  • Sounds a little too much like Black Star, if you get my drift.

  • badass

  • My favorite part is that all of your videos end with you reaching to turn off the camera.. It's practically epic... Awesome playing.

  • dont u ever wanna do guitar lesson?

  • can you give us any shredding songs to start off on to get to this level? :D

  • YOU ARE CRAZY!

  • 0:34 - 0:39, very, very nice phrasing! The shape reminds me of the first solo section of Necrophagist's "Only Ash Remains", although, of course, on a completely different and original context! Perhaps that's where you unconsciously got the inspiration. Love the ending too! So bad ass!

Sick, dude! I remember I read somewhere that you weren't interested in forming a band, if I may ask... why?

    Cheers!

  • @tiguilherman Yeah, that little lick was a bit only ash remains/faceless inspired. I've never had any luck forming a band were I live, so I just gave up trying. LOL

  • @leftlanetheory Never give up...you have a talent that so many wishful people will never develop in their entire lifetimes.

  • @leftlanetheory u anywhere near houston tx? lmao i need a guitarist haha its hard finding ppl to join

  • Epic Win

  • 0:35 - 0:39

    Epic tapping cannot be unseen.

  • As an aspiring guitarist (whos about to get an RG550! :D) im compelled to ask, how much knowledge do you have of the fretboard, theory, and how do apply this to your method? What is your method? Sorry if its a lot to answer. Thank you sir, your agile and articulate fingers are an inspiration.

  • great playing, great guitar, great solo :D

  • @ekpil I wouldn't say millions...I have never seen anyone standing on a street corner shredding like this...So obviously not millions that can play like this....

  • Fucking god mode. But seriously, this is epic.

  • HOW MANY GUITARS DO YOU HAVE¿?¿?

  • @leftlanetheory darn why didnt i even think of that i mean i can point out the modes people use in solos i guess i was so bent on just learning theory and composing my own music i totaly forgot other people used them too XD well ill upload some new vids on my other account xxnocturnalcobra i did a half ass cover of spiritual healing solo check it if u like

  • u sir are the shit. i love your composition skills

  • teach me how to haxorz like that. i hear like everyone cool combined in this solo, but still really original.

  • WHAT CHEAT IS THIS?

  • @Jamesg104 HAHAHA!! I want it too.

  • @Jamesg104 GOD MODE

  • @Jamesg104 godmode

  • You remind me alot of Ryan Knight both in parts of your playing, taste in guitars, and facial features....epic

  • Tasty.

  • sounds like jason becker :)

  • awesome

  • Great solo, very vinnie moore like

I use the C Phygrian scales but I merge the harmonic minor and regular minor variations together to make is more melodic, playing a fast shreddy lick in strickly harmonic minor can be tricky so I just replace the awkward notes with the ones in the regular minor scale whilst still retaining the exotic feel

  • @guitarshredking The only difference between harmonic minor and natural minor is a raised 7th.

So no, you can't retain the exotic feel of a harmonic scale if you play a minor 7th instead of a major 7th.

  • @guitarshredking what I mean is I form my own pattern by omitting certain notes but keeping that sharp 7th in the mix, this forms tight note patterns

Ill put up a video shortly when i get a camera to show you what I mean.

  • Sounds Petrucci-ish, awesome solo

  • thats not all straight phrygian i heard phrygian dominant in there aswell man with diminished

  • @joesatriani1200rulez Listen to the backing... totally phrygian vamp. and, ofc he will play diminished stuff to a phrygian dominant vamp...

  • @joesatriani1200rulez that's because music theory allows to use notes that are actually not in a scale. yay for music.

  • yeah but thats what most jazzers do because say he's playing in E phrygian he can play E major which has the major third and over an F major he can play the F note so this equals the E phrygian dominant or A harmonic minor and you can play the B diminished scale because the three scales equally share some of the same notes but not all of the B diminished scale but you can use it

  • there are are notes in your lydian improvisation video which aren't in the scale, and this video is much, much better

  • i played one wrong note . lydian has the raised 4th

  • well obviously theres diminished in a phrygian dominant scale, from the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 7th scale degree one can build a diminished 7th arpeggio...

  • yeah i know dude thats why i said it haha and why are all my comments getting bad -5 when im 100% right , there's diminished in there which is built of the 2nd 5th and 7th and phrygian dominant which has the major3rd thus. the major3rd is usually a leading note back into what ever key your in , dosent mean it has to be in E but i heard the major third aswell , i know its phrygian but he's relating notes within the 2 different phrygian scales which is makin the dark disinctive sound of phrygian.

