  • Considering who is left in the race Barr is the best candidate left in the race. People can change their stance if people didn't change there would far fewer Libertarians. Whoever said you have to stay in the two party system didn't pay attention to how the GOP kept the Ron Paul delegates out of conventions at many states even breaking their own rules to accomplish it. It is important to break the two party duopoly.

  • lol....Bob Barr couldn't be a pimple on Ron's ass!

He voted for the Patriot act, for fuck's sake!

  • He made mistakes, but he has greatly changed and now he is a paleo-conservative, not a neo-con! Please look at the new Bob Barr.....you might be surprised at his outlook on life! He understands the size of government has gotten too big!

  • I'm voting for Bob Barr! I'll miss Ron Paul, but he did the right thing pulling out, so that Bob can get some of his votes. The Constiution guy Baldwin talks about God all the time and how everything is in God's hands - i don't know about you, but that's pretty scarey too me, especially in light of how things are already out of our hands right now!

  • Barr is by far a much better choice for the leader of our great country than either Obama or Mc Cain...smaller government and more liberty should always be formost in the minds of a freedom loving people like many of the well informed and inteligent patriots who still reside in our great nation...well at least i can hold out hope that some people haven't been brainwashed by the nanny state promoting media and their handpicked nominees yet.

  • Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party for President!!!

    The Ron Paul rEVOLution continues!

Bob Barr, we don't believe you! You're an ex-CIA agent who voted FOR the Patriot Act and you support the War on Drugs...you're no libertarian! You people should really check out Chuck Baldwin and see what you think!

    baldwin2008(.)com

  • that's what i've been saying!!

Barr just kind of glosses over his CIA ties and HORRIFIC voting record.

He sounds more like a divisive CIA infiltrator than a Libertarian to me.

  • Bob Barr is not attempting to be the next Ron Paul. Barr is the leader of the Libertarian Party for smaller government and promoting individual rights. Ron Paul is currently a Republican, supporting the party that has recently been collaborating with the Democrats to further bloat the government and demote freedom. While I have donated money to Ron Paul for his great work speaking out for freedom, I will be voting for Bob Barr for President, not Ron Paul.

  • Ron Pauls a statesman and a leader period. Strategy of running on a Rep ticket is the only way to get into a 2 party system. Regardless of the R title, Ron Pauls' fights in congress are the true libertarian values. He does not support neocon agendas. And unlike Barr he has an excellent track record.

  • Bob Barr is a distraction, designed to split the revolution.

He voted for the war and the Patriot Act, is pro abortion, changed position on the drug war, and isn't for ending the income tax... among other things.

Why do you think he's getting so much positive press coverage? Don't be fooled!

Chuck Baldwin 2008! (Because he didn't have to CHANGE to get your vote.)

  • Chuck Baldwin's main platform policy emphasizing border enforcement is wrong. Mexico is not the enemy, Iraq is not the enemy. Al Queda is the enemy that attacked us. The border with Mexico is not our main issue, precisely the opposite. Mexicans and Canadian's both hate terrorists, building a Berlin style wall in California would be a step backwards. Wealth is created by free enterprise, which would be stymied by Baldwin's plans. Baldwin is right, however, about pulling troops out of Iraq.

  • 800,000 people crossing our border yearly is a problem. Drug cartels crossing our border yearly are a problem. We have caught people profiled from terrorist countrys crossing our border. AlQueda is not a country but people with no borders who can walk among candians and mexicans across our borders. Security is keeping people out. Therefore border enforcement is right.

  • a country without borders is no country at all. how can we possibly be a country with huge numbers of people, we know nothing about, coming and going at will? doesn't make a bit of sense. we would be overwhelmed in no time. if you don't think there is a problem along the southern border, go try living in that area. it is getting totally out of control already. numerous racists anti-american gangs terrorizing neighborhoods in southern california. don't believe it, go there and see for youself.

  • Your correct, Bob Barr did vote for the patriot act, HOWEVER, he did say in many other speeches that he was wrong to vote for it, and is now totally against it, and if voted president will take the patriot act out! BOB BARR FOR president, he has MANY of the same views as Ron Paul!! He fights for the freedom and rights of the Americans less taxes and smaller government.

  • I think we should just face facts here. Obama is the next president. Voting at this point is meaningless. What we should do now is support the Ron Paul Revolution in the stage it's in now. Come on, we knew from the start he wasn't going to be president, but we stuck by him. It's the message and its revolution we really make a statement with.

