  • Awwww its the stupid remake!theres a reason stanley changed the book! cuz the book sucks!

  • @br1ns4n Okay first thing this is not a remake it is a re-adaptation of the book by Stephen King himself because he was dissatisfied with Kubrick’s lame movie. Second point, the book trumps Kubrick’s mediocre excuse for a horror movie. I bet you have never even read the book, I fucking guarantee if I asked you what happened in a certain chapter you wouldn’t be able to answer as you never even read it, you are just used to the movie and will defend it like a righteous Kubrick fan

  • @br1ns4n And if you did read the book which I doubt a bet you put it down with the ridiculous s excuse of ‘‘this is nothing like the film.’’ From the way you spell and articulate yourself it is very fucking clear you are not a reader just another mindless film buff..

  • @br1ns4n Kubrick didn’t understand horror and he certainly never knew how to successfully craft a good adaptation . The Shining novel is miles better than Kubrick’s shite film. Which is just a mediocre pretentious movie being upheld by its directors name nothing more. If the 80’s film was exactly the same but with another director helming it, the film would be forgotten and dismissed as nothing but another lame Stephen King film. .

  • @br1ns4n Oh both Shining movies suck the book is way better

  • @EndlessLaymon Yes i have read Parts of the book but i didnt even finish it becuase it was so lame! Then i watched stephen kings version of the shining and that was even worse then the book!

  • @br1ns4n I don't even need to argue with someone like you; go check any review site, people are on my side here. The shining by King is considered a top notch book. I bet you watched Kubricks movie first and thought it was great, with it's hammy acting from Nicholson and all and disliked King's book when you realised how different from the movie it was - like it is King's fault that Kubrick changed a lot. You say the book sucked...why because it had depth unlike Kubricks shallow film.

  • Pause 3:23

  • So much more terrifying than the film's version of this scene.

  • I loved the movie but after reading the novel I felt Kubrick's adaption was lacking the true horror of the original work. The book scared me WAYYYY more than the original movie.

Looks like this one follows the book verbatim, I must watch it!

  • "That was... UAAH!" :D

  • in fact Kubricks version doesn't even deserve it's title for being a poor adaption

  • Kubricks version sucks it doesn't stay true to the book and yes I read it I love this 1 more cuz it did stay true to the book plus Kubricks was boring to me not scary

  • well this really gets me off

  • The Kubrick version may have been better in some peoples opinion, But obviously stephen king hated it. Hence the re-adaption (NOT remake). Kubrick detracted from one of the main plot-points in the story, that being jack's alcohol problem. Look It up on IMDB.COM,.... Originally i saw stephen kings version on tv around '97-'98, before i saw or new of the 1980 version. I did love kubricks version, but much prefer kings version, as it told the story in so much more detail.

  • this like taking a shit in stanley kubricks face

  • Kubricks IMO Was far better

  • Kubricks ALL THE WAY, his version is in EVERY way FAR better than the re-adaption!

  • i'll never get shower curtains -.-

  • @Rose6643 If u dont get shower curtains you'll end up like the woman in Pysco

  • @CoDWARRIOZ had shower curtains too. They are evil ^^

  • @CoDWARRIOZ The woman in psycho ended up the way she did because she HAD a shower curtain, not because she DIDN'T (see how that works :-) )

  • That dead lady is way scarier in this version.

  • @JeffWithAnF Ahh yes, a little scarier. BUT, the chick in the original was Much hotter (Until jack kisses her that is)

  • danny, that was real swell that you escaped from the woman in the bath tub. you sure managed to get that door open. you got out of that hotel room just in the nick of time. you sure showed that woman that she can't get you. by the way, danny, i think you should move a wee bit further away from--------. oh, never mind.

  • The kid's performance was absolutely awful. If nothing else, he was what ruined this miniseries.

  • just heard that Stephen King is making a sequel to the shining which follows Danny when he's about 40 or something... i gotta admit.. i urinated a little..

  • I didm't know that there were two shining films. I'll have to check this out.

  • I used to break radios, until I took an arrow in the knee.

