another simple build or should i say assembly all done in a nice cosy workshop with all the facilities...so glad im old enough to remember the days of true custom built bikes.. its a bit like follow yer leader.or simple simon says ..bring back originality..
Yes, this is an assembly operation, but only after fabrication and a dry build. The whole premise of the project was to see what as achievable on a budget, to encourage people to have a go themselves rather than just bolt on a few gee-gaws and call it a custom.
Can't believe you've got a problem with a fully equipped workshop: some of us have gone beyond working under a tarpaulin by gaslight with borrowed spanners, structurally lethal bird-shit welding, rattle-can black and moped brakes. Sorry!
That would depend on who put the hours in: the idea was that it would within the scope of a half-way decent mechanic - or calling on the services of mates who have those skills - albeit taking longer than it would a fully-equipped workshop. In this oarticular case, you'd need to talk to Andy or Tooty at Thundercity, they know what their charge-out rate is, and how long they've got booked against it. Beyond that, any build depends on talent, imagination, budget and the state of the doner bike.
Hey Guy's I'm into American Iron and V engines too.. And what I just seen built is AWESOME.. From the asphalt up BUT It would also be nice to see something with a Triumph engine. British built and British rule
I hear what you're saying, but it's a tough call with a magazine called American-V: maybe one day we'll do Brit Twin Magazine (and stretch the rules for singles and triples, as surely as we'll one day have to do for Indian 4s but hopefully not for Topper Scooters), until then you've got the pocket size mags. The real bugger is that there aren't that many old Brit bikes out there, and there isn't an S&S equivalent knocking out new versions of old Brit motors ... yet!

It'll be good to see the two of them side by side for the next issue of the mag, and maybe even a video roadtest?
And then, of course, there's the public vote at The Thundersprint in Northwich on 10/11th May '08