  • What scale is this?

  • It's mostly the Phrygian mode.;)

  • @inyourfacee Phrygian dominant. minor 2nd, major 3rd, minor 6th and minor seventh

  • Ty!

  • @inyourfacee nothin!

  • Gawd damn I love this. Absolute perfect use of the phrygian mode/scale/whatever you want to call it. Why aren't you in a legit metal band?

  • shit dude you kill

  • This sounds much like a Jason Becker type influence!

Listen to Temples of the Absurd very similar.

Your very talented I can tell you practice alot,

    your timing is perfect.

You should cover some Vital Remains song you would totally put up the best cover.

    i completely enjoyed this.

  • This guy is sooooo underrated! Its pissing me off : This guy has only 15 000 views for this amazing masterpiece and fags like funtwo get millions of views for doing a fucking cover of canon rock WTF.

  • agreed. canon rock isn't as impressive as this. matrach is another one that gets too much attention. block head.

  • cannon rock is a shit, you cann't compare that with this piece...

  • @Soulreaper066 well that's because canon d is catchy.

  • @Soulreaper066

mattrach does way more than playing canon rock he maakes good songs. and ereally is a talented guy.

  • @Soulreaper066 as for cannon rock, of course, but he has tons of other very creative stuff, to which there's rarely any competition.

  • @drook666 canon rock is gay as fuck, so as that funtwo kid

  • @drook666 it's all about how you tag your vids. I know, it's gay.

  • great! awesome! good job, dude!

  • is that a maple neck?

  • Duh >.>

  • no. its a neck made out of an alligator

  • maybe can you just break off a little talent and give it to me?...just a litlle??? hahaha

  • same guitar as michael keene's old one from the faceless. this guy even plays like him/sort of looks like him. its really boggling my mind. anyway, good shit regardless. kudos

  • that was insane

  • lol

  • its not sharped....its just made a regular 7. its a flat seven in minor modes

  • there are 7 modes to learn Ionian Dorian Phrygian Lydian Mixolydian Aeolian Locrian there is more than one way to play each mode an the guitar so its better to learn the mode and how it works and think of it that way not patterns.

also there is the melodic minor scale and the harmonic minor scale you should know those too. to add to that the diminished, half diminished, whole tone, and diminished whole tone scales are good ones to learn too.

  • Holy fuck... Nice job bro.

  • i love the backround kind of music and by the way you are pretty amazing

  • What's an harmonic minor scale? I know whats a minor scale but not an harmonic minor one.. O.o

  • Someone clearly likes harmonies.

  • is it true that their is only 7 patterns to learn and they're like:the phrygian one, the dorian one ect? (Sorry for my stupid question but i'm trying to learn theory :) )

  • Phrygian, Dorian, Lydian, etc. are the seven MODES but thats different than scales which are pentatonic, melodic minor, etc. and also you can play them all in different keys which adds even more flexibility and practice in different time signatures all w/ a metronome that's what my guitar teacher tells me keep playing with a metronome if i want to get really good

  • best solo ive ever herd....

  • holy fuck i favorited and subscribed. Thats was probably my favorite solo i've every heard. love how it sounds.

  • wow, you've never listened to Metallica then

  • what are you 13, go listen to the jonas brothers, i'm actually a big fan of metallica u faggot?

  • i've been listening to Metallica for 10 years, have all their albums

and you're telling me this sounds like them?

    no way

  • then it probably wasn't me..I share my youtube account with my brother..............I know this isn't like metallica at all i couldn't see the comment that he made 6 days ago so i had no idea what we were really arguing about

  • HAHAHAHA JONAS BROTHERS

  • are those drums real or fake i cant tell? if they arent made from a real drummer what program did you use?

and what tuning you use? ur nasty as fuck dude. ur necrophagist solos make mine look like garbage.

do me a favor and do a cover of some beneath the massacre shit.

  • im pretty sure its a drum loop

  • wow this was awesome, how do you know how tyo make a solo into a phyrgian mode? how do you do it... do you have any tips on how i can learn

  • sounds soooo much like after the burial. sounds really good.

  • Fuck that, this guy blows that entire band away all by himself.

  • it does, after the burial fucking owns

  • You could be the next paul gilbert,

    you have so much talent,

if it were up to me you would be the best guitarist ever :)

  • Hey dude I wanna start learning theory and I might buy the guitar grimoire but, is ALL the theory important? And, after how many years you learned all this bunch of theory??

