@n1ikola6 The box was a metaphor, it wasn't literal. There was no evidence to say otherwise other than audience speculation, and Ben's response to Locke's "is this the magic box?" in 'There's no place like home part 2' says it all.

Also Cooper (John's dad) explains in 'The Brig' after his arrival on the island that he was in a car accident and remembered someone smiling in the ambulance while drugging him, and then next thing he awoke on the island.

So they were answered.

@Damon242 i rember Cooper saing that but i dont rember that he told that some1 was smiling at him as far as i rember he passed out in the ambulance car and woke up on the island and he didnt know it was an island cause he didint get out of that room they kept him and i still think there is not enough proof that the box exists and that it doesnt exist its kinda mystery but i didnt get that first part of ur coment is it when john and ben talk in the kitchen before john destroys the submarine ?

@n1ikola6 In the second to last episode of season 4 when Locke and Ben are in the Orchid, Locke sees the machine and asks Ben if it's the "magic box", Ben gives this sort of "aw c'mon!" look then shakes his head before getting back to what he's doing.

Also the magic box was Ben's explanation for how Locke's father got to the island, but Locke's father had a very different tale.

@nonameddog It wasn't really a few episodes later. This came from "Orientation," which was near the beginning of Season 2. Locke ended up in the wheelchair in "The Man from Tallahassee," which came in the middle of Season 3. They're quite far apart, especially once you remember the break between seasons, and the friggin' 3 month hiatus after the first 6 episodes of Season 3. This was cool at the time of watching it. Getting pushed out the window was infinitely more sad.
