Hi there, you are so sweet a person. Are you still using m.n. on your hair? You and your sisters hair is so pretty and healthy. I love your channel....
I dunno if you'll read this, since this is a bit old, but about the hard part of your hair you mentioned, I've been spritzing my hair with a little water in a spritz bottle and then conditioning with extra virgin coconut oil (has to be extra virgin! and organic is better), and my hair is super soft! I can't stop touching it! >_< Maybe it may help? You are super cute by the way and your videos as always inspire me. :) Stay strong! <3 XOXOX
Have you considered pre-pooing your hair (giving your hair a moisturizing treatment before you shampoo) so that you can avoid the tangles. I've only known of relaxed hair that tangles that easily from women (friends & fam) who are wayy past BSL or don't use a good conditioning shampoo.
I'm lovin the videos, don't let the negativity bring u down, some of these women are always going to try to tell u what you should be doing with your own head.lol.
don't clarify so much if ur hair is permed and u just put up...ur doing more harm than good. scientific research shows that permed hair needs 3 times more moisture and protein than natural hair (which means more work than natural hair) and that is why ur hair responded so well to protein and moisture.
@dajewel1982 All hair is different though. Yes relaxers take out moisture but if the person getting the relaxer had oily or highly moisturized hair to begin with then they won't have to worry about moisturizing quite as much as someone with naturally brittle or dry hair getting a relaxer. Moisturizing ALWAYS depends on the person whether they r relaxed or natural...which does not necessarily mean that relaxers are more work or vice versa-in that department.
Hey lady ,its that thought that grass is always greener on the otherside but when you get to the other side its not as rosy as you think. When you are natural there will be problems.when you are relaxed there wll be problems ..i was going to say good hair is not he absecence of problems..but i guess that phrase is questionable and can only be applied to joy (joy is not the abscence of problems but making the most of what you have..something like that) .Ok im rambling hope what i made some sense
@iloveapplejuice Bsl means Bra Strap Length... not a stupid question i didn't know when i first joined youtube...I hope to reach that goal by October 2011
OMG love your channels...after watchin youtube for a few yrs now am jus about brave enough to face the camera and do some tutorials...i am tired seein ladies wit some messed up here..i have watched n learned along the way so i am not perfect, but wud like to show wat i have learnt along the way to get my hair the length it is now...peace
have you used milkshake products? what is your favorite deep con treatment? my hair is 4a, 4b and 3c, i have found that mixing conditioners and oils like coconut, flaxseed, and castor together, applying it like a relaxer to freshly washed hair and leaving it on overnight once a month really makes my new growth more manageable. i have also used the homemade caramel treatment in the past. good luck w/ bsl by the end of the year!
I was natural for 3yrs... Then April 2011 I decided to get a perm. Yes my hair was very long, but it was JUST STRAIGHT!!!!! so 09-03-2011 I shaved it LOL. Back to my BIG HAIR!!!! I'M SO LOVING IT;-) and my haircut is so funky.
Organic Root Stimulator also is really helpful in detangling my hair. It's got protein and it moisturizes. Use the ones in the paks, Not the bottle (diff. ingrediants). Leave it in w/o heat for 1 hour, and wash out.
Also try mane & tail detangler. IT WORKS. Its a bit drying but, it works. Cheers!
Hey I frequently put my hair in weaves with a bit of leave-out and I notice that the leave-out tends to break off a bit. Do you have any advice of retaining leave-out? And I love your videos, I have the same problems with my recently relaxed hair and your videos give me inspiration.
i understand, the tangled relaxed hair, mine used to tangle like no man's business. No time it got so bad it dreaded like locks and i had to cut it of.
I think we have the same EXACT hair! My crown is very tough, hard to keep moisturized, and fragile. The back of my hair is very fine, split end free, and the longest. But keep up the fight, we need you!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR CHANNEL. I just discovered you a few days ago and I can't get enough. I've been wearing braids for a few months (giving my hair a break in between) with the plan to grow it out. Now I feel like I have the tools to actually grow it, not just talk about it. I created a youtube account ONLY so that I may keep up with your channel. Keep Up the Great work, Hater's be damned.
Hey girlie! When am I going to see you again...he he!
Whatever you do, do NOT chop your hair off! My crown still acts up even as I am further in my transition (it's the area with the thinnest relaxed ends) but you just learn to manage it.
I suggect (humbly) trying out co-washing more. I know you wash in braids probably. Also a great slippy conditioner really makes a difference (VO5 moisture milks and Suave naturals work for me, Herbal essences HH also).
I am so glad you decided not to quit all together. I love your channel everything on here is useful. Please continue to show us the ropes... Can you also show us some weave installations?