  • I stood in this house a few weeks ago when i went to colorado.

  • I didn't know there was a remake

  • @667766667 This is not a remake of Kubrick’s movie. This is a re-adaptation of the novel with the script written by Stephen King himself.

  • that's what you get for cheating on your wife...

  • Good scene but...NO! You do NOT remake the shining.

  • @grgemclr1992 This is not a remake it is a re-adaptation of the novel. The teleplay was written by the author of the novel which Kubrick based his movie on.

  • just like pictures in a book

  • WHOA CRAP at 0:19.

  • I like this bathroom version better. so much more creepy, the white eyes among the rotten flesh.

Jack nicks ones was some lady with dirt on her, wasn't scary at all.

  • the first scene in a movie to ever scare me as a kid

  • why is the subtitles in swedish?

  • @RustInPeace97 Because the site I downloaded the clip from was Swedish.

  • @EndlessLaymon aha:)

  • the women wasn't as creepy as the kid's face when he saw her.

  • 1:27 yeah , i just escaped a crazy psycho and the first thing im gonna do is to stay RIGHT IN FRONT of the bitchs fuckin door ....this kid is stupid as fuck

  • Stanley Hotel

  • 0:31 is well done and still scares the shit out of me, the old lady in the original shining isnt as scary as this one.. but the original movie is really good and of course better than this shit. jack nicolson is a genius actor

  • It's like the director of this movie has NO freaking idea how to create tension. In the book this is one of the scariest things ever and here it's just comical. Stupid bucktoothed little kid, goofball dialogue from the woman, actually showing her walk across the room the whole time... pathetic.

  • Personally I think this scene is pretty badass. It scared the shit out of me at 18, I'm 32 now and just had the balls to look it up for the 1st time since.

  • I feel like Kubrick's film was like many of his other works, stronger on artistic expression and unique camera movement, if you prefer this to that by all means enjoy this if you want but don't try and convince me this is superior because it's not.

  • This version would have been much better if the father wasn't so violent with the domestic abuse.

I mean in the first third he starts to fall apart

The second third he very poorly strains for control

The third part he is just totally violent non-stop!!!!!

  • Kubrick's version was false and overrated. People just lionize because it had Jack, and Nicholson is a name.

  • Man, when i saw this film for the first time, it scared the shit out of me.. This woman is sooo creepy

  • Shit old lady creeps me out.

  • Where can I watch the full series online at?

  • @MKCaseyB Netflix :)

  • i was 6 when this came out, and that "green lady" as i called her was the damn scariest thing i had ever seen. i hadn't been able to bring myself to look it up until just now, and i slightly regret it.

  • @alicecooper91 Oh, I used to call her that too. I was absolutely terrified and ever since then, as pathetic as it sounds, I cannot leave any shower curtain closed while I'm in the bathroom.

  • @alicecooper91 Dude, that's exactly what happened to me. I was scared to close my eyes while showering. x(

  • what a piece of shit!

  • stupid kid, y no u run when you get out?

  • Stanley Kubricks version was a fucking masterpiece with a capital M.

This one is fucking pathetic with a capital P.

  • @HazxHD Yeah well...that's just like your opinion man.

Both suck when compared to the novel.

  • @EndlessLaymon I mean in motion pictures not literature

  • @HazxHD Yeah I mean both movies including Kubrick's are shit and a joke. The novel trumps them both. But the miniseries is little bit more enjoyable than Kubrick's and tells its story better.

  • @EndlessLaymon Yarbles!Great Bolshy yarblockos to you.

  • @kildare97 Fucking what?

  • @HazxHD For sure. I understand the intention to make something that more closely followed the novel's plot, but the acting in this was laughable and the scares about about as frightening as a Goosebumps episode.

  • I have no problem with King remaking this because it was his story .. but in no way was let me in better then the original , even chloe make up was horrible to twilight like.

  • @chanceie12 Chloe did better in the role than the original actress, I felt and cared about the kids in Let Me In I didn't give a fuck the characters in LTROI Let Me was better directed better acted and had a fine story which was focused and had brilliant story structure which is more than I can say for LTROI.

