This piece is extremely hard to play well. You have done an excellent job. I have been practising this stuff for 2 hours a night for the last month. God knows why I must get a life! But it is such a beautiful piece!
absolutely excellent dynamic contrast and feel for the piece, but just a tad fast once it gets into the second part with the 32nd notes and whatnot. still very good
the piece is called solace "a mexican serenade" in "very slow march time..." haha. piano humor :D
I would have to do some digging but I have the complete works of Scott Joplin in a box somewhere (I just moved). I purchased it in the 70's but, if you want, I can see if I can find my copy and look it up. Maybe Amazon would have something like that?
dude sweet job!

Solace really comes to life when it's played a bit slower--it is considered one of Joplins best pieces

Technically this song is not a rag. I think that's what he meant.

Cool-especially the way you played the last part!! Great playing!

The complete version of this song isn't found in most of Joplin's rag compilations because, well, because it isn't a rag. Get a clue, people...

Nice job! I like that you did not rush it. So many people do and Joplin was clear that his music was not to be rushed.
This is my favorite piece to play, by the way. I love ragtime!
ArisztidZ 3 years ago
Right!!! I think it could have been played just a little bit slower.

It's sounding really good. This is a HARD piece, at least, it is for me.
Also, thanks for playing the parts most other people skip, and for including your hands on the keys in the video.