To not get tangles: Co-wash your hair. Meaning, treat your hair with conditioner first then wash it. That should help so that you don't pull out/break off any hairs. CHEERS!
first.. OMG you are amazingly stunning in this video. your skin is flawless
second... antifungal cream on your crown or hydrocortizone on scalp. of crown. not for a growth experiment but cause you have eczema and your top breakage is likely from friction
third. Did i mention you are gorgeous fourth. Meh relaxed natural who cares. I am a growth nazi too and as much as i loved your natural hair and as bored as i am w/ ur updates w/ weaves, the idea of just you lopping it off made me cringe
I was having the same problem its the hair products that your using. Try using Ojon I promise you won't go wrong they are a little pricey but, its well worth it
I was having horrible horrible matting and tangles and everything! I upped my water based moisture and added a midweek cowash and my hair has turned around! I cannot believe what a big difference a couple small changes made.
Helloooooo! Try going silicone free! That was the best thing I did for my hair. My hair is able to accept moisure so much better as silione build up can prevent hair from doing this over time. My hair is so much easier to manage and its growing nicely.
thanks for sharing! i appreciate ur honesty towards ur feeling of ur hair. we pretty much all have our ups & downs with our hair (sometimes its more down than up, lol)...but just keep taking care of your hair and eventually the results will show and it will start to flourish.
the hair in my crown is very course too and I have a relaxer but I am stretching them for months at a time. I might go natural too. Anyways, I hope you reach your goal of bsl and lol at one strand will be hitting @ bsl xD
Sometimes Also Using Protein On Your Hair Can Cause Your Hair To Become Like Wire When The Water Touches Your Hair There Fore Causes Brakage And Damaged Hair So You Might Want To Ease Up On The Protein To Much Can Hurt Your Hair. God Bless You!! :)
Hi is this a wig you're wearing??? I ask because you say you wash your hair every week... Im on my natural hair journey and would like to find a great wig to give my hair a break... any advice is greatly apprciated
A Simple Gesture Put Conditioner On Your Hair First To Help Soften Your Hair Before washing Your Hair Then Add Just a Little Water Then More Conditioner Then Detangle Your Hair Then Wash Hair With A Smoothing Technique Like Without tangles Clarifying Your Hair A Lot can Cause A Lot Of Dryness To Your Hair Moisturize Moisturize Always Or Your Goal Will Not Be Accomplished Instead Your Hair Will Begin To Over Shed. You Are Beautiful Take Care Of Your Mane. Luv & Hugs!! God Bless You!! :)
my crown is like that, I think it's because I used to leave it out and exposed when I wore weaves/fringes (or bangs as I keep hearing it being referred to.)
LOL@ One strand BSL! Too funny. I just discovered shower attachments that filter/soften your water and Girrrrl, it's changed everything. I just did a vid on it, if you have time to check it out. Honestly like your hair, as soon as water hits it, it would seize up; especially after shampooing. I dreaded detangling because it took forever and it was sooo dry!! For me softened water has really made a difference. The initial investment is about £40, but it's been well worth it. :)
Lol, I definitely know what you mean about having different texture throughout your head. My crown is also my courses area as well with the back being the looser texture. An idea about the tangles try washing your hair in braids. My hair is a little past bra strap and it tangles something awful, so I section my hair into four section and do four plaits and wash and condition my hair that way. When its time to detangle since its already in sections detangling is alot easier. I hope this helps :)
o you still wash your hair in braids or twists? that might help. Traycee on youtube does that also the woman from growafrohairlongdot comsuggests it for relaxed women too.
I actually would really appreciate a wash-day-process video , because , ahh , my wash day , my hair just goes back to curly , even though i'm relaxed ! I don't know why , and i really don't want to blow dry it :(
yess i want to see when you wash your hair under the weave like how do you do it I would just take it out in 1 week all together because it gets so much build up yuck! HELP! lol
You should try washing your hair in braids. Check out mskibibi (Wash Hair in Braids video) to avoid tangled wet hair. And for softening the hair on your crown , you should check out Kimmaytube (Kimmaytube's Leave-In Conditioner Recipe) I am relaxed and get soft moisturized hair when I use it...just tweak it to suit your own hair...I just use less oil. All the best.
My hair is really coarse at the crown, but I think that's because the individual hairs are the thickest there. On the bright side, that bitchy section also grows faster than anywhere else on my head.
Have you tried ofuma (igbo for shea butter) from Nigeria? My aunt brought some back for me and this stuff is the best! It makes your hair soft and moisturized. Have one of your relatives bring some back for you. You can buy it in the village.
I think also, once you reach a stage with your hair you want to do something drastic (relax, go natural, loc, cut it off). Keep on keeping on with your regimen - can't wait to see your reveal in Dec!
