  • haha. good to see some people aren't the usual skateboarding Mullen haters. That guy made me understand that anything is possible...on a drum kit skateboard...or this planet

  • he used to be in Dying Fetus. man he was in a lot of bands.

  • he used to be in Dying Fetus. am he was in a lot of bands.

  • i could that too....just give 2 redbulls and i'll do it

  • good job kevin, I didn't know you could play that fast, although I enjoy your groovy drumming more. keep up the good work!

  • Dude you are THE shit!

  • Kevin is the real deal. anyone who can fill in for Derek Roddy is the real deal as far as im concerned.

  • Kevin's snare sounds awesome :)

  • looks like he was gonna explode towards the end

  • You sure those aren't 245bpm kev? lol Maybe 247???

  • Nothing wrong with changing beats up a bit, trying to be creative and off setting the high hat from the snare Gives it a nice flare. You cant put the same fuckn blast beat in every song , they would all sound the same.

  • "the problem is, single hihat blasting is fake..if you cant pull full blasts off at that tempo, go slower =/ or proceed the way you are if you will...but id never cheat like that to gain some speed, id rather play little slower and play it FOR REAL then just have a good right hand"

    ^^That whole comment is bullshit^^^

Blasting half speed with the left hand keeps you on time especially during live sets where you play for a long period of time. Even so, he's the one on stage not your sorry ass.

  • Lets see you up on a stage blasting that fast and keeping perfect time in front of hundreds of people when all the adrenaline is pumpin'!

  • I dont think you got my point. I didnt criticize his playing. The ORIGINAL blast beats is when you hit the ride, hi-hat, cymbal, before every snare hit. I just commented because i thought it was funny what anthraxthreat said. I know that nowadays everything that involves fast snare playing is called a blast beat. Dont be so hostile next time.

  • Yeah, sorry man.

I ODed on energy drinks, lol.

  • I do every weekend.

  • a blast beat is a roll between the bass drum & snare. You can do whatever with the cymbals. The traditional blast has 8th notes on the hi hat but back in the day those guys in the 80's didn't play much faster than 200 bpm.

  • do you do rim shots in this video

    your snare sounds killer!

  • I don't see why you would "hate" it. Kai Hahto does some of his blasts this way. While everything else is going fast as hell, i'ts kool to have something keeping time. Of course, it's all a matter of opinion.

  • sweet bro

  • to clarify...swivel does NOT happen naturally for most people, therefore it is a technique

    see georgekolliasforum

  • Man, I hate blastbeats like this one, where they just hit a single cymbal/hi-hat instead of actually doing fills and stuff.

  • Yes I agree with you but this is how the original drummer recorded it and I like to play like the cd.

  • Hehe, I understand. Wouldn't be a bad idea to put your own ideas into it though. :)

  • Better yet, why don't you do it for him?

  • Hah, how would that work? Would I just push him out of the seat and take over while the blast part is going on?

  • did daath realy get noticed in atlanta, georgia?

  • the problem is, single hihat blasting is fake..if you cant pull full blasts off at that tempo, go slower =/ or proceed the way you are if you will...but id never cheat like that to gain some speed, id rather play little slower and play it FOR REAL then just have a good right hand.....

  • @DisembowelMe why are you comparing a fill to a beat? apples to oranges . . . "Man, punk is so stupid. All they do is d-beat, they should just be flailing fills all the time."

  • @xexyl I'm not comparing beats no, I'm suggesting how his blast beats could be improved by having actual fills.

  • @DisembowelMe I hate beats I cant play as well. hahaha. never heard of this project man, I'll check it out. You are to drumming what rodney mullen is to skateboarding. haha

  • @d7b44 rodney mullen ...hell ya!!!

  • @d7b44 Yeah Rodney Mullen!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol for being at 245 that was pretty sweet.

  • I would say these are on 245 bpm! my advice: listen and count again. you have to concentrate more my friend^^

  • I would say these are on 245 bpm! my advice: listen and count again. you have to concentrate more my friend^^

  • Kevin is fucking siick!

The intro in War Born by Daath makes me cream myself every time.

  • his stuff with dying fetus is soooo much better than his music with daath but who am i to complain? ITS FUCKIN KEVIN

  • Kevin Talley is the sickest

I also know him very well, he is such a nice guy and really fuckin good at teaching shit

  • haha...alex just cuz you get lessons from him doesn't necessarily mean "you know him very well"

  • ur a fucking idiot apetch. If your ganna be that fucking retarted dont fucking post at all u fucking cock sucker

  • name calling. that'll get stuff done!

  • you need to settle down there boyo, it was clearly just a joke

  • what technique you use on the feet to be so fucking fast? swivel technique?

