Also the core belief making you a muslim is saying that there is no god but one and that the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) is the messenger. So unless he goes out and says that isnt true than he is muslim.

What makes a person Muslim his belief that none is worthy of worship except God and that Muhammad (saws) is His Messenger, establishing the 5 prayers, almsgiving, fasting in ramadan, and making the pilgrimage.
