NEVER buy a computer from HP, Compaq, Dell etc etc if you use it for anything else than documenting and working on it, they cost twice as much, half as fast, a lot of different ways to suck money out of you blah blah blah, buy something from AMD/Intel and build it on your own, you'll save maybe 300-400$

Wow. You don't know anything about computers.

Have you ever opened your case and noticed that if you have 4 DIMM slots, 2 of them will be one colour , and the other 2 are white? that means you will need two sticks of ram on the same channel to get dual channel(both white or both blue). Tri channel needs 3 dimms to work properly.ALL core 2 processors utilize dual channel DDR2 or DDR3 it does not matter as long as they are on the same channel. Only tri channel RAM would not work on dual channel

im not on about that, ddr3 starts at 1066, that processor i doubt will just peak at that, there is no way the bandwidth of ddr3 is NEEDED. the processor bottlenecks the ram. DDR2 with tighter timings would of been more cost effective and better performing for this system.

DDR3 is "tri channel" either, the chipset does the channelling, which is why 1366 has tri channel but the 1156 does dual channel,