  • At this point, Obama is definately not the next president. He is only four points ahead in the polls. Dems usually need to be more than 7 points ahead by now to win because people vote more conservative at the last minute. Obama being only 4 points ahead even though the economy is bad under Republicans, this speaks unfavorably to Obama's chances of winning. McCain is in the lead under these factors.

  • Bob Barr voted for the Patriot Act, Ron Paul didnt. So no, Bob Barr is absolutely NOT the next Ron Paul.

  • You must vote Bob Barr for freedom and Humanity!!! He speaks the truth, and answers straight with no run arounds! If u notice, CNN ABC FOX NEWS 9 ALL try and make him out to a bad person, and try to put words into his mouth...hes the only one who speaks the truth, they are all paid to try and make Bob Barr and Ron Paul out to be the bad guy, sure he's older then the other candidates, but it speaks for experience!

  • Barr is no neocon. He is conservative...whereas the GOP has neocon/globalist (liberals) controlling it. Barr is just like Paul...same thing. They both believe in individule rights over goverment control. And Barr did NOT go for the war in Iraq.

  • I have problems with People associated with the CIA. They make like two faced presidents. Bob Barr 8 years with CIA. Wiki Bob Barr.

  • Please don't make the comparison between Barr and Ron Paul. There is no separation between Barr and the rest of the neocons.

I feel like the Libertarian party has been hijacked.

  • Bob Barr tried to sneak legislation to rob a religious group of their constitutional right to worship. He was most strenuously attacking those of the Wiccan (constitutionally protected) religion that were actively serving (and dying) for this country.

His vote for the Patriot Act is unforgivable and is completely anti-Libertarian.

    Don't be deceived.

  • Guess what folks - in the game of politics, name recognition is everything. Many more of the "general public" know who Barr is; the same can't be said for Root or any of the other LP candidates.

Barr may not "be Ron Paul" but unless Paul gets nominated by the RP (basically now impossible), Barr has my vote. If you want to "feel good" about yourself, you can vote for any write-in candidate you want. If you want to try to get something done, vote for someone who will be on the ballot.

  • Mr. user7145,

I'd rather not vote than vote for Mr. Barr (unless he decides to actually become a libertarian).

I'd rather cast a blank ballot than not vote.

Finally, I'd rather write-in "Ron Paul" than cast a blank ballot.

    Respectfully yours,

    Alex Peak

  • To sum up -- Ron Paul has "been there done that" with the third parties. He has gotten substantially more attention for his issues running as a Republican candidate from the media than he would have as a Libertarian candidate this year.

Barr has -name recognition- ... he is a former Congressman. He has changed a bit - formerly a drug warrior, he is now a lobbyist for the Marijuana Policy Project. He'll be able to get support and will be on the ballot in most states.

    [cont]

  • This is textbook COINTELPRO, misinfo, disinfo, and this guy was in the CIA you say?

Divide and Conquer is their strategy, if your gonna vote, its Paul or no one.

  • This guy sounds like Mitt Ronmey when he said the first thing hes gonna do if he gets in the whitehouse is abolish the IRS. Their all frauds, just saying what is trendy. Ron Paul has me convinced, either he is the antichrist or he is The One.

  • Ron Paul is my President. Everyone else is either an imitation or an abomination... or both.

  • How do you expect to further the Ron Paul Revolution if you won't support anyone but Ron Paul. He is no longer running, and you have to make a choice on who you will vote for.

  • Technically he is not campaigning. But still running, if we convince enough people at the national conference theres a possibility of a floor nomination. If enough people abstain from voting there will be a brokered convention.

  • Barr voted for the patriot act and the war. Obama and Hillary also regret those votes. Infact even McCain now has an epiphany and promising to bring the troops home by 2013. I suggest you look at Chuck Baldwin the Constitution party nominee. He endorsed Ron Paul very long before Barr and campaigned for Ron Paul hard in many states.

  • Thank you.

  • so disappointed.

  • Do you know he was the Anti-Drug coordinator for the Department of Justice, or that he was employed by the CIA from 1970-1978? That he voted for both the Patriot Act and the War in Iraq and that his PAC routinely gives money to Republicans running for office ... against Libertarians?? I'm voting Ron Paul - STILL! even if I have to write him in...McCain will be seriously hurt by this McClellan book out now.

