    Cheers.

  • @craftsmank but at the same time inovation has made the lives of so mnay simpler i bet you use machines to make them if you made them by hand that way you have a craft a skill so i may say that will make you disposeable and you are only as worthless as you think you are so in my eyes i am not disposable i am reusable

  • You can go deep in the spoon philosophy if you repeat the word spoon more than 1000000 time.

me is tools philosophy, after repeat 2000000 time, the tools become my graal

  • ok. welcome to the 21th century we use metal spoons that are bought from the store.

  • ive been in the woodworking world for 35 years - for quite a while turning was my forte, (still is but only hand copyturning, or component making)but that became a little tame as there were so many "experts." Spoons, had and still does have vry few exceptional talents, the possibilities are mostly unexplored - boored? only boores are boored. (an academic point perhaps).

Perhaps youd like to have a go,particurlarily as the field is still wide open.

  • SPOONING thats what a spoon is forr

  • BONKERS

  • i take that back, you are the man!

  • Thank you - time to get to work.

  • you metamorphosized a spoon into a duck...... impressive quality but god damn do something with your life.........

  • NO U!

  • all you are doing is posting bad comments on peoples videos...

  • Wow! Your spoons are amazing! I love them!

You are so artistic and creative! thanks for sharing your wonderful spoons with us. =)

  • great spoons. But you need to get out more.

But you are a good craftsman.

  • Youre quite right. Unfortunately i find it hard to mix - very few i meet are cool enough.

On the other hand i have very few influences.

Will be posting much more shortly under craftsmank.

    B

  • That's really cool work! What's sort of the wood these spoons are made of?

  • Many different kinds, the letters are made from American Tulipwood, the ducks are mulberry, the cylinders mulberry, and the bowls laburnum.

  • amazing. never thought you could make beautiful art from spoons. Do you by chance sell your pieces, or are they for personal enjoyment.

    Beautiful. A truly, unique talent.

  • Heysan, i sell the spoons.

The ones in series i have to make copies of but that should not be too much of a bother.

    Contact me via craftsmank.

    Bertie

  • Ahhh shall we call this the Philosophy of Spoons? hehe.

  • slikti

  • This gives a totally new dimension to spooning HAHA. I wonder what he smokes....I like it alot though....

  • Thanks for your comment, just what i need to hear.

  • We love to spoon x

  • Great work, and a valuable lesson in the need to explore all avenues of design within a 'simple' subject to gain a greater understanding of form. Love your work, and many thanks for showing it.