  • @chanceie12 even chloe make up was horrible to twilight like.-? What the fuck are you trying to say here?

Now please stop wasting my time and making such a bitchy fuss over someone not sharing your opinion about a film and please stop spamming my video and fuck off.

  • @chanceie12 Just because a film may be foreign and cheap doesn't make it a masterpiece you know. I have never read the book so I don't know which is film more faithful but as films go Let Me In reigns superior than LTRIO which was a good idea but wasn't executed that well. I will go with the critics and BloodyDisgusting on this one.

  • Comment removed

  • @brande2274 Actually I have just finished reading the novel Let The Right One in and Let Me In is better than both novel and movie. And I never said the book was better than either movie you silly bastard seems you are the fucking retarded cunter here not me.

  • @EndlessLaymon you know what i'm just going o forget this whole thing ever happened

  • @brande2274 .So, don't get bitchy because you made yourself look like a dumbass and wasted my fucking time.

  • Let me in is in no way better then LTROI .. you are an idiot if you think so the kids in the american were like wood .. that has made me really dislike you and i dont even know you. and the departed isnt better then original either , you obviously havent seen the originals.

  • @chanceie12 Um who are you speaking to? And yes Let Me In was far better than LTROI and have seen both movies and Let Me Nn is vastly superior.BloodyDisgusitng were right on the mark with their review of Let Me In. The kids in Let Me In were better actors and had more chemistry than LTROI and Let me In was more focused than LTROI and so on. And also you come like a ignorant cunt if you dislike people and label them idiots for having a different opinion than you

  • @EndlessLaymon betetr chemistry my ass!! , did you see the bedroom scene with oskar?? if that isnt chemistry then what is.

  • @chanceie12 No the actors in the original were bland and lifeless. LTROI was just an okay film while Let Me In is fucking excellent end of discussion. But why are you responding I thought you disliked me because I share a different motherfucking opinion than you anyway?

  • @chanceie12 I have seen the originals to all of the movies I have listed as well. Why would I say otherwise?. Now if you are going to keep acting like fanatical motherfucker get the fuck off my video.

  • @chanceie12 Yes, LTROI was definitely better. EndlessLaymon maybe just didn't like the subtitles or something stupid like that (thus giving him or her the impression the Americans were better)

  • safe*

  • im saThe door opened! Now let me just stand here in front of the open door where the creepy old lady tried to kill me!i'll b...AHH *dies*

  • Steven King was unhappy with the Kubrick version and produced this himself. I LOVE the movie version, and saw this only once when it aired originally. The actors are more approprtiate and in this 1, Jack was not crazy to start as Jack Nicholson was in the movie, and Shelly Duvall as wendy was horrible casting.

  • I remember this scene as well when I was about 6 or 7 this scene scarred me and I was afraid to bathe or go down any dark hallways etc. Props to this scene

  • I was twelve when this came out and I remember it scaring the crap out of me. lol

  • Cant that kid close his mouth? All you see are teef!

  • This scene alone made me fear taking showers as a kid, because i had to close my eyes when i shampooed. I had this image of that lady in my head. Scared the shit out of me.

Needless to say I was a pretty smelly kid back then.

  • @123456789 pretty!!!! She's a piece of bullshit!

  • I didn't think the re-adaption was that bad, at least it followed the book more closesly, I'm not sure why Kubrick changed a lot of the story in the original one, i.e Halloran gets killed and the Hotel doesn't blow up at the end.

  • I watched that scene with the woman in the bathtub for the first time when I was 7/8. That scene kept me up a whole summer. I imagined that woman was around every corner. I was so terrified by that scene that my Mum spent the whole summer sleeping in my room. Gives me chills having found it again.

  • That used to scare the shit out of me

  • This is much better than the original. Much more true to the book, and the dad actually seems sane until he got to the hotel, unlike Nicholson, who was crazy from the beginning of the movie.