  • Theory is SUPER important. It's hard to solo at all without knowing theory. You should try to learn as much as you can. You can never know too much theory.

  • yeah kirk hammet still takes lessons lol, its so abstract and so many people have different takes on it so the more people you learn from the more versatile you become, assuming that thery're a good teacher ;)

  • I would beg to differ if you know scales and are comfortable with them its easy to solo w/o knowledge of theory. I've been playing 4 years I find it easy to solo, granted i don't know a lot of scales(pentatonic, major, harmonic minor, and learning phrygian) i find it easy to solo if you know the scale, you can kind of tell what will sound good.

  • i had this teacher who played for more than 40 years. he actually said the opposite, don't let theory box you in, when you start learning to play guitar you have these little things that sound cool but you can't explain, theory washes you clean of that. you let the theory play you

  • Work on practical theory first.

  • don't buy the guitar grimoire.

write out the modes on a piece of paper just draw the guitar neck. do that with the the major scale you have the entire "diatonic neck"

do sharp the five of the major scale and you have harmonic minor.

for melodic minor think of a major scale with a flat 3 thats it.

write it out, memorized, love it and you you will find that the guitar grimoire did the same thing but for the key of e, f, f sharp, g flat, g, g sharp, a flat you get the drift.

  • I may be mistaken but if your want to create a harmonic minor from a major scale, dont you have to flatten the 3rd and the 5th?

  • flat the 3rd and 6th, then leave the 7th natural

  • Ah lol, typo, i meant 6th ^^ Thanks

  • Do you have tabs for this? Im trying to learn Phyrgian scales.

  • as usual , fuckn awesome

  • I would really appreciate if you could explain the theory behind how you wrote this. specifically I wanted to know how you matched the scales/modes you were playing in with the chords in the background. I would really appreciate this =)

  • The backing chords are F# G E, which are the 1st, 2nd, and 4th notes of the F# phrygian scale, So essentially: play the scale that shares the same notes as the chord/progression and you'll be alright.

I view the phrygian mode as the 5th note of any Harmonic Minor scale. Put simply: instead of starting on the 1st note of the Harmonic Minor scale, start on the 5th, and you have phrygian.

  • thank you so much! I'll be sure to practice doing something like this. I'm not nearly as fast as you, but the idea of creating a solo is really intriguing to me.

  • that's the phrygian dominant!

  • sure is, 5th mode of Harmonic minor.

  • 75% of the music i write is at least originally based out of spanish gypsy or 5th mode of hm same thing. one of the most intense and awesome scales in existance.

  • Unfortunately there is no easy way to learn theory. I suggest checking out "Guitar Grimoire" "Fretboard logic volumes 1 & 2" and whatever else you come across that seems helpful.

  • yes I actually have the guitarist grimoire...not sure which volume, but its the all black one. It's extremely useful as a handbook, but it doesn't seem to explain theory or chord progressions as much. "Fretboard logic" seems like it may prove more useful to me though.

  • Yeah, the black one is the one im talking about. It might not make much sense, but it actually taught me the most. You will notice that there are only 7 fretboard patterns for each of the modes. SO if you were playing harmonic minor pattern I for the key of A, it is the exact same fretboard pattern for pattern I of B minor, only only the root note starts on B, rather than A.

SO essentially, you only need to memorize 7 patterns. They are the same 7 patterns for every key.

  • at first i didnt understand in this convo wtf you guys were talking about, then i realized that i was learning the whole 7 pattern thing when i first started learning how to alternate pick. and then i soon started making my own solos.

hey by the way, what do you think of Guthrie Govan? lol

  • For example, Memorize all the patterns for G major, and know the pattern above and below where your playing. Then Go flip the E minor Scale, and you will notice they are the EXACT same patterns, and they occur in the same order. you will begin to realize the correlation between the patterns and it will unlock doors!

  • however, wouldn't the patterns change once you get to harmonic minor with the b6, and other such scales? I understand that major and minor are the same, and I have already been memorizing all the mode patterns in the minor scale already. But other 7 tone scales are different, correct?

  • yeah, harmonic minor is a whole nother mode. So the patterns change. I was strictly talking the Major Diatonic scale. Regardless, there are only 7 patterns for harmonic minor, and they are similar to the standard 7 modes with the exception of a few flats and sharps.

  • i love playing in phrygian...but i need to broaden it and get into the habit of playing in all of the modes

  • Why are you not famous?! lol
