I go to work at the same time than my neighbor who has a Cayman S and we often find ourselves together on the highway exit just by pure luc, he seem to always look at my 2007 HR Z like it was a piece of shit and I never had the balls to take him on the highway. Not that I care what he thinks but would love to surprise him, even tho I can't kill it keeping up like that in the video would be enough for me.

good race, but i'd prefer the manual in a 350z. if it had been a 370z i believe the race would of been even. even though the cayman s is the best competition for the 370z it still slightly beats it, but for half the money give me the 370z

@Mikew995 I own an auto 350Z and have been to the track with it many times. I have beaten as many manual 350Z's as I've lost to. The differences between manual and automatic transmissions as far as quickness is concerned has been blurred in the past decade. Heck, nowadays the 370Z is faster as an automatic so I doubt a 6 speed would 'trounce' a Cayman. It's still a slightly even match with the edge going to the Porsche.
@shinjakuroi Well considering the 350z with the automatic transmission makes over 10 hp less than the manual version and actually uses the engines power to run its hydraulics i would say it would be quite a difference..... and it is.
@Mikew995 Sorry, I don't know if you read what I posted. I do own one, and in 3 years of taking this car to the strip and track days I still have yet to see much difference between an auto and a stick. The 350 was the first auto car I'd ever bought, and I was worried about that when I got the car. The first 6 speed Z I ever raced I beat, and that washed those worries away. While stock I ran an 8.9 in the 1/8th, I've seen few stock Z's do the same or better at the same strip.
next time use the tiptronic after 2nd gear, if you leave it in D the car shifts from 2nd to third and 3rd to 4th too early. not sure it wouldve helped ya win, just sayin...
@03basesedan I shift em all manually with my auto :-). I tend to spin a lot through first which leads to a WAY early shift most times. I let up to shift at 6K on the shifter from 1st, 6200 from 2nd, and well third holding up gets me to like 105-106 mph in 3rd so I am out the back of a 1/4 mile.
@dsm2xtreme yeah, your ratios are def. better for the top end on that 1/4mi. i have having to shift into 4th right before the end of the strip. if you can get the revs a little higher in 1st you might see faster times!
yes 350Z beats these any day of the week. I know this from personal experience. But beware, not all 350Z's are made equal. That's where a lot of the misconceptions come from. Only the '07 and "08's have the VQ35HR engine. That's the fast one. older ones with VQ35DE don't measure up.

350z just sucked balls in every way. 370z, much better. Better interior, roomy trunk, and Synchro Rev match. Man, I liked that during test drive. Of course, underaged teenagers wouldn't care/understand about any of these. But I prefer the boxster/cayman. Little kids don't understand the feeling of mid-engined cars. You guys that argue a Porsche versus a Z must be children. First the new Boxster S, 2009, does 0-60 in 4.5...with PDK and launch control. Second, what the Boxster and Cayman provide that the competition doesn't is unreal handling. If you've driven them and then driven a Z, you will realize the Z doesn't even compare in handling. Calling the Cayman or Boxster a girls car or poor man's Porsche...that is retarded. They are both real Porsche's that are $60K or more...not exactly for the poor.
Couldnt agree with you anymore. The Z may be able to hang with the Cayman in a dragrace, but line these two up in an actual circuit and the porshe would leave it in the dust. Those things really do handle like nothing else.

@andersonb76 I have owned both.. the Cayman feels sterile.. while it's faster (maybe) than my current 370Z 7AT.. it's not as much fun.. it's just too well behaved, with the 370Z it wants to drift and generally feels more lively, the engine feels more torquey and the gearing is better.. the only thing here in the uk is road tax is more. The Cayman S also costs nearly twice the amount like for like (new) has a snobby reputation for the most part and costs more to service and maintain properly.

2. That wasn't a Cayman S, it was a base Cayman because it had the black brake calipers. Horsepower is 245 horsepower and only 201 pound feet of torque, but MUCH lighter by about 500 pounds (3300 for Z, 2800 for Cayman)
That extra $30k isn't supposed to just buy you better performance. As soon as you sit down in a Porsche, you know why it costs twice as much.
My father has a 350Z, and the power door lock buttons are the same that you find in a Sentra. He owned a Boxster S a few years ago, and the overall quality & refinement of the car is far above that
of his 350Z.

You're speaking from the ignorant American point-of-view that straight line acceleration and speed is all that matters. A truly high-performance car handles well under acceleration, but ALSO under turning and braking. Put the CaymanS and 350Z on a real racetrack, and the Porsche will murder the Z.

