1. Obviously Pinestar is Tigerstars father

2. Firestar got the colour of his fur from Pinestar

3. If you look in The Rise Of Scourge, when his mom is looking at the picture of their father, she was wondering why none of them had his Ginger fur

So therefore they are related. Erin Hunter said it herself.