  • I am a Ron Paul fan. Big time! However, he can't win at this point. He has said he's staying in to spread the message. But, he can't win the Republican ticket as he doesn't have enough delegates by a long shot. He's also said he won't run 3rd party. So, even though he's officially in, he's out.

  • never ever.

He _might_ be Ron Paul wannabe (or at least want his supporter), but he fails at it.

  • Great point.. he wants the Ron Paul support.. to break up Ron Paul supporters and weaken the Ron Paul movement... NOT GONNA HAPPEN... did he or did he not vote for the patriot act.. if yes.. there is your answer... Go Dr. Ron Paul..

  • Fuck Barr!

  • This could have be a banner year for moderate libertarians. Instead we get a conspiracy nut (Paul) and the guy who led the charge against a blowjob. Fucking pitiful.

  • barr voted for the iraq war, the patriot act, the drug war...

barr is a joke... he does not love liberty..

  • If you read his current stances, you will find that he stepped out of the GOP because he was very sorry to have voted the way he did... and that he feels that the country is in definite trouble. Yes, he made mistakes. Yes, he's trying to bring things back to a libertarian view point.

  • Mr. richpalmerUSA,

Looking at his current stances, he appears to have changed very little. He told Hannity recently on national television that he supports having a war on drugs (unlike Paul). He has endorsed creating a national sales tax (unlike Paul). He recently stated that it is insane for anyone to support a time-table for Iraq (as Paul had done). In a letter to his supporters, he actually tried to rationalise his vote in favour of the USA PATRIOT Act.

    Respectfully yours,

    Alex Peak

  • Barr is a real libertarian. You might be confusing libertarian with anarchist. He told Hannity that he opposed legalizing heroic and cocaine, but he is also on record for ending the war on drugs. "Been there done that. It doesn't work." -Barr, Washington Times, May. You can end the war on drugs without passing out crack to all school children. He's said he wants an immediate drawn down of troops and to get tehm all out and to stop the nation building. He's realistic about picking a date.

  • Mr. HardyMachia writes, "You can end the war on drugs without passing out crack to all school children."

True. But, you *cannot* end the war on drugs without decriminalising heroin and cocaine. Ergo, Mr. Barr does not want to end the war on drugs.

Wasn't Michael Badnarik polling at five percent, too? I consistently see Libertarians poll significantly higher than the votes we actually end up getting.

I am not confusing one form of libertarianism (anarchism) with libertarianism itself.

  • Badnarik's poll was not legit. It didn't include even include Nader who was going to be on the ballot in the state that they did the poll it. It was like George Phillies poll that showed him at twenty something percent this year. The NC poll for Barr included all the candidates on the ballot this year in NC. The numbers can go down as it gets closer to the election, but we are far enough out that there is plenty of time for Barr to continue to get major media to sure up his numbers and improve.

  • Also, Barr has said a fair tax tax is one possibility, but we must reduce spending substantially first. I'd rather see nothing replace the income tax, but the main issue is reducing spending and Barr is a touting a very strong libertarian line on reducing spending. Barr is doing a good job reaching the general public which is why he polls 5-7%. Paul has done unlibertarian things, but overall Paul is doing good for liberty, just as Bob Barr doing good now. bobbarr2008(dot)come

  • Alex,

Please stop spreading misleading information. Go to bobbarrforums(dot)com and read the "Barr needed to vote for the Patriot Act" by Bradley in DC. The anti-patriot act groups needed Barr to vote in favor of it so he could get on the House/Senate conference committee to make further improvements to protect our rights. It's politics and sometimes you need to make these tradeoffs. If he voted no like Paul, then the Patriot Act would have even been worse than it is.

  • Mr. HardyMachia,

He could have abstained from voting. That sort of trade-off I could accept.

It's not my intent to spead mis-information. I'm just stating things as I see them, so as to convey why I am concerned about Mr. Barr's candidacy.

    Sincerely,

    Alex Peak

  • He voted for it beacuse special provisions were added, but the Bush admin completely ignored those provisions and violate the act itself. You are correct

  • Let me tell you why I am not scratching my head. Because in this historic election, a man with enough power to possibly even get into the debates, is doing the best he can to roll back the state. Whether he's perfect or not is irrelevant as we watch our country deteriorate. The question is, if we are on a sinking ship, do we have time to question someone trying to throw out a life preserver? Encourage all positive Liberty minded candidates! BARR 2008!