Sounds like you have some issues. S2000 isn't even in the same class as a cayman s, seeing as it has a measley 4 cylinder 237 hp engine under the hood. @ByronSW32 porsche is pissed they are lieing about the nurburgring time. They called bs, had their driver take the car around and couldn't get close to the time that nissan said. They called nissan and nissan asked them if they needed lessons for their driver. I would agree with porsche. There is no way the GT-R is faster than a GT2 by 5 seconds.
@MangoSmoothie16 lieing? really? cuz back when I commented about 10 months ago or so, Nissan only put up a 7:38 or so. now the GT-R is in the mid 7:20 range. I think around 7:25-7:26 if Im not mistaken. I know for a fact that the GT-2 will wax the GT-R in a high speed race or a race past the 1/4 mile. but the all around performance, I would say the GT-R is better. I think the GT3 is a better track car than the GT-2, and the nurburgring is just 1 track that requires an all around performer.
@ByronSW32 nobody can get a 7:25 nurburgring time for the GTR except nissan. porsche had their driver try it and he couldnt get low 30's and I can bet that porsche hired one of the best drivers in the world. Chevy also agrees because it claims faster than the ZR1. I do agree for the price the GTR is better but I dont think its faster than a ZR1 and GT2 around the track.
@MangoSmoothie16 probably true. I dont know who the GT-R driver is, but I didnt believe the 7:25 time either. I do think that when a Nurburgring time is posted though, they should have a designated driver drive each car to determine its time, and not everybody's own driver. That being said, I think that the Viper ACR would have an even better time. A better driver as well as reduce the downforce on the rear wing a bit, and the ACR would be a beast on the ring.
@MangoSmoothie16 thats exactly what im talking about! lol. Just like on the Top Gear track, the stig or like Lewis Hamilton or somebody, should be the designated driver. The Stig is the best! and yes, the ACR has potential to be a freakin god, but the downforce of the rear spoiler only letting it reach about 165-170mph is killing its speed on the long straights of the ring.

i think it is so funny how everyone knows more than the next guy. STFU! let me tell you something. a manual Z in essence should be faster. nissan gives the car more power from the factory to make up for the loss in shifting. a professional driver can make that shift as efficient as an auto car, but most people can not. that is why most automatics win when they shouldnt.
He was racing on "D" mode. Had he used the manual overdrive and shifted at redline, he might have stood a chance. Far as i know my Z, there's still a lot more power to squeeze even near the redline.
even in manual though, considering both cars are stock, the Z is slightly mnore powerfull, with slightly more torque (were talking +- 10 bhp and 10 ft/Lbs)
this probably wont make up very much for the extra 660 pounds its lugging around,
stock figures suggest the stock cars should be fairly evenly matched though

For half the price i'm pretty sure the Z is well worth its money. I cannot say the same for the porsche. If you have the money and don't care then buy a porsche. If you want value in your dollar like most adults then buy a Z and use that extra $30k+ to dust the porsche and pay for your kids college.

I just ignore simpletons these days, they are Jealous and having a hard time excepting.

@andersonb76 I have owned both.. the Cayman feels sterile.. while it's faster (maybe) than my current 370Z 7AT.. it's not as much fun.. it's just too well behaved, with the 370Z it wants to drift and generally feels more lively, the engine feels more torquey and the gearing is better.. the only thing here in the uk is road tax is more. The Cayman S also costs nearly twice the amount like for like (new) has a snobby reputation for the most part and costs more to service and maintain properly.

Ok a couple things
1. "you people are stupid wtf an automatic porsche when have you seen an automatic porsche?" SimpleRaffy: There's a very good chance that Porsche was Tiptronic, which shifts MUCH slower than a manual transmission and Tiptronic has been around for a while lol
2. That wasn't a Cayman S, it was a base Cayman because it had the black brake calipers. Horsepower is 245 horsepower and only 201 pound feet of torque, but MUCH lighter by about 500 pounds (3300 for Z, 2800 for Cayman)

That extra $30k isn't supposed to just buy you better performance. As soon as you sit down in a Porsche, you know why it costs twice as much.
My father has a 350Z, and the power door lock buttons are the same that you find in a Sentra. He owned a Boxster S a few years ago, and the overall quality & refinement of the car is far above that
of his 350Z.
The Z is a nice car, but there's a reason why it's only $30,000, while other cars are $60k

You are not getting the point. I totally agree with you on that, I will not argue BUT I AM SPEAKING OF ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Speed/ Power and you are sitting here telling me yeah It's 60k we might be the some what equal speed but my porsche has power door locks that look like a lambhorginis so that's why i paid 30k more! My dear sir Guys like me that have served in Iraq twice do not care about some comfortable seats with fancy powerdoor locks and GPS We care abt the SPEED and a 30k car racing 60k

You're speaking from the ignorant American point-of-view that straight line acceleration and speed is all that matters. A truly high-performance car handles well under acceleration, but ALSO under turning and braking. Put the CaymanS and 350Z on a real racetrack, and the Porsche will murder the Z.

