Its a little hard to wrap ur mind around, but I am beginning to understand that some trans dont consider themselves gay because they have ALWAYS identified with the opposite sex. So in many of their minds, they have always felt female, so its not gay. Its a bit confusing, but I still consider that gay, because I still look at a person as what they were born as period.
This is something I guess I don't understand I am a gay man that has sex with my partenr that I have been with for 5 years that makes us gay but this transgendered woman says she has sex with her partner yet still is pre op but says she doesn't consider herself gay. I think once again religion has screwed alot of gay people head up I'm sorry but that's gay not hetrosexual. I will never understand this its two males in a relationship how do she not consider herself gay?
Hmm this is different, my life experience shows that nobody hates on transgendered people ( fuck my spelling ik )well a tleast people mature my high school seems to accept it easily and i havn't heard a single thing towards tg people ( btw i has tg friend ) And he/she whichever you prefer is actually the coolest friend i have. But ill admit things do get awkward
thank you so-called ''straight'' people that you ''support and tolarate'' our ''decision'', because that is soooo important to us, because we all know that being straight is the superior being and everything else are mental diseases right........vomit!!!
... So you get offended because people call you a man sometimes? And you think is because of their morals? How about because you still look like a man and a straight person wouldn't know how to approach you? If I was to look at you as a girl now, that would make you one stuckup bitch. Getting all offended over nothing. Give me a break!
Hi Tracee. I definitely agree with you on the pronoun usage issue! I'm a mtf transsexual in the process of transition (Still working to obtain hormones though). I just started being out to my mother, a psychiatrist and a counselor since October and November, and the use of male pronouns are getting to be a kick in the stomach for me. Most people who don't know my business call me be female pronouns, and I fell better about that. I'll just inform people I associate with to refer to me as female.
I'm all for gay and lesbian pride and transexuals have every right to change sex but i aint gotta praise it i only will tolerate it. thats what tolerance is about. my former place of employment(citibank) used to subject us to pamphlets honoring transexuals once a year before our shift started. They have every right to mutilate their bodies through surgery just like people have every right to slit their own wrists. but that doesn't mean it should be encouraged sex changes are fucekd up
Thanks...3LWTV. This is informative. My best friend is a past drag queen. I will have more respect for transgender and try and call them girl if that is what they dress like.
I loved the interview , there were somethings that have me saying hmmmm. I respect everyone period , however lets call a spade a spade, and a queen a queen. I can respect on saying they feel this way about who they are however the reality is that your sex has already been determined by what kind of organs you poses. So two individuals with the same organs are gay. right?...
Your choice to label yourself gay or lesbian is your choice and should be respected. My choices are mine and also should be respected. Thank you for your comment.
Classy lady and an engaging interview, however I have always had a bit of a a problem with trans who ultimately declare that they don't consider themselves gay tho oftentimes they've benefited greatly by having used the gay community in all sorts of ways as their biggest support system all throughout their transition. It just kinda comes off as disrespectful to me.
No disrespect intended. Remember "Stonewall" We contributed to making sure that we all receive Equality and Respect, not just a selected few. Thank you for your comment.
Oh I'm the first to go to the mat in defense of fems and trans with respect to their historical record as courageous fighters concerning our civil rights. Perhaps 'dismissive' rather than 'disrespectful' would have been a more befitting word to use to my point but your point is well taken my dear.
@H8RbyN8URE What you guys don't understand is that we (ts) don't always get support from the gay community. Gay men don't won't to date us and for those of us who aren't performers and drag queens, don't interact very much with the gay community. Gays and lesbians often don't understand the need to transition either. They support it, but don't always get it.
I saw Lonnell on the 17 and he informed me that there's still interest in our interview so I feel it important to reply. As for trans people benefiting from the gay community, please explain? I believe that the gay community has benefited greatly from the trans people that stood up and fought during the 1969 Stonewall Riots. In addition, how is it disrespectful to insist that we're addressed in a manner that empowers us?
@H8RbyN8URE Great comment but I think you have it backwards when it comes to Trans benefiting greatly from the Gay Community. If it had not been for the Transgender Community taking a STAND in 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in NYC, there wouldn't be a Gay Movement or Gay Rights, so really its the GAY, Lesbian & Bisexual Community who OWE the Transgender Community their Gratitude because They STARTED IT ALL!
For more info on my statement, go to Wikipedia and type in The Stonewall Riots.
Thanks for this Lonnell! Education is key. I think Tracy had a good point about superiority. This such a divide among the community. As a group we are oppressed then we do it within the group. It's gotta change. Keep standing in your light!!!!
cant say that i agree with all the things she had to say ..however...atleast she was able to provide justification for her beliefs. Interesting interview Lonnell
The interview was good! However, do transexuals have to update their drivers license or other documents as proof that they are no longer the sex they were born?
Great question! First, we apply with the Superior Court to legally change our names and then we apply to the Social Security Administration and Driver's License to obtain documents that reflect our gender and name change. However, there are unfortunately some States like Georgia and others that still discriminate against trans people. Fortunately, I've previously lived in Los Angeles, California for more than fourteen years, which is where I changed my documents.
Spoken like a true woman. She is beautiful and the world needs to hear more of this