  • Excellent point, but I'm still scratching my head. I am certain the fascist elite despise Ron Paul and are determined to destroy his grassroots movement. Their main concern is, Paul might gain enough support to push for a speech at the convention. Barr might blunt that push. I can relate to your comment about the life preserver, sadly most people don't know they're in the water.

  • Maybe he's changed (???), but to me and I'm sure a LOT of other Americans, Barr is the poster boy for when the Republican Party lost ALL sense of priorities in the late 90's.

What's next, Ken Starr as VP? (lol) The sex police ticket? Going backward folks . . .

Sad day if Ron Paul endorses Barr . . .

  • No I'm not scratching my head. It's cause they know Ron won't be in the race after Sept. 4.

  • Now we get to choose between the lesser of three evils. Great. I wanted a REAL Libertarian ticket, Mary Ruwart and Steve Kubby. Instead, we got a conservative ticket that bordres on neoconservative and they will only confuse people as to what it means to be a Libertarian. We can always write in Ron Paul...

  • Bob Barr is no libertarian, i will not be voting for this piece of shit.

  • i heard he made a big fuss about Clinton's infidelities - not very libertarian of him ...why is Barr even a serious nominee ?

  • No. idiotwind75, this is Bob Barr, not a "new Ron Paul", they are 2 very different people. Bob Barr is no Ron Paul. But, since Ron Paul is sticking with the Republican Party, someone was run for the Libertarian Party, simple enough. Bob Barr is running to give the American People more choice, do you understand? More Candidates = More Choice. Bob Barr & Ron Paul both running is a good idea, not a conflict of interests. He's not a new Ron Paul, just another libertarian, there's lots of them

  • Another candidate that just talks about what the libertarian party stands for but BRINGS NOTHING to help uphold these values. Mike Gravel brings less government by empowering the people as lawmakers and takes control a corrupt government by giving that power to the people via the NI4D. Bob Barr and Ron Paul are both a joke.

  • So empowering the people who are corrupted by the media. Is that any better than the oligarchy controlling it now? Democracys fail everytime. Thats why we have a Republic. A nation of laws. Only problem NO one is enforcing the LAWS. Making more laws under NI4d doesnt resolve anything. It would be more feasible to have anarchy to overthrow the government and restore a new republic. Then educate people how to protect it.

  • It's your anti-human line of thinking that is the biggest threat to America. Your belief that Americans are so weak that the media control them, you are wrong. That is what the extremists believe. You share the idealogy with Hitler and Stalin, who would agree with you that laws are more important than individual rights. Law enforcement is the biggest and most powerful that it has ever been. Freedom and strong individual rights are what made America great, prosperous and livable.

  • Well apparently the media does control(persuade) people. Its not my thinking its my observation. The laws of the constitution and bill of rights protect individual rights. However a democracy of idiots can overthrow it if the media fools them into it. The law enforement im talking about is not police. Its enforcing RULES in courts and congress. Those laws that that protect our libertys. Its removing laws that are unconstitutional. Democracys do not protect individual rights or freedoms.

  • Bob Barr is NOT the new ron paul. This stooge voted for the homeland security act and patriot act, he's iffy on truly sticking to principles, fuc* him.

  • what people fail to notice is the fact that he might be the front runner for the republican party or even the conservatives but the founding fathers created the presidential office it was to be used as a liaison between country's and of course to maintain freedom by having the ability to make a military but it was never intended to be used as a giving the people what they want just to get elected act that what the founding fathers were afraid would happan and thats what bobbarrrepresentssmallgov

  • I wish Bob Barr were the Republican candidate for President, with his present Libertarian views. As a Republican, he would stand a better chance of winning, and would have a better chance of beating Obama than McCain.

  • Wrong. The corporate-owned/controlled media (some of which have defense contracts) do not want an anti-war candidate that they cannot control. Have you heard anything about Bob Barr? Is the media saying there are 4 candidates? Hell no. They aren't going to give him any more respect than they did Ron Paul.

It isn't about the candidate. It's about who they are in bed with. O'Bamanation, Hitlery and McVain are butt buddies with those who REALLY run this country.

  • no im not confused or scratching my head ron paul is running on the conservative republican party while bob barr is running under the libertarian ticket there is a large diffrence if ron paul is a true libertarian he should run on that ticket if not then he should not claim he is a libertarian supporter

  • Bob Barr has the same views as Ron Paul. So RP's supporters will support him since Paul isn't gonna run as a 3rd party candidate for pres. When all the states are finally done Ron Paul will prolly endorse him.

