Although I am a bit interested in dinosaurs, I only know 4 species: Cetiosaurus, Isisaurus( both sauropods, but they are different species and lived in different time periods) and Rajasaurus and Indosuchus( both carnosaurs. They come from the same family of the abelisaurids and lived at the same time). That's all I know so far! :)

I think you're right that the T-rex and some of the more famous dinos were from the cretaceous. I seem to remember though, that there were more variety of dinosaur species in the Jurassic period.

Of course, we could determine the answer if either of checked wikipedia, but that wouldn't be as fun as comparing vague memories. :P

The Jurassic is considered to be the height of the Dinosaurs' dominance. In the Cretaceous you start to see the first mammals, and these other animals, sort of between reptiles and mammals. Dinosours were still around in the cretaceous though....

at least, this is what I remember from my historical geology class. :P

No way researchers found Dino eggs before and found no trace of DNA cause the insides of the eggs where fossilized. So no luck getting DNA from egg, but they did find Mummies of Dinos with skin, organs and even they food they've eaten well preserved
