The way I see it, she fell in love with an asshole. Even though she meets the supposed "perfect guy", she cannot stop thinking about the other and stabs him because she didnt feel like she deserved him - a desperate attempt to make him let go of something that cannot move on/ give anymore.

What I get from the lyrics is exactly what I see in the video. She was in love with a guy(white room), but it didn't work & she let him go. Come to present time where she's trying to move on with a new guy(black room) but all she feels is an out of body experience, completely lost and unable to stop thinking about the first guy/obsessing over him.(hence why she sees herself asleep next to him in bed, on the complete opposite side). The stabbing was a metaphor that she killed her one true love.

I think both videos are good, but I much prefer this one. This one is more artistic and has more depth and symbolism. The other video, while good, seems to me to be just your average music video. I like the official one too, but this one is just more. And I think it suits the song better