  • I <3 this and while I love Kubrick, I consider Shining to be his worst film. My 1 rule when it comes to movies is that if you're adapting a book, do it right, & if you make changes have the blessing of the creator. Kubrick broke that rule w/ this. I also love how the True Grit re-adaptation by the Coen Bros. was closer to the novel and I hope one day V for Vendetta will be re-adapted to be exactly like / close to the book to heal the wound that upset Alan Moore over it butchering his book.

  • She's Pretty..

  • THIS IS THE RING LMAO SOO THEY GET IDEA FROM ALL THE MOVIES N CHOP IT UP FUCK IT LMAO I LOVE OLDDD SCHOOL MOVIES I KNO THIS ISNT A SCARY MOVIE BUT YALL SEEN THE PLAYERS CLUB LOL FRIDAY NEXTFRIDAY I LOVE OLD MOVIES MORE SONGSS TOOO

  • i expected kubrick's

  • almost had a heart attack 0:20

  • why did he run out the room with out closing the door, theres chairs so you can wack her

  • i love that women she always made me laugh

  • Remakes always suck !

Only Originals are made to last forever !

  • @TheChefKev Well that doesn't apply to this mini-series.

It is not a remake it is a re-adaptation with the teleplay written by Stephen fucking King who penned the book which Kubrick based his fucking movie on. You do know that The Shining is based on a book don't you?

Oh there are remakes better than the originals as well.

  • @EndlessLaymon So you think this crappy actor is better than Jack Nicholson ...why!?

-,- and tell me one remake thats better than an Original Movie Classic?

    King Kong-FLOP

    Godzilla-FLOP

    Karate Kid-FLOP

    Planet of the Apes-FLOP

    The Fog-FLOP

    House of Wax-FLOP

  • @TheChefKev I'm bored with arguing with Kubrick ass kissers. I really am. Anyway, I will respond to your silly comment, regardless.

    1. I never said anything about the status of acting from either movie. But as far as I am concerned, Nicholson's acting in The Shining was hammy, goofy and over the top and was more amusing than chilling. Even spielberg claimed this observation.

    2. Remakes better than originals: The Fly, The Thing, The Hills have eyes, Last house on left, The Departed, Let me in

  • @EndlessLaymon In my opinion, an ax is a much better touch than a mallet...

  • @TheWildcat131 I can see your point. But I feel the axe and the croquet mallet both work as well as each other.

  • @EndlessLaymon Let Me In was so not better than Let the Right One In, and as for the Shining miniseries, it is something I would expect from an episode of Goosebumps. The swing sets swinging on their own, etc. Very cliche. The actors were far superior in the original, Jack Nicholson, Shelly Duvall, and Scatman Crothers all deserve their good reputations. The cinematography, buildup, and mood are better.

  • @TheChefKev Well, I'd say that the Dawn of the Dead remake was pretty good, but still not up to jack. Damn.

  • @TheChefKev

Automatically i know which Godzilla your talking about but which King Kong are you referring to? I hope its not Peter Jackson's because i think that one more than lives up the the original.

  • @TheChefKev -,- and tell me one remake thats better than an Original Movie Classic?

    No problem:

The Thomas Crown Affair, Ransom, Insomnia, True Lies, The Italian Job, The Fly, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Father of the Bride, Little Shop of Horrors, Scarface, The Thing, Ocean's 11, Cape Fear, A Fistful of Dollars, The Magnificent Seven, The Champ, and A Star is Born. Off the top of my head. :)

  • @OniLordMiki I agree completely, remakes get a bad name even though there are some great movies to come from stuff like that, I wouldn't say The Thing from another world wasn't good even though I love John Carpenter's version and I think both Magnificent Seven movies were good and I thought Dawn of the Dead 2004 was a good remake of George Romero's classic.

  • @TheChefKev I guess you've never seen The Thing or The Fly

  • @TheChefKev thats retarded. The Fly (1988), The Thing (1982), and Cape Fear (1991) are all remakes and are all genuinely more terrifying than the movies they were based on.

  • "... everywhere a boy,boy."?????

  • The Shining isn't a mindblowing film, and Kubrick has done better, but. I can safely say that it's better than both King's book and his tv miniseries (the latter sucked majorly).

