Hey do you know how to change the pic on the music player? I just got this phone a few days ago and transferred my pics from my old phone and one of the pics is on the music player now and i dont know how i even got it there. There actually is a way to change the default icons in the bottom toolbar. Go to the home screen, go to applications page, press the menu button (bottom left of the phone), choose view type, then choose customizable grid, press the menu button again, choose edit. Now, press and drag any icon out or into the dock at the bottom. When you're done, press the menu button again and choose save. The Applications/Home button is the only one of the four that cannot be changed. Hope this helps.

You can arrange the four icons on the bottom bar of the home screen, example replacing email with gmail for example. (but you can't remove the home button)

By changing the view type to Customizable Grid and then selecting Edit & Save.

Missing the auto sorting, change the type back to Alphabetical and retain your custom 3 icons on the bottom.

Not as friendly as the iPhone customization, but still makes me happy to have gmail down there.

So, due to not being able to afford the plan, I'll be dropping the Evo 4G and hopping on to a family plan with ATT (cheaper in my case). I only had the Evo for a month, but it made me realize two things: big screens are a necessity and that the Android OS is outstanding. Luckily, I won't miss either of those after switching companies. Can't wait to get this phone in my hands.

@tarunrad I am completely educated with android. I own a HTC Dream (G1) and do heavy customizing on it. But there is a certain extent to which the stock firmware and applications that come on a phone are important. Consumers aren't necessarily going to want to do heavy modding to get rid of the animated and quirky interface that Samsung has on such a high-end smartphone. Stock Android is much more elegant than TouchWiz.

which apps are you taking about specifically ??? the music player is one of the best I've seen on a Android phone , the video player is the best app of any device I've seen ,let alone smartphones, the 3d gallery just looks so much better on a S-AMOLED screen

for multimedia you won't a better device on the market , even out of the box !

If you get the desire, you will be able to side load apps that are not from the market ( I am not sure about the captivate) and I am pretty sure the desire (like the nexus) will get 720p video recording! Good Luck!

swiping right and left on the status bar on top adjusts brightness a very cool feature IMO !
