He didnt drop his hand til the last shot, he could have given him the 8 count because that would also protect him from getting shots, and would be justified because you could have called it a knockdown, Corrales looked hurt after the second knockdown stop it then too?Give him the eight count and look in his eyes to see if he still there. That´s because Castillo lowered his gloves during the flurry of punches handed by corrales. He didnt get kod (literally) because he was against the ropes. If the punching would have continued, Castillo couldve ended really hurt. The referee´s job is to make sure the fighters don´t get hurt more than is necessary.
i understand what you mean about the early stoppage, but anytime a fighter gets hit and his hands drop and dont come back up to protect himself, then the ref has to step in. If I was the ref, I might have let it go 2 or 3 more punches and then stopped it.

Yeah, I've actually boxed before and it is tough. I know a lot of old school fighters that taught me a few tricks and it IS A LOT HARDER THAN IT LOOKS. IT HURTS A LOT TOO! One can't blame Diego for spitting out his mouthpiece twice. Just think about it, If he didn't do it, his boxing career would have been over and many wouldn't be calling him a "WARRIOR". I think it's more of a case of Corrales' complete unwillingness to give up than "a puncher's chance." That saying implies that the fighter got lucky, and Corrales did anything but. He earned that victory, despite the mouthpiece issues. He wasn't badly buzzed or off balance after the knockdowns anyway, he's the type of fighter who gets knocked down more often but recovers very quickly, so I don't think the extra time helped him all that much.

Corrales and Castillo gave us one of the best fights of all time. Corrales was smart not to fight the 3rd fight, at a higher weight Corrales is no match for Castillo, but at the lower weight Diego will win.
Cheating is only when the ref says so, every fighter, every sportsman for that matter pushes the limits of the rules. IMO the ref couldnt have handled it much better. It was a competitve and close fight that would have been tarnished if he DQ corrales. Think of the outcry if he had, he took a point off and thats what he has to do. Up until then corrales had barely got a warning for anything. Castillo has destroyed his rep after his last two efforts.

He earned that victory, despite the mouthpiece issues. He wasn't badly buzzed or off balance after the knockdowns anyway, he's the type of fighter who gets knocked down more often but recovers very quickly, so I don't think the extra time helped him all that much.

Corrales and Castillo gave us one of the best fights of all time. Corrales was smart not to fight the 3rd fight, at a higher weight Corrales is no match for Castillo, but at the lower weight Diego will win.

Cheating is only when the ref says so, every fighter, every sportsman for that matter pushes the limits of the rules. IMO the ref couldnt have handled it much better. It was a competitve and close fight that would have been tarnished if he DQ corrales. Think of the outcry if he had, he took a point off and thats what he has to do. Up until then corrales had barely got a warning for anything. Castillo has destroyed his rep after his last two efforts.

What most people forget is that yea Castillo didn't make weight the second time and thats the reason he knocked Corrales bitch ass out, but in the first fight Castillo DID make weight and still knocked down Corrales TWICE!
