My front yard is giving problems. I have a maple tree with roots that run along the surface, if I use an aerator it might booger it up, too shady for Bermuda because of the tree shade and fescue has to be overseeded every year. What to do?
@kicknback123 Dirt Doctor passed this on to me in regards to your inquiry: "Just use the Garrett Juice Plus and Tree and Turf Thrive to accomplish the same thing without damage to tree roots."
I agree that deeper penetration would be better but the equipment available to homeowners is rarely capable of that. Going below the roots would be impossible in most cases. On the other hand, I don't even recommend core aerating that much any longer. Applying Garrett Plus and Turf Thrive is easier, more cost effective and works better.
your equipment is not penetrating the lawn deep enough. you should aerate to a depth of 2.5 inches; it appears you are aerating to a depth of 1 inch that is counter-productive. Also, your graphic of the aeration cross section is wrong. again, you should aerate below the root depth to encourge deeper, fuller root development and turn growth. good luck!
true- never start spinning then just drop the tines! you should lower the tines, then ease out the clutch very similar to a standard transmission...and hang on!
I agree, only pass over the same area twice in a season if it's very compacted. unless you are completely renovating. my customers don't want their lawns to look like I rototilled them!
he's dressed for golf, to aerate.....well why not:-)
