  • This speech is legendary after seeing it in Capitalism a Love Story, I watched that movie so many times yet never bothered to look up the clip in full.

  • 1 person didn't land a fully loaded airliner into a river surrounded by a densely populated area....just sayin'.

  • Chesley B Sullenberger III is not only an excellent pilot, but he also has extraordinary abilities as a public speaker. Honestly: how many professional speakers can even be compared with Sullenberger, when it comes to rhetorical skills?

  • Too bad i can only give this a thumbs up once.

  • 0:54 .. and I Also brag about myself

  • AMEN TO THAT SULLY!

I am a recently licensed commercial pilot and the man is right, ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE A DIME IN AVIATION

  • lol these dudes are fucking angry youtube faggots.

  • hey boygeorge31,research is done, everyone knows.and "QUITE FRANKLY,my wanker is bigger than yours ,afterall you should ask your mother, how do you think your sorry ass came to be???,you came to be because of a tax write-off,so go drink your tea, take your meds, like a good little boy, before father figure puts an american made size 12 in your ass..

  • its very obvious that this JAGOFF (BOYgeorge31) doesnt know what the fuck he's talking about, especially not EVEN being in this country,he's just another low life SIMON WANNA BE in the british empire that wouldnt know reality if it bit came outta the sky, landed on his face, and started to wiggle, ultimately, these british fuckers are the TRUE REASON why this country's economy is messed up,do the homework folks,it came from these fuckers ALONG with our government's stupidity.

  • (coming from another fat yank with no academic ability, nor appropriate diction). Quite frankly, I am finding this absolutely hilarious. So simple to wind up it's unreal. No wonder you yanks are so 'trigger happy' as they say?

Hug one, shoot another - the 'American Dream'....

...and then, lets go scoff our faces with burgers! Huzzah! Great success! No wonder the U.S. are predominantly responsible for 'Global Warming' - they're too busy farting!

    Nevertheless,

  • it appears you, Mr. Nitrostang50, are stuck in the past. There is no 'British Empire', only the E.U.. Clearly, you are rather immature and bitter. It brings me most amusement to read that you claim the ''TRUE REASON'' your economy is messed up is down to us. What a sweeping statement, dear chap. All that, coming from a fat yank who had Alan Greenspan as chairman of US Federal Reserve who

  • was solely responsible for backing sub-prime lending and urged homebuyers to swap fixed-rate mortgages for variable rate deals, which left borrowers unable to pay when interest rates rose. In addition, your Bush administration failed to prevent vast amount of mortgage cash being lent to "Ninja" (No income, no job applicants) borrowers who could not afford them!!!

Let us not forget Abby Cohen - Goldman Sachs chief US strategist - a clown who couldn't even see previous share price crashes

  • or "Hank" Greenberg, AIG insurance group chief whose company had their own credit-rating cut, resulting in a liquidity crisis, thus needing an $85bn (£47bn then) bail out from the US government to avoid collapse. Instead of trying to clean the huge cock up they jointly produced, they thought it would be better to arrange a few lavish trips, including a $444,000 golf and spa retreat in California and an $86,000 hunting expedition to England. D'uh?

  • Ah...and then there's good ol' Dick Fuld - Lehman Brothers chief executive who failed to secure a deal to sell a large stake to the Korea Development Bank and most likely prevent its collapse. Fuld encouraged risk-taking and Lehman was still investing heavily in property at the top of the market. Some muppet huh? The list is endless: Lewis Ranieri, Joseph Cassano, Ralph Cioffi and Matthew Tannin, Chuck Prince, Angelo Mozilo, Stan O'Neal, Jimmy Cayne, Christopher Dodd and FINALLY, the good

  • @davidgeorge31

Pray for me. I gotta live in the same country as these idiots.

  • ol' American public who failed to even SEE that they were borrowing more than they could repay. Of course, us Brits had our own very big issues and I'm not saying we're innocent because for starters we had Fred 'The Shred' Goodwin to blame too, but ultimately, it is the U.S. who have been irresponsible with their finances to the point where they naturally point blame elsewhere.

  • @davidgeorge31

It's all to funny, they take out loans they know they will never repay. Then when the house of cards falls, they need to blame others. Cause America is never wrong. Like the 60 year old bus driver on CNN who got an $800,000 mortgage. It takes an American to think that woman would ever pay that loan off.

The worst part, financial derivatives caused the crash. They have no regulation at all. Still to this day. Yet, half of America thinks that no regulation is the best regulation.

  • So ultimately, I strongly suggest you, Mr. Nitrostang50, start doing your research before making a complete wanker of yourself to a financial analyst. Your comments are completely laughable.

    Au Revoir ;-)

  • @davidgeorge31

Nitrostang50 sounds like a right winger who has never stepped foot off American soil. Then again, it isn't hard to best an American. Half of us Americans are not very intelligent. If you have a college education, your called, "liberal elitist". I would be willing to bet that he doesn't even know that the Christian party all over the world are socialist. But here in America, the Christians are the ones who wish to oppress and only the strong survive.

  • By the way how do I get a transcript of this hearing...I know a couple of people in Italy in leading positions in the Aviation sector who do need urgently to listen to this!

  • Grazie Sully !!!!!

  • Capt Sullenberg this moment will remembered from pilots, crews, etc all over the world forever. Thank you for making the WAKEUP call to the many greedy entrepreneurs around the world who are saving money over the lives of pilots, crews and passengers. Let's hope this is just the beginning. We are all troubled about the future of this profession. Too many people know too little and understimate what it takes to do your job.