  • It would be interesting if he ran for VICE President. I don't think he's ever ruled this out. What if Bob Barr could get the message heard and then he asked Ron Paul to be his VP? Wouldn't that be interesting!

  • how about we compromise and respect all the libertarian party candidates. it is great the libertarian party is getting a little more diverse in views. it is mark of party growing.

  • i actually favor gravel personally since i've moderated quite a bit economically since i worked with ron crickenberger in 2002. ron was pretty amazing to watch during conventions too. i would even be happy with bill richardson. however, i see barr as the best candidate for this election cycle.

  • jeep: You might want to read Barr's blog. Supporting him would make Ron Crickenberger roll over in his grave. Barr's against jury nullification of law. Says so, plain as day. He was for the prosecution of Genarlow Wilson. He's in favor of playing drug war politics in Colombia with our tax money (and military). To hell with Barr, he's not a libertarian. I'm voting for Root in Denver, with no regrets. He's the only LP candidate who can carry on the Paul revolution. ROOT FOR AMERICA!

  • I was a volunteer of the Libertarian campaign to remove Bob Barr from office in 2002. I can send you the web site I built for it. Bob Barr has made a radical turn around. He just needed a swift kick in the ass. I'm proud to have done that. Now, I want to give McCain a swift kick in the ass.

  • Ron Paul is still in the race, but he can't win. It's over. He'll get 5 more minutes of fame at the convention and if and when he gives an endorsement. Ron Paul's endorsement is the only thing significant left from Ron Paul in 2008.

  • let's shake it up this year and vote Libertarian.

No more lesser of 2 evils BS.

  • wayne allen root is a nut. ron paul is a nut. mike gravel is a nut. bob barr isn't a nut.

  • Bob Barr = homophobe, authored the "Defense of Marriage Act"; drug warrior, never disavowed his terrible record in congress of outright oppression; former prosecutor, agrees with "voir dire" and "motions in limine" and disagrees with jury nullification and jury rights; agreed with the prosecution over Genarlow Wilson. I'm voting for Wayne Root! A REAL LIBERTARIAN, ON THE GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT!

  • You might need to be aware that members of Ron Paul's staff are from the U.S. Constitution Party, which is anti-gay in their platform. Baldwin, presidential candidate of the Constitution Party, often promoted as part of his revolution, is anti-gay in his platform.

  • A) RON PAUL IS NOT RUNNING ON THE LP TICKET!!

    B) Wayne Allyn Root is not at all a nut. He's passionate for smaller government and conservative Libertarian. To me, politically, he's a likable version of Barr, with no skeletons in his closet.

    C) Gravel is NOT a nut. He's also passionate, and I'd love to see Gravel as president. I'd also like to see Wayne Allyn Root as vice president, and I would hate to see the Newt Gingrich Republican Barr take the LP nomination!

  • Root just seems a little hyperactive. Gravel is a socialist. The reformed Libertarian Barr has the ability to steal the election from McCain.

  • Wayne Allen Root for President 2008!!!!!!

  • Wayne Allyn Root for President, 2008!

  • BoB Barr is plan B, in case John McCain is nominated.

  • Right idea, wrong "plan B". I'm voting for Wayne Root on May 25, in Denver. Root has agreed to support all of Ron Paul's leglislation if he gets elected president. Paul is not likely to be on the ballot in Nov. Wayne Root, the Libertarian nominee, will be. I would never vote for a homophobic, drug warrior former prosecutor like Barr. It's good he's a Libertarian Party member, but he shouldn't be running for them until he fully agrees with individual freedom (esp. jury rights).

  • Bob Barr is a neocon, check his voting record. Ron Paul is the real deal!

  • I am a HUGE supporter of Ron Paul. However, we have to look at reality. The platform Ron Paul argues will NOT be on the ballot this November. Who will we vote for if not McCain? Bob Barr will be a name on the ballot that Ron Paul-minded voters will be able to vote for because Ron Paul will not be on the ballot. I believe in the principles of limited government and expanded freedom. Ron Paul's campaign is the MESSAGE and not the PERSON. I'll be voting for the MESSAGE in November.

  • Geraldo the anti sovereignty open borders spokes person, what a sell out.

