  • 二人のハーモニーがとても素晴らしい!!

  • the 2:08 mark is the section for 15 secs of PURE ACTION!!!

  • Thats what I'm talking about, right there

  • Jazz....

  • 4 people must like Lady GaGa....

  • このセッション好きだ。中盤の盛り上がり方がゾクゾクします。

  • I bought the DVD twice, and the album twice. Gave it away both times. I listen to this track in my car all the time. What a performance! I was fortunate enough to see this live in Toronto, but in Toronto it was Reginald Veal on bass.

  • R.I.P. GURU..THANKS FOR INTRODUCING ME TO DEM! ONE!!

  • @akiemurad1999 : I agree...great tune...terrible name.

  • crazy- good crazy

  • I cannot see the biblical relationship in this music between Able and Cain. One brother slew the other out of jealousy for his gifts. Both of these boys are full of blessings. No hate on this one. No competition either they play very well together.

  • Lennie Tristano was not on a wrong cource.. This is more Tristano than Hank Mobley.

  • whats the name of the tune?

  • yes!!

  • Wow. Cain and Abel. The purist that loosened up on the right. The mainstay on the left. Wynton and Branford know best who is Cain and who is Abel. I won't compare the musicianship - talent is oozing out here.

  • does anyone know where i can get the music/transcriptions for this song?

  • Comment removed

  • Nice.

  • Branford is playing an Inderbinen Saxophone, isn't he?

  • that whole family is insane

  • If there's something about these New Orleans muscians, that's their sence of rhythm.

  • thats the bassist and drummer frm the Marcus Roberts Trio

  • no, drummer is jason marsalis, the young son of marsalis family

  • yeah i kno dat...he also plays with the Marcus Roberts trio

  • Max would be proud.

  • who is max?

  • @51blackdawg

    Aah, Max Roach?

  • oh...ok i gotcha

  • its wicked man great stuff love it wow

  • bass player is good

  • go to show jason some love

  • jason on drums

  • I think the belief that "fusion" is more modern than "traditional" jazz is incorrect. Fusion is more recent in history, but both styles of jazz are old. As for Wynton and Branford, they way it works is that Wynton plays his ideas and Branford fills in the gaps. Wynton does gravitate toward older styles now, but in the 80's when Wynton and Branford were playing together, they were interested in the 60's Miles and Trane groups. Hope that information was helpful.

  • anyone know what chords they're jammin over?

  • F blues, believe it or not.

  • It kinda felt like Wynton was leading and Branford playjng around him... Wynton had his eyes closed the whole time. Branford had more "response" phrases to what Wynton was playing. Maybe that was the intent. I guess actually the intent here is to have a sort of musical confrontation (hence the name of the tune). I wonder which one is Cain and which one is Abel...lol

  • But Branford is a much better soloist... His tunes with his new band just aren't convenient enough to a listener who has limited time on their hands. But I saw them this summer man, when the band really reached their peak it looked like I was was watching the John Coltrane Quartet. The drummer Justin Faulkner looked just like Elvin Jones... same posture he even looked like a windmill when he let go... Also you may find that Wynton's leading because he has the capabilities to play much louder.

  • Tell me about it! I just saw Branford and his group perform this past weekend and was BLOWN AWAY!!!

  • they play sooooo well together, so many many people butcher the art of playing solos together...this is da bomb

  • The Marsalis brothers are the cat's meow for this flavor of jazz. For those of us who gravitate towards more modern stylings, it would be hard to find a more amazing pair than the Brecker brothers. Check out their performance here: watch?v=UIGsSLCoIhM.

  • u obviously dont listen to brandford if you dont think his jazz is modern

  • That's not what he meant. He was commenting on "this flavor of jazz" in this video. Brecker Brothers played a more fusion style which is obviously more modern than the New Orleans type swing music they're playing here. Wynton himself gravitates towards everything old, like Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. Branford puts out more original modern jazz stuff I feel. Read what people are saying before objecting to them trying to sound "smart".

    Peace

  • It's not that one was better than the other, I think both of them emphasized each other's playing.

  • 3:40

  • 3.00- 3.23 - - - > jesus wishes he could play like that

  • i believe that this is called "How to Play Together"

  • Maybe in jazz, But Branford had shown some skills in Populair music(with Sting) and Funk( drjohn) as well. !

  • it isnt a battle and if it was branford would destroy wynton

  • Cain and Abel joined forces to kill us with music. Superb!!!!

  • Awesome.

  • At 1:23... Telepathic Shit.

  • @Jazzman303 Indubitably.

  • @Jazzman303 haha, seems like it. Mostly Branford was calling for Wynton to join

  • I finally love Wyntons playing. This is New Orleans jazz, resurected

  • branford bashes wynton just by imitating his phrases all the time... i wonder how many solos both transcriped in their lifetime .... maybe 1999380238??

  • Where might I find this recording?

  • It's called "Marsalis Family - A Jazz Celebration", on CD and DVD.

  • Yeeaaahhh baby!

  • Wynton Marsalis was circular breathing around 5:35 :)

  • I'm lovin' it. We all get to see playing the Blues in F can still be valid.

  • I never thought a simple F blues could sound like this. Very nice.

  • brothers doing it for themselves!

  • i think Bradford brings something out of Wynton...looses him up a lil...

  • Wonderful. It must have been spine-tingling for the people who were lucky enough to be in the audience that night. Thanks for posting! :-)

  • Thank Ellis and Delores for giving birth to them!!!

  • Fantastico! Due fratelli strepitosi!

    Matteo

  • What a talented family -great video

  • Who's the bassman?

  • Roland Guerin on bass.

  • I love that piece.Truly thrilling.

  • Its an all out beat down, non-stop heavyweight
