  • 99 % Kawasaki KLR 650 painted army green.

  • @trident1702 you would of thought watching the vid, the took credit for the whole bike:S for shame, Kawasaki wasn't mentioned once

  • Gay Marine Corps. The UK forces use the Harley Davidson, so much better!

  • @all We have 30 years of experience in manufacturing and export of custom made and restoring diesel motorcycle in India on order. For more information see videos uploaded by us.

Any questions about diesel motorcycle are welcome.

  • How much per unit were they soaking Uncle Sam for?

  • The company is no longer producing them at all.

  • "Sorry folks, these combat motorcycles are only available for the Marine corp."

    .......FUUUUUUUCKK!!! or BULIX!!!!

  • Its hard to believe you guys.

Are guys saying HDT is out of the diesel motorcycle business??

This HDT bike is going to be launched here in India in 2012. It will be called Altius Scimitar diesel and will be priced at Indian Rupees 1,75,000 (which is about US $3900). Cant believe the same bike sold for $18-20K US??

I think this is an amazing bike and I'm looking forward to buying one. I desperately need this bike.

and hey this whole HDT/Altius deal has nothing to do with Royal Enfield.

  • @MapexBeater hey really ? i'd like to own one too ! seriously been thinking bout it , send me more details please

  • what tires are used ?

  • Yes, the suspension was pretty bad when this video was taken. A whole new rear suspension / shock set up was designed by the guys at F1 Engineering in Los Angeles to take into account the extra weight of the diesel engine and the expected payload. This transformed the bike and made it much easier to ride.

F1 Engineering also designed and produced most of the components of the engine, and I guess Hayes DT managed to screw them as well.

  • Sorry to inform you heloderm310 but Hayes DT is in fact gone, nice new website but nobody home. Building is now empty and up for rent and all employees laid off, (me included).

Royal Enfield took a '94 KLR 650, bored the head and installed an indirect injection prechamber from a 1980 Mercedes 300D, and that is pretty much what they have today with the exception of making thicker case castings to support the huge flywheel.

  • lol if they want motorcycles they should just get drz's or klr's

  • @tolikechicken Which means they need to take petrol out to war zones as well as diesel

  • @zacish actually they modify the engines to run on diesel

  • dirt bikes and an UZI, only in the movies lol

  • This bike was designed back in 1994 by the engineers at Royal Enfield. Now 17 years of development later it still only produces 25 hp and is a dog. The bike project was just a hobby for Hayes, who is nothing but a shade tree mechanic with no real knowledge of engine design.

I was part of a Marine Corp investigation team looking into why HDT could not deliver on their 500 bike contract, it was canceled after just 200 bikes were delivered and many problems were found.

    Now HDT is long gone.

  • @nosparkplugs1

    Uhm..

Hayes DT is still around, in fact they have a new website.

  • ok so it can ride in multiple environment. But how hard is it to ride in full gear??

  • I'd buy one of those if I could...and then turn it into a Supermoto.

  • @Davetts92 Kinda heavy for a SuMo

  • @Davetts92 awesome idea mate ! !!!!! i'm with you thumbs up

  • Not bad not bad. A little on the heavy side but with enouph torque to compensate. I bet 4th gear wheelies are not uncommon. I'd like to see a civillian model but who knows when or if that'll happen. The suspension looks like it needs improvement. I think it would have been better to start with something like an XR650R than the old KLR. A TDI 450 would be the ultimate in my opinion. Keep it up you guys, overall its definatetly a great choice for the military.

  • Can't seem to find a video that shows one running up close. If any one knows where a video is that shows the engine running I'd love to see it.

  • "Only available for the Marine Corps" Guess who gets to ride one weekly?... :D

  • Amazing ! Not a single reference to Kawasaki !

  • Fred, Thanks for all you do, I had a HDT KLR 250 in Desert Strom, It got me thru many a hariy situation and never failed me (except when I drove into the waddie). Good to see you are still at it. Semper Fi, Richard King

  • i want one

  • how much to buy one?

  • the motorbikes would do better in the commercial market aswell, as they look like capable trail bikes, ideal for farmers and ranchers alike

  • Isn't it interesting that one of the best cycles made are only available to the Marines? I wonder if you can get parts for this thing if you bought one at an auction? I suspect not...

  • Of course it's a modified KLR 650. We are talking about this bike for nearly a decade now. And nobody knows if it will make its way into the public sometimes. Even it was shown to the public several times.

But - no matter what happens - we have lots of other diesel motorcycles.

Read more on dieselbike-dot-net or dieselkrad-dot-info.

Or take part in the 10th anniversary of the international Dieselbike Rally. Held from 10. to 12. September 2010 in Germany.

  • @emscherblues like wat other diesel motorcycles. can u tell of a couple of companies that make deisel motorcycles.

  • its a modified KLR 650

  • klr650 the best of the best..i got mine and every time a take it to the trailways and forest is amazing..i dont know why or how..but these bikes are magic bikes..uniques

  • That's a Kawasaki KLR 650 ?

  • Hmm I imagine a combination of this and the Christini 2wd system...

  • I'm not that impressed. Japan could do it better. There are no American bikes that win in motocross, trials, enduro, or other off road motorcycle sports. But the US military is too proud and will never borrow ideas from Japan!

  • Looks like you folks went a little light duty on your suspension and they look like they plow thru the sand which indicates they are a little heavy on the front, which meens that if you are a inexperienced rider you may taking a short trip over the bars and then be wondering what just happened why me?!

  • don't hold your breath. america will never have a decent diesel motorcycle. good mileage=never in america. mother fuckers.

  • @creamyfilling102 Is that so? Then how come most NATO nations are clammoring to get their hands on them?

  • @ExUSSailor for military use maybe. never for civilian transport. especially in america.

  • @creamyfilling102 They do sell them to civilians in America and have been selling them for a while. Any civilian can buy one, go to dieselmotorcycles (dot) com. It's the website for Hayes Diversified Technology, the company in this video. They sell 2 gas powered bikes and the M1030-M2 MultiFuel (diesel) bike and some ATVs as well.

  • @Turkalj Thanks for the link. I'm going to have to check these out

  • @creamyfilling102 True that. All we hear is a bunch of lipservice from politicians about getting good gas mileage when the answer is right there but they don't want to hear it

  • @creamyfilling102

Seems like, just about every time we get a handle on tech improvements, outfits like the EPA step in and hang a bunch of sandbags on our balloon. Otherwise, many of us would be scrambling for smaller diesel vehicles.

  • great, where's my local dealer?? stop suplying the army and start public sale, you basterds. Do I have to nick one from the marines?

  • Pisses me off that they don't sell these to the public. I know they plan to, but we want them yesterday ;) They rock

  • yeah ı heard neander its beatifull germany motorcycles

  • again typical americans..they make themselves rediculous with the phrase' fastest diese motorcycle in the world..

nver heard of neander and EVA diesel motorcycles??

  • These came out like 2005-2006, and at the time they supposedly set the diesel speed records for the world. When did the EVA Diesel motorcycle come out? 2009?

Also before comparing the bikes, keep in mind that the bike here has an engine in the 600 cc range (compared to 800cc of the EVA) and there is no help of a turbocharger (like the EVA). If you have basic knowledge of engines, you will understand.

  • The EVA is interesting though. I can't wait to see more, but HDT has my consumer interest at the moment. The HDT bike appears to be more durable as a versatile offroad machine and I want something that can take a reasonable amount of beating.

  • Then buy one!its not available for the marine corps only like he said, google hdt "hayes diversity technologies" or somtn like that, think it was for sale @ abt 20k

  • I want one!

  • me too!