  • I'm sure this whole Bob Barr thing is by design. Look at the media block out. I would be willing to bet they (Mainstream Media, Big Government Corporations, etc.) are trying to sway Paul supports towards Barr so Ron Paul won't be such a threat...who knows, but - Why is Ron Paul so popular on the internet? Because THEY don't have nearly the control over the internet as they do with TV...yet. TV = you watch what they put in front of you. Internet = look up what you want. Cancel Cable!

  • I highly doubt Mike Gravel will get the nomination over Bob Barr.

  • I wouldn't say that just yet. It's going to be a VERY tough race, and there's so much to attack Barr on. A Gravel/Root ticket may win the white house: a good mix of Libreralism (as in Liberal for Libertarians, which would be moderate for a Democrat), and Conservatism. We need a candidate with an impressive title (not author or bookie), which only leaves two guys: Barr, and Gravel. Then we need a man who's squeaky clean, that's Gravel. Barr has waaaay too much dirt.

  • Either way it seems to be a good nomination though...unlike the democrats and republicans!

  • There's only one Ron Paul... and Bob Barr ain't it.

  • Amen, but a lot of Paulites like Gravel. Maybe you should think about supporting Gravel?

  • Come on Bob make up your mind and RUN!

  • Barr's announcing his run on Monday

  • I voted for Ron Paul in Texas, if he does not run as third party i will vote for Barr.

  • Im gonna vote for this guy. The idea of voting for john McCain disgust me.

Republicans say -oh third partys take it away- take it away from what a big government republican. So what. Hillary or Hussein is worse sure. But we are never gonna get the GOP to stop marching to the tune of socialism and big-government, anti state power if we dont send a message.

  • Bob Barr worked for the CIA and was actively involved in The War on Drugs! Check out his background on wikipedia, it's all fact-checked! RON PAUL makes this slimey worm look like...a slimey worm!

  • Good point, blakmira. In the Georgia congressional election of 2002, it was a close race between Barr and his opponent (this was when Barr was a Republican). But it was the LIBERTARIAN PARTY who ran ads and took down Barr because of his support for the War on Drugs. If the Libertarian party worked hard to take Barr down, that shows he can't be much of a Libertarian.

  • If Bob Barr wins, he will be the 1st Black presidnet!

  • Barr is a fuckin' slimy politico douche, not even in the same league as Ron Paul.

  • Bob Barr has made all the right libertarian noises in the past two years. I say good! But does it make up for three decades of evil? I have no problem believing the sincerity of Mr. Barr. After all, insincerity on becoming libertarian does not really gain him anything. He could have stayed a Republican. But I do not think a recent convert should be at the top of the ticket without a whole lot of on your knees groveling for forgiveness. I have not seen it yet.

  • Libertarian? That's new, the last time I heard news about Barr, he was trying to ban Wiccan priests and priestesses from being military chaplains in the military - granted, this was back in 2001. But still, WTF? A Libertarian of any stripe would fund such a thing unconscionable.

  • he has changed a lot since then

  • he's changed a lot since then? Since when does an stiff politician like Barr become MORE liberal and LESS fascist? Did someone slip some acid in his drink and now he's anti-war on drugs? Not Buying It for a Minute.

  • I am a libertarian, and putting Wiccan chaplains in the military smacks of liberal political correctness bull. Just because there are 5 "wiccans" in the army doesn't mean they need their own chaplain when 80% are Christians. He shouldn't have to apologize for this.

  • Whoa - there are way more Wiccans than that. You'd be amazed, and it is a federally recognized religion. I'm not one myself, but freedom of religion is freedom of religion. Either they're all good or none of 'em are. Jews only account for .03% of the military, but there are plenty of Rabbinical chaplains, so I really don't see the harm in having a few Wiccan Priests. Furthermore, why put up an active, concerted effort to bar them if you're a Libertarian? It doesn't add up.

  • Dr. Paul has boxed himself in by his rigid adherence to the Republican party, whose established powers do not wish to embrace Dr. Paul's platform. The major problem is the two-headed monster dominating our system. Third, fourth, and fifth parties need to be in the mix, and Bob Barr offers a chance to break this open. I'm a Ron Paul supporter but he made a strategic error in locking himself within the republican party. Ron's not going to take McCain's position as party nominee.

  • That is it exactly. Many were looking to see what would happen with Ron Paul before they entered the Libertarian Presidential nomination process. Barr and Ruwart are two that fit that description. Ron Paul had nominated Ruwart for a Federal position and she was rejected. I think Dr. Paul has respect for both of these individuals for different reasons. And neither are duplicates of Ron Paul. Paul just wasn't ready to retire from congress and take the LP nomination.