  • how is swivel 'made up' but also occurs naturally? and technique is a practice that helps you stay comfortable and relaxed man... you kinda contradicted every statement you made here. cheers for input, though! you definitely understand more than most people!

  • ok, technique is like a way of playing somthing. k so the swivel shouldnt be a technique, because it happens naturally. if it doesnt naturally happen, it's just wasting energy moving yout foot from side to side, it does nothing.

  • technique is a practice that helps you play with less energy, more control, and with relaxation. in effort to keep your strokes and hitting even and consistent. the best way to do all this is to utilize how your body works, naturally and apply it throughout your kit. so something that happens naturally is almost the definition of technique.

  • no, like I said technique is the way somthing is done. that's the definition. all the stuff about controll and relaxation etc is just stuff you added.

  • no... technique includes everything i specified. ["the manner and ability with which an artist, writer, dancer, athlete, or the like employs the technical skills of a particular art or field of endeavor."] manner being the stroke of the drum, ability meaning control and consistency. believe me, dude. i'm a drummer myself. i can speak on behalf of this.

  • ur wrong about tim waterson. nobody made it up. george kollias said it was natural for him. tim waterson adapted it from george. kevin said it just came naturally on the left foot.

  • ur fucking insane

  • the PA would be pushing a ton of air :s

i'm suprised the audience didn't physically get pushed back!!

you kick bass drum pedal AND ass :D

  • Who the fuck cares how fast Kev was doing double-bass here? He's still a killer drummer regardless!

  • Because he put BPM in the title, its a speed war now.

  • Yeah. All thanks to you.

  • Kevin, get that tape of the snare! it sounds great when it rings out! Fuck it sounds so good in your new video! What drumhead is it? and how much do those snare drums run?

  • Your a sick drummer man. Playing like a man is hard shit I know.. I developed these shins that stick out like farken eggs over the years doing it the hard way! you gave me hope to keep going. <3 hook me up with ur msn when ur free so I can get some pointers :D

  • Kevin, I am a huge fan of all your videos. I know you could care less what any of these nagative sayers have to say cause you have obviously proven yourself and you have many more fans then you do assholes. I really don't notice you not playing 16ths on your feet either. good job.

  • "the bass drum is clearly at 184 bpm, not 246.

    The hand blast is 246.

You have to listen more accurately." haha wow, way to put it so presicely watson!

  • One of my idol that's for sure.

  • dude, what are the acutal measurments of that snare?

  • 13 by 6.5 20 ply maple precision drum company

  • It's a pretty know thing that I am NOT a fast drummer thats why I put this video up... cause I actually had to learn how to "cheat" my double bass to keep up with all these punk ass tappers that barely hit there drums. That's right... don't be a fucking pussy. Just play slow... it sounds better anyways.

  • Well you actually are pretty fast (maybe not the fastest) but the difference is that you seem to keep heavy grooves goin rather than all-out blasting the whole time.

I dont know i just thought id throw that out for ya

  • This is not 246bpm 16th note. Your double bass are NOT in 16th note.

    Not bad anyway.

  • uuuuh... yes it is... i just tabbed out a 16th note bass drum roll on guitar hero with quarter notes on the high hat and eight note beats for the snare drum... the exact same beat he plays... guess what BPM it worked out to? yep, thats right, 246. yaaaay kevin talley, hes so awesome XD, some barker-ass blast beats right thurrr!

  • the bass drum is clearly at 184 bpm, not 246.

    The hand blast is 246.

You have to listen more accurately.

  • Not guitar hero, guitar pro i meant to say... and if you would take the time to metronome it, it matches up at 248. i just click measured it on GH again not five minutes ago...

  • Fortune1,

who told you that only athletes can use the "bpm"? wtf. that's dumb.

FYI, an average person has 60-100 bpm pulse rate? i bet you didn't know that.

  • I dont care about average heart rate where talking drums here, jesus christ fucking retard kids these days.

  • yo ask any drummer that actually plays shit that fast and you'll realize that its a true workout

  • The band sounds amazing live though!

  • i really like your snare! what are the dimensions? i must know...

  • 13 by 6.5 20 ply maple precision drum company

  • fortune 1.... its not a sport. however, that speed was required for this song. what are you trying to prove by talking shit?

  • dude, who gives a fuck, who says EVERY time somebody plays the drums it has to be record breaking? so what if the 250 barrier was already broken, this is still fucking impressive

  • It's about the music, Not the BPMs.

  • who cares? it's not about breaking records man.

  • Jesus Christ KT... You should let me know when you hit up Denver next mang, I still wanna buy you a brew. You's'da'man!!!

(The dude from the Hate Eternal Video)

    -TJ420

  • Wow, this is the fastest I think I have ever heard you play in any band.