  • Those people should be grateful that Sully is a Native Texan...Rock solid...

  • its true that "revolving management teams" have been using dedicated hard workers with many years of service as an a.t.m.,take a good look around people, sadly, it exists in just about EVERY goddamn place you work in. its the companies way of saying thank you for all your years of service and by the way,FUCK YOU,now we have a reason for taking your job overseas while making your stay at our company a "living hell" as well as a sweatshop,WHILE getting a bailout from uncle sam with YOUR money.

  • Welcome to the aviation dark ages. I have been an aviation professional and pilot for the last 5 years. It is tough for the high experience pilots and impossible for new pilots getting into the industry. Today thousands of us are forced to put our passion and years of aviation training and education aside to find jobs in other industries, while continuing to fly airplanes for little or in some cases.. NO PAY. We spend years gaining experience with no hope of being able to make an average living.

  • Stop moaning you bloody idiot.

  • @davidgeorge31 ,go fuck yourself, and do all us the favor--- just go to hell, and while your're at it,take your godamn worthless family tree along with your trip.--let us hear more stupid shit from your mouth.

  • (coming from a fat yank)

  • I understand your point. Well taken. That said, you're still missing the point. He wasn't asking for pity. He wasn't complaining about his work. His point is that we MUST continue to keep pilots well trained and paid proportionally for their work and training. If we don't invest in training and smart pilots, ATC personnell, we risk everyone's safety.

  • f u

  • Loser.

  • whats your problem mr. first two names?

  • First two names? Big deal??? Lol, why do you make such a point about that? Anyway, with your utterly pathetic "F U" comment. Take it elsewhere. THAT's my problem. Ciao.

  • to be honest i don't even remember why i wrote that. IT WAS 3 MONTHS AGO! ciao fag

  • "Fag" - says the guy who can't even remember why he wrote an abbreviation of 'f*** you' on this thread. You, dear chap, are officially a pratt.

    Ciao ;)

  • ;-)? that's why i said fag. lol

  • Use proper grammar, chap. You clearly aren't capable of writing in a decent fashion - what with all that "F U" talk. You can't even start a sentence with a capital letter! Sigh.

Now lets pull apart your current comment. So you're saying that reason you wrote "fag" was because you can't even remember why you wrote the abbreviation of such on this thread? That doesn't even make sense, nor hold fort. Clearly, you're the type who goes around threads spamming abuse on perfectly acceptable

  • threads. What makes me laugh even more is you can't even REMEMBER something you've written! That's a classic, chap. I've really got to hand it to you there.

The moral of this story is as follows:

Don't write something which may not only cause offence to someone, but of which you can't even REMEMBER what you wrote it for! THINK before you write and stop being such a pratt in your responses when someone QUITE RIGHTLY brands you a loser after seeing such a POINTLESS comment posted!

  • But yes, indeed some people never learn the effect of their words upon others and I'm guessing you're yet another one of those. So that ends this communication and I strongly suggest that, in future, if you have nothing constructive to say on a YouTube video...

    DON'T say it.

For the last time, "cheerio". Fag, was it? ;)

  • that was the gayest novel i've ever read. you take this whole youtube thing way too far. just chill. if it was any of your business i would have went to your page and told you. so drink some tea and go fuck yourself. cuz it's homosexuals like you that make 90% of the population misunderstand and not welcome "your kind" with open arms. and by all your bullshit, your just proving my point about being a fag. so STFU

  • This guy has a great radio voice... He should maybe host a radio show on NPR about aviation.

  • Make Capt. Sullenberger and his crew in charge of operating Air force one.

  • Comment removed

  • He is a hero........... TWICE!

  • The only comment that I can make to Capt. Sullenberger's testimony it this;

When we work with Managements, manufacturers, government agencies and politicians, we ultimately cannot let desk jockies tell those of us with experience how to fly airplanes. There are a lot of desk drivers that make policy and procedures that just don't work in the real world. As Capt. Sully said the single most important piece of safety equipment in aviation is the pilot, and thinking human being.

  • Also the importance of union representation cannot be overstated. Some organization must be overseeing airline safety besides management and the FAA, which consist of a revolving door of airline executives that value business

above safety, and are constantly being lobbied by big business interests.

  • as a fellow airline employee, I couldn't agree more. We have had to endure extrmely hardtimes for 8 years similar to those that others have been experiencing recently. And it is so true: we have acted as human ATMs for airline executives that provide 3-5 years of failing service, and leave with multimillion dollar pensions that are funded by our own enormous loss of pension benefits, and a 40-45% salary cut in 2002 that has never been reinstated.

  • Bravo Capt Sully..Bravo... I know of Guys with 250 Hours of Total Flight Experience flying 100 Passenger Jet. They are no help in the Cockpit and the Capt has to do almost all the flying..Bravo Capt Sully Bravo...you are my Hero

  • I hope all Americans here this loud and clear! the true American hero is a union laborer not the greedy corporate CEO and executives whos whole goal is to reduce the quality of life of employees and passengers for personal profits exceeding 10s of millions of dollars each.

  • :-) Cool-headed passengers. That is true. That flight had a great group of passengers who helped each other.

  • Make Capt. Sullenberger the speaker of the house! He'll straighten this shit hole of a Congress!