  • Fuck Hiraldo.

  • he said he was the "new ron paul"?

    I must of missed that.

  • Flip-flopping is pandering for votes depending on which type of audience one is speaking to. Bob Barr has not flip-flopped. He has changed his position over the years as have many of us.

  • he's not the new Ron Paul. Not yet. I like Bob Barr, but I'm only going to support him/vote for him in the general election if Ron Paul is not on the ballot. I'd also feel better about him if he gets Dr. Paul's nomination.

  • I'm not scratching my head to this; I'm shaking my head wondering what Bob Barr would bring to this campaign.

  • I do not really like Bob Barr. Too much flip flopping on key issues in the Libertarian party. I would rather have a tested, true Libertarian running as a Republican(Ron Paul), than a typical Republican who claims to have reformed his ideals. He just does not sit well with me but what do I know.

  • Unfortunately I have a buddy who's a Barr supporter. I'm not with Barr, either, but I do agree that both the Republicans are still for the wealthy and powerful and the Democrats have fallen by the wayside and a third party is an option. If anything, Ron Paul should have ran as a Libertarian.

  • "Ron Paul should have ran as a Libertarian" -- if you think he was blacklisted by the media as a Republican, you would have never even heard of him running independent. Been there, done that, waste of time.

  • Senor Juan McCain has gotten less then 1/3 of the GOP primary vote. No more RINOs. Time for a true conservative,

    RP2008

  • It's wrong to say he shouldn't run, but he's no Ron Paul. Not even close. Flip Flopping on issues doesn't go over too well. Read his bio on Wikipedia.

I don't see Ron Paul endorsing him. After all he is a Republican and it would be a very bad move politically to endorse a Libertarian.

  • Ron Paul is good friends with Bob Barr. He's going to endorse him.

  • Google the "thenamegame"

  • No reason to scratch your head my friend! Bob would seek the Libertarian nomination for President, simply giving the American people more opportunity to restore our great country!

  • Not scratching my head friend.

Ron Paul is running as a Republican and 99.999% sure to lose.

Bob Barr intends to run as a Libertarian, which Ron Paul does not wish to do.

  • I love Ron Paul but I HATE Bob Barr for spearheading that ridiculous impeachment of Clinton. Love Clinton or hate him, that whole impeachment deal was a stupid fucking political waste of time.

  • Well said . . .

  • Check out the RonPauled videos. They are great. Thanks for showing us this clip.

  • Bob Barr is a friend of Ron Paul's, and has been endorsed by Ron Paul. I actually believe that if Bob Barr asked Ron Paul to be his VP, he would have a very good chance. As I've always said, it's not Ron Paul we love, it's his message. If someone else is delivering that message, we should get behind him!

  • Ron Paul wishes his friend Bob Barr his best, but there has been NO endorsement. That would be like spitting in the face of the Republican Party, whom Ron Paul is trying to change from within, whereas Bob Barr is presenting an alternative to limited government believing people disatisfied with the Republican Party.

  • I contributed to Ron Paul's campaign, but if Barr were to run on the LP ticket, I would certainly consider voting for him. I still need to look into him more. His conversion to the LP's philosophy has only happened within the last few years. Not that that makes it insincere, it's just that it might not yet be complete. RP, on the other hand, has been a libertarian for over 30 years.

Of course, this is all predicated on the assumption that RP will not get the GOP nomination.

  • On the plus side, Bob Barr has always been a Republican who has supported individual liberty. He also joined the ACLU and the Marijuana Project to prove that he has reveresed many of his stances that libertarians despise.

  • Well, it makes sense, Barr would be plan B (if he can get the LP nomination), in case Paul does not thet the GOP nomination. Barr cannot wait longer and if Ron Paul does get the GOP nomination, he- Barr - will surely fall in line and support. Notice that both their websites is by the same company and can see a similarity. Also, if Barr polls at 10% plus before the RNC, it will help Paul it putting pressure to change nomination.

  • Bob Barr's website was designed by the same person who designed Ron Paul's.

  • Who the hell is Bob Barr?

  • He is a former Congressman from Georgia who served from 1995-2003! He has been very critical of John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. He's been more critical of President Bush and the war in Iraq!

  • geraldo is such a mccaine suck up!.