Sorry, but no. Porsches come factory-equipped with high performance suspension, brakes, etc that you would have to get aftermarket on most other cars.
BTW...I'm not a "balding fat short jew" but I do take my Porsche out on tracks, and have passed quite a few Z's and S2k's both.

I agree with you on the boxster being more a girly car but not the cayman. Cayman is straight up track car. It's not surprising that it won Motor Trends best driver's car for this year beating out cars much more expensive and the new 370z.

Sounds like you have some issues. S2000 isn't even in the same class as a cayman s, seeing as it has a measley 4 cylinder 237 hp engine under the hood. My guess is that most of those balding fat short jews didnt have to sell their souls to buy their porsches because they have much better jobs than you. Perhaps you will have one of those jobs one day and be able to afford a real sports car -- I doubt it.

i wouldnt say murder the Z. but the cayman would win. I would hope so for double the price. and i dont think porsche would let a Nissan beat them. unless you are driving a GT-R that is. lol. porsche is still pissed about that one.

@ByronSW32 porsche is pissed they are lieing about the nurburgring time. They called bs, had their driver take the car around and couldn't get close to the time that nissan said. They called nissan and nissan asked them if they needed lessons for their driver. I would agree with porsche. There is no way the GT-R is faster than a GT2 by 5 seconds.

@MangoSmoothie16 lieing? really? cuz back when I commented about 10 months ago or so, Nissan only put up a 7:38 or so. now the GT-R is in the mid 7:20 range. I think around 7:25-7:26 if Im not mistaken. I know for a fact that the GT-2 will wax the GT-R in a high speed race or a race past the 1/4 mile. but the all around performance, I would say the GT-R is better. I think the GT3 is a better track car than the GT-2, and the nurburgring is just 1 track that requires an all around performer.

@ByronSW32 nobody can get a 7:25 nurburgring time for the GTR except nissan. porsche had their driver try it and he couldnt get low 30's and I can bet that porsche hired one of the best drivers in the world. Chevy also agrees because it claims faster than the ZR1. I do agree for the price the GTR is better but I dont think its faster than a ZR1 and GT2 around the track.

@MangoSmoothie16 probably true. I dont know who the GT-R driver is, but I didnt believe the 7:25 time either. I do think that when a Nurburgring time is posted though, they should have a designated driver drive each car to determine its time, and not everybody's own driver. That being said, I think that the Viper ACR would have an even better time. A better driver as well as reduce the downforce on the rear wing a bit, and the ACR would be a beast on the ring.

The Stig is the best! and yes, the ACR has potential to be a freakin god, but the downforce of the rear spoiler only letting it reach about 165-170mph is killing its speed on the long straights of the ring.

@ByronSW32 yeah. it needs the downforce in the back cause its so damn powerful and cant get traction but then the downforce kills the speed. they need an adjustable one. the faster you go, the less force. the harder you brake and turn the more force. it could be done.

@sphinxofthenewage but taken to the track only once and your nissan guarantee is gone. furthermore there not much space for modification in a gtr and spare parts are extremely expensive. in other words: even if it is a perfect track car in numbers. in real life amateur race drivers do normaly prefer the porsches.

yes they do shift faster but the torque converter sucks power away even if its only 3-5%
yes new automatics have come along way but they are still automatics... drag racing is not my favorite form that is why i need a true manual to place the car in corners with precision

i think it is so funny how everyone knows more than the next guy. STFU! let me tell you something. a manual Z in essence should be faster. nissan gives the car more power from the factory to make up for the loss in shifting. a professional driver can make that shift as efficient as an auto car, but most people can not. that is why most automatics win when they shouldnt.

He was racing on "D" mode. Had he used the manual overdrive and shifted at redline, he might have stood a chance. Far as i know my Z, there's still a lot more power to squeeze even near the redline.

even in manual though, considering both cars are stock, the Z is slightly mnore powerfull, with slightly more torque (were talking +- 10 bhp and 10 ft/Lbs)
this probably wont make up very much for the extra 660 pounds its lugging around,
stock figures suggest the stock cars should be fairly evenly matched though