  • @molcoo No. None of the Shining adaptations even come close to being half as good as the book in my eyes.

  • this is one of my favourite horror movies

  • If they made "The Shining" now I wonder what it would be like...

  • @SimiSoprano , it would be directed by Michael Bay and it would be fucking shit. That's what it would be like..

  • @HermonieG1 Cool story, bro.

  • This scared the shit outta me. :'D

  • Movie sucks without Nicholson.

  • Omg instaed of standing in front of the door id be running 2 the nearest exit

  • The Kubrick version of The Shining SUCKS! it left out loads of the best and scariest parts of the book and it changed things, like having an axe instead of the roque mallet, and how the book actually ended, Jack did not freeze to death in a maze!

  • @wickedlovelylady the book is retarded kubrick mixed tings up and made a amazing movie

  • @HermonieG1 Are you for real? Have you even read the book? Most likely a hardcore Kubrick fanboy aren't you? Most likely haven't even read the novel that inspired Kubrick's movie. Which for the most part is bland and tedious. Well I also don't really take people who throw around the word retarded seriously. Read a fucking dictionary and increase you vocabulary and and also try to articulate better criticisms. The books is superior to Kubrick's mess of cinema.

    Peace.

  • @HermonieG1

The book is not retarded, you are. Mixing things up like that when the film is meant to be based on a book is ridiculous because then you might as well not say it was made from the contents of the book at all if you are only going to go f*cking with it and change the story, Stephen King himself said that he was not happy with the changes, he was outraged because they "mixed things up".

  • @wickedlovelylady I Really Dont Care What Stephen King Said, I liked The Movie, Btw You Used The Word Retarded

  • @HermonieG1 Oh..jeez. Sigh. Let it go. Face it not everyone enjoys Kubrick's movie. Deal with it it's only a film you know. And Stephen King was correct with his statements regarding Kubrick's The Shining.

  • @wickedlovelylady You judge the movie based on how it deviated from the book. It should be thought on its own

  • Damn. When I was reading the book this part gave me nightmares.

I came here to see how the movie is and...

    all right,

it didn't help at all ._________.

  • I wasn't very satisfied with Kubrick's movie either, but I just can't imagine someone else as Jack Torrance other the Nicholson.

  • I appreciate that they used a croquet mallet in this version.

  • I hate the nerdy Jack in this movie!

  • old greg was in the shining?

  • @zabrak999 Be real will you. And he Shining isn't a masterpiece , it is not even close to being a great horror movie. Read the book if you really want to experience The Shining.

    Peace

  • I loved the book and remember being disappointed by the Kubrick film when it was released. But having recently revisited the Kubrick, and now having watched this clip, which is in detail more like the book, I have to say that I have come to appreciate what Kubrick brought to the story. This remake, while faithful, somehow lacks the atmosphere and tension of the original Kubrick film.

  • Omfg, instead of just standing there outside the door i wouldve kept on running 4 my life

  • where's johnny!

  • @jinnwarior I don't know he wasn't a character in the book.

  • The book is pure gold and tops both the movie and miniseries.

BUT whereas the miniseries was more faithful to the book and characters, the Stanley Kubrick film created the feeling of !DANGER! and visual terror in regards to the hotel itself.

  • I've seen this film once. I don't wanna watch any more... I liked it, it was good but it was so depressing and scary. and one thing I really don't understand: why did he just stand there ain front of the open door? as he did this, escape was totally futile. great film anyway.

  • King, Kubrick took you to school mate!! deal with it and move on

  • @tripanna Well I can tell that you are mindless Kubrick ass kissing fan boy . How did Kubrick take King to school? By destroying a perfectly great novel that would make a fantastic horror move if done right? Kubrick didn't understand or grasp the novel and in turn made a jumbled mess of a film. Have you even read the novel?

  • @EndlessLaymon kubrick, king did school you so stfu

  • @bubbaXzone Good argument brilliant rebuttal pal it really put me in my place *sigh* just another mindless idiot troglodyte fanboy who most likely hasn't read the book. And somehow gets all bitch hurt because someone doesn't have throbbing erection for Kubrick's lacklustre film.

