The hardware was set by other member of our lab. He told me the devices he used were a set of spy (mini) camera bought from online shopping website. He also told me these kind of device were common and not expensive.
The camera had wireless transmitting function and was capable of sending the image back within the range about 50 meters. You don't need to set up anything. Just connect the devices with battery and you laptop, you can get the real-time image. It cost about $25.

Do you mean to start to fly an RC helicopter? I think it is necessary for a beginner to find someone as the master. To find a local RC shop or club maybe a good start. :-)

Hovering is when you stay in one place so very misleading on Tag line but nice control I'm sure that it is hard !
