  • dude sweet job!

  • This piece is extremely hard to play well. You have done an excellent job. I have been practising this stuff for 2 hours a night for the last month. God knows why I must get a life! But it is such a beautiful piece!

  • well done sir! fantastic!

  • wow, you are the first person ive heard to play scott joplin at the correc tempo! thank god!

  • Wonderful... barely no mistake. Best version ive seen on youtube, and ive seen Sue Keller lol.

  • Nice dynamics.

  • absolutely excellent dynamic contrast and feel for the piece, but just a tad fast once it gets into the second part with the 32nd notes and whatnot. still very good

the piece is called solace "a mexican serenade" in "very slow march time..." haha. piano humor :D

  • I Cry when I hear that music...

  • Solace really comes to life when it's played a bit slower--it is considered one of Joplins best pieces

  • Finally!! someone that knows how to play a scott joplin song.

  • Great job!!!!

  • that was great keep up the good work....

    rob

  • too fast, i like this song slow.

  • Just a little bit slower, but still an amazing job. This is such a beautiful piece.

  • Nice rendition, thank you

  • you added in tango form in the description...isnt this hows it suppose to played like?

i still enjoy playing this song and i am now learning how to play maple leaf

  • Technically this song is not a rag. I think that's what he meant.

  • Cool-especially the way you played the last part!! Great playing!

  • The complete version of this song isn't found in most of Joplin's rag compilations because, well, because it isn't a rag. Get a clue, people...

  • Nice job! I like that you did not rush it. So many people do and Joplin was clear that his music was not to be rushed.

This is my favorite piece to play, by the way. I love ragtime!

  • Right!!! I think it could have been played just a little bit slower.

  • It's sounding really good. This is a HARD piece, at least, it is for me.

Also, thanks for playing the parts most other people skip, and for including your hands on the keys in the video.

  • Magnificent job!

  • You were wonderful! Great job! Don't stop studying.....

  • Thanks I found the first part.

Kinda hard re doing the first part I thought I had the whole song down >_>

  • Thats awesome

I didnt know there was a first part my music only has the second one

where did you find the first part at?

  • no idea but i think i can point you in the right direction

    well

    not really

    google it

i just bought the maurice hinsons edition of "At The Piano With Scott Joplin"

  • I would have to do some digging but I have the complete works of Scott Joplin in a box somewhere (I just moved). I purchased it in the 70's but, if you want, I can see if I can find my copy and look it up. Maybe Amazon would have something like that?

  • @Fersnachi Yeah same with me! What's up with that? Mine starts right at 1:50.

  • i love these rags. they're so cool. i love you shane! :D
