this song is all about those young girls who sell their bodies to the media and souls to the devil just so they can obtain fame and "some" form of happiness. Girls want to be wanted, it makes us feel like we finally belong somewhere and we're safe. I only wish this song could somehow get to those girls who are considering becoming famous.

@CynicallyBritish True, she's not 23 and has a couple of kids now! What is interesting is that this video does not portray the situation which inspired her to write this song. Plumb was watching a beauty pageant and noticed how shallow and empty it all seemed for the contestants. So she wrote it from the perspective of a 23 year old beauty queen; but the heart-felt cry of the song regarding one's search for something deeper in a superficial culture can be applied more broadly to others as well.
