I do love this song by Offenbach, but this is the first time I've heard it played like this before. ^^ Without a doubt, it's interesting, but (and perhaps it's because it's the first impressions) I think this version is a little too full, too busy. To me, it seems like there's too much going on at the same time with the voice, orchestra etc.

Of course, I've only heard this song played quietly, like a lullaby, and I'm not an expert on classical music either, so it's really just my opinion. XD

Dpn't be so apologetic. You are totally right. The world had no pressing need for the "oompah band" version of this most delicate of compositions. But now that it has arrived anyway, I am so looking forward to never hearing it again. And I've been known to listen to other versions of The Barcacrolle over and over and over ...
