Evanescence is a mixture of a lot of diffrent genres of music it's not just one thing, especially in diffrent songs. "Call me when you're sober" is not considered a rock sound or Goth sound, it's more pop then anything, "Bring me to life" even has a little rap sound to it mixed with rock and pop, some of her older music from "fallen" has a darker sound a mixture of rock and elements of goth.

There are a lot of promotional images of her that people would describe as gothic, but there are also pleanty pictures of her when she's not proforming or promoting, and she doesn't look gothic at all.
