From an ethical perspective, because of the nature of vaccination, it is not your right to refuse vaccination except for medical reasons. Also, there is no evidence that the deaths that you say were caused by Gardasil were actually caused by the vaccine. The death rate is comparable to the expected death rate in that population.

OK, I checked a view things out about Perry and this vaccine. He has apologized for jumping the gun and making Garadasil mandatory. This kind of decision process by Perry demonstrates that he is not qualified to be President. He did not even make an analysis of the benefits vs the risks! Furthermore, to basically tell people that they have no choice with respect to their personal health goes against everything America stands for.
While I thing was Perry did was horrible and dishonest, but the Gardasil vaccine, even with causing some deaths, will save a lot more lives. Of the 23 million vaccines given, there where 32 deaths, but there are also 3,900 deaths in the U.S. from Cervical cancer per year. To vaccinate every girl you would need 2.1 million vaccines and it would cause 3 deaths, but it should also cut down cervical cancer by 70%, saving 2730 lives a year. That is near a thousand to one ratio.

After writing the 1st comment, I found that vaxes must be CDC recommended for routine use in kids to be added to the VIT. G was added as of Feb1,'07, 1 day b4 Perry's mandate and nearly 2 mo b4 the CDC officially recommended it (which would also have added it to the table). Was it backdated? But what if a woman was raped, or was put into a situation she couldn't control, and became pregnant from it? Have you ever thought of that? @donsmithshow I do agree; if the woman had responsibility over the situation, and she knew she could've prevented herself from becoming pregnant, she should've been more careful. But often, woman don't want to get pregnant, and they are raped, and afterwards left with a disease and pregnant. They know they can't look after a child or afford one, and they certainly do not want to live with a baby who's father was a rapist. It's a hard decision; it isn't made up over night.

This doesn't really make much sense. I really dislike Rick Perry, but pushing for mandatory Gardasil (or any other vaccine that is on the CDC schedule) is a good thing. From an ethical perspective, because of the nature of vaccination, it is not your right to refuse vaccination except for medical reasons. Also, there is no evidence that the deaths that you say were caused by Gardasil were actually caused by the vaccine. The death rate is comparable to the expected death rate in that population.

What "medical reasons" are you referring to, nkt425? Are you saying that a mandatory vaccine, one-size-fits-all government requirement based on a girl's age only is a good way to protect us? @Sumac5 Medical exemptions are available in all 50 states for people who cannot receive a vaccine for medical reasons (which is mainly patients with egg allergies who can't receive the influenza vaccine). The provider administering the vaccine is trained to ask specific, pointed questions to determine if the patient has a medical reason not to receive the vaccine. Failure to do so is medical malpractice and is not the government's fault.

@tnoyy34rt here is what is so comical about Obama, he can enter into conflicts and blow nearly $1 billion dollars in Libya but when it comes to cracking down on corruption, he is very very spineless and would seem to not have made efficient use of the justice department. It just seems like politics has become a dangerous game of manipulation and corruption and the first sign of that corruption is when politicians vote themselves in pay raises. You also see Obama living it on the taxpayer dime.

The POTUS should be traveling around the country in a prop plane at the very least or should be required to take a private Greyhound bus or even Amtrak and be subjected to the same type of infrastructure we are. Why does the POTUS need to be living in the White House. If he was more like seventies Jerry Brown, he'd rent somewhere and shut down the White House LOL!

OK, I checked a view things out about Perry and this vaccine. He has apologized for jumping the gun and making Garadasil mandatory. This kind of decision process by Perry demonstrates that he is not qualified to be President. He did not even make an analysis of the benefits vs the risks! Furthermore, to basically tell people that they have no choice with respect to their personal health goes against everything America stands for.

While I thing was Perry did was horrible and dishonest, but the Gardasil vaccine, even with causing some deaths, will save a lot more lives. Of the 23 million vaccines given, there where 32 deaths, but there are also 3,900 deaths in the U.S. from Cervical cancer per year. To vaccinate every girl you would need 2.1 million vaccines and it would cause 3 deaths, but it should also cut down cervical cancer by 70%, saving 2730 lives a year. That is near a thousand to one ratio.
