  • Nice, I love these old diesel engines.

How much horsepower and torque dose it have?

  • What are the two parts that can be seen moving just behind the ladder, on the side of the block?

  • @scotty2307

Sorry, don't check the comments very often.

The two levers are for driving an indicator (cylinder pressure/stroke diagram).

  • How do you wear away that much of the flywheel key? Did it happen when they moved the engine?

  • The engine was obviously run for an extended period with the flywheel retaining nut loose. It caused significant damage to both the shaft and the flywheel. both keyways had to be re-cut and a new key made.

  • As I understand it, these were American-made, in Harrison, NJ. Is this the only American engine there besides the Cummins V12?

  • We have a Hercules straight 8 petrol engine waiting for restoration and a 4-71 Detroit arriving shortly.

We would love to get a Fairbanks Morse two-stroke but the costs of shipping from the States are too high :-(

  • Also built in the UK (to the US design) at Newark.

Sorry, missed this comment when posted.

  • leaks a lot less as the prevois video! runs nice now!

  • Does sound a little like Mr. Diderik's BB6, despite the fact that the BB6 is a four-stroke.

  • My, what a delightful noise!

  • love the machine, got myself a Worthington BB6 in my Tugboat. I'm uploading a movie on the starting of it right now, when it's approved you can view it in my account

  • how much ccm and hp has this engine?

  • About 25 litres per cylinder and 100hp at 250 rpm (we think).

  • it sounds beter than first time :)

i' m sorry, could you please tell me how this machine starts working? i think with compressed air ?

  • Sorry, missed your comment.

She starts on compressed air on the cylinder away from the flywheel.

She sounds better following new little ends, big ends scraped and shimmed, new flywheel key (old one had worn 1/4"!). Still needs the injectors doing.