  • I haven't seen the shining but I looked it some of the scenes up on here and this one scared the living shit outta me, the woman looks so creepy, if I was that kid I would fucking ran through the damn door, nevermind trying to open it.

  • WHAT?1 WHAT THE HELL A REMAKE?! REMAKE?!!!!!! oh, its crappy remake because King wasnt satisfied with kubrick's.

Kubrick is, like, my favorite director...

  • @facecheek This is not a REMAKE it is a re-adaptation of the book. King wrote the teleplay as he was dissatisfied with the treatment Kubrick gave his book. But both version pale in compression when compared to the book, read the novel if you want the really experience The Shining.

  • @EndlessLaymon You're forgetting that the shining is one of the greatest films in history

Let's face it, this adaption of the shining is terrible

  • @zabrak999 Both versions of The Shining are terrible,

And Kubrick's Shining is far from one of the best films ever made it is not even one of the fifty best horror movies ever made.

So no I didn't forget anything, both movie and miniseries are laughable when compared to the book, King made terror and trepidation drip from those pages. Both adaptations are just forgettable fluff

  • @EndlessLaymon Except you're forgetting that shining is widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time

    wikipediaDOTorg/wiki/The_Shining_%28film%29

    OH. Also, Kubrick.

  • @zabrak999 The Shining may be regarded by some critics as a great film but that doesn't really mean fuck all to me. I don't follow the herd I don't like a film because somebody tells me I should, I am my own person and can form my own opinions thank you very y much.

And what was the link supposed to prove?

  • @zabrak999 And who cares if it was made by Kubrick- I guarantee if The Shining was made by a no named director it wouldn't get half of its praise with regards to it is goofs and poor hammy acting . It is an average film being upheld by its directors name nothing more. When the Shining was first released it didn't get half of its praise because it is a subpar horror move. and far from being one of the best films of all time.

  • @EndlessLaymon So? There's plenty of times where critics "got it wrong" at first. A lot of masterpieces are like this, even. Hell, Kubrick's own 2001 a space odyssey was famously like this as well.

  • @zabrak999 Yeah and most critics get it wrong when they say The Shining is some masterpiece. Oh 2001 is acutely a great film The Shining isn't . I can form my own opinions I just don't blindly like a film an regurgitate others praise for it because I am meant to like some film for whatever reason. I can make up my own mind. You can follow the herd and blindly tell yourself The Shining is a great film but not me I have standards.

  • @zabrak999 I don't share this love for Kubrick because I am meant to. The Shining is a mediocre movie being upheld by its director. Without Kubrick's name attached The Shining would be dismissed as the poor excuse for a movie that it is

  • @facecheek typical 15 years old kubrick fan! learn to make your own judgement and watch other movies before having a "favorite director". that scene was scarier than the whole kubrick movie..

  • @facecheek not crappy dickhead

  • And mom wondered why i didnt like to take baths...

  • lol when he was counting its said "Sex"

  • Does this movie still have the creepy scene with the bear?

  • @thereptileking1 Not too my recognition no. But it has been quite a while since I have seen either adaptation of The Shining.

  • damn this scared the fuck out of me

  • @xboxed720 omg me too. I get shivers all over my body everytime i see this. :-/

  • @paypointpal idk why that kid has such a small brain that when he gets out he just stands there i would've crossed the Atlantic ocean by then.

  • @xboxed720 lol I would be right behind you. I certainly wouldnt be standing there admiring the wallpaper.

  • @paypointpal but like i said that kids stupid. i would also try to find someone who has a gun and shoot the hell out of that zombie until its dead!

  • just imagine if you woke up next to THAT.

  • why the fuck does he look at her for so long?! i'd be halfway beguim by then!

  • IT'S A MOVIE....PEOPLE....NOT REAL>>!!!

  • Dude that lady creept me out. I didn´t find the real shining that scary at all, though the sillentness and the weirdness made the movie scarrier, especially because there was constantly that loud screeching music that made my eyes twitch.
