  • Thanks - great advice - followed the directions and now have a much sharper knife. It took the hairs off my arm with ease!

  • Good. Thank you very much. Feel much more confident of what I'm doing now.

  • what if i have a sword....

  • Great video I now no how to sharpen a knife. High five yay!

  • you look like a lesbian i know

  • great video I was doing everything wrong!

  • all that does is true the edge back to it's original edge, you won't get it sharper than it originally was when it was new. If you want it sharper you'll have to put a new bevel and edge on the blade

  • i hate how this guys eyes are shifting like he has no idea what hes talking about..

  • they call it a honing rod for a reason ... your honing the blade ... not sharpening it

  • Good video on sharpening!

  • you kick ass!! my K-A-Bar can shave hair again lol!

  • Gee, I've been doing this the wrong way for 30 years! Thanks!

  • @louismg Most people do. Also the smoother you make the edge the longer it lasts.

  • Thank you! My knife was so dull, up until now I had no idea how to sharpen it. Thanks

  • git er duuunnnn

  • great video man had the angles wrong...

  • thanks for the Information, just bought a Kitchen set with one of those rods, thanks for your time and Video.(too bad the knives aren't even sharp enough to hone yet!)

  • can you tell me how much force i should be applying?

  • thanks dude

  • really great, thanks for the help

  • This video is very informative. Thank you!

  • His "alright" gets annoying.

  • re ervandsarkisyan: As a verbal tick, "alright" is one of the least annoying ones really.

Consider, "Basicly", "Actually", "Go ahead and", "YOU KNOW" (f**k I hate that one), weird sucking noises and of course the ever popular "um".

All things considered, this guy is probably one of the better, more relaxed amateur public speakers around; I can live with the occasional "alright".

  • That's all well and good, but a steel is not to be used for sharpening. Steels are meant to realign or hone (hence it being called a honing steel) the blade after being sharpened on a stone. There are some specially made to sharpen, but I would definitely not say they're more efficient.

  • thank you