Omg! You HAVE to let us know exactly what you do (process & products) ... Ive seen your old videos so know where you started from.. I'm beginning to believe I can do it too. Please thumb up so she can see this!!!
Hey iv'e been following along with your bsl goal. I kept my hair natural for two months in the summer and did not do anything to it, except put it up in a bun everyday and a wash once a week with a now-and-then hair mask. my hair was already bsl and when i straightened it out, it grew another 3-3.5 inches. I was seriously contemplating a relaxer, but my black friends who have gotten one said DON'T...there are many reasons. ......just a little suggestion :) you'll make it in December!!
I cut my hair last year because i was bored with growing it. I regret it so much! i have like a little afro going on right now because i'm not using any form of heat on it, not even blow drying. i'm getting my hair done tomorrow and i've only had it out one day. i know it wont be as long as before for at least 5 years hahaha
WASH DAY VID PLEASE and if anyone has solutions for the crown area of your head please do tell my crown is the roughest and shortest part of my hair and I want it to catch pf with the rest of my hair... HELP !
i've missed thhese haor vids! i deffo wanna see a 'wash day' hair vid <3
plus maybe an updated 'underneath weave care' for those of us who are wondering how on earth to incorporate protein treatments to hair undearneath. <3
girl you and i have the same issues. tangles love me but they make me miserable. i hate wash day now. I can detangle well one day and the next day it self mattes..sigh. And my crown area is also a prob area for me. It's coarser and the ends are frizzier there. Im wondering if I somehow caused damaged with the hooded dryer when I used to have it really hot. anyways i hope you reach your goal.
Thanks For speaking out !! Whatever your heart desire we are with u... I am now 12 weeks post and ejoying it thus far!! It's great to see you again :) Stay Encourage my Sister!!!
get a brazillian blow out it really works! makes the hair smoother and there will be less tangles and it loosens the curl. i did the one by organix which is the at home treatment and i cant express to you how much this helped me with controlling single strand knots, tangles, and dryness:)
oh wow. I bet this time round you will be more informed. as for tuts, moisture n seal tips - way to prevent breakage, protective styling options like weaves wigs, how to be serious about achieving length. breakage prevention.
I've found a good stylist, been going to her for almost 2 years. She relaxes my hair with design essentials sensitive scalp b/c i'm the queen of the tender heads lol, and I have NEVER burned, felt any pain, anything, and my relaxers always come out nice and STRAIGHT after a blowdry and flat iron (the only time those instruments ever touch my strands :). I stretch for 20 wks at a time, NO HEAT WATSOEVA (13-14 wks in summer months).
loool girl that's EXACTLY what i did, my hair grew past my bra, i felt like SHAVING it all, then texlaxed & got a good trim with bangs now, lol, we just grow with our hair, love ur vids & personnality always !
do u have a denman brush?....it works wonders for me because i too was having problems with my crown area but with the denman brush helps alot with tangles and whatnot
ive been checking youtube everyday for a new vid from you yaay lol. i LOVE your hair suits you is your weave sewn on or instant cause u mentioned that you've washed it & keep it in the bun?
I think it is a matter of being bored with your hair. I know that sometimes I am so bored with doing my hair, but I don't trust people with my hair and I don't have funds to pay the experts.
your hair has an attitude problem lol single strand knots when your natural, tangels when your relaxed whats a girl to do you need to disapline that mane lol
I felt exactly the same, I am relaxed atm- we just need patience I guess, I do hot oil rinses maybe to aid detangling prior to shampooing and only comb when wet
Love the bangs!

I actually would really appreciate a wash-day-process video , because , ahh , my wash day , my hair just goes back to curly , even though i'm relaxed ! I don't know why , and i really don't want to blow dry it :(
Mageeelovesfrank 6 months ago
If you get a trim, you'll get rid of 90% of the tangles...good luck....

I love watching your videos! Looking forward to the Dec reveal!!
marymj1986 6 months ago
You should try washing your hair in braids. Check out mskibibi (Wash Hair in Braids video) to avoid tangled wet hair. And for softening the hair on your crown , you should check out Kimmaytube (Kimmaytube's Leave-In Conditioner Recipe) I am relaxed and get soft moisturized hair when I use it...just tweak it to suit your own hair...I just use less oil. All the best.
cocoy373 6 months ago
My hair is really coarse at the crown, but I think that's because the individual hairs are the thickest there. On the bright side, that bitchy section also grows faster than anywhere else on my head.
GwendolynRaine 6 months ago
Have you tried ofuma (igbo for shea butter) from Nigeria? My aunt brought some back for me and this stuff is the best! It makes your hair soft and moisturized. Have one of your relatives bring some back for you. You can buy it in the village.
TufaThanNigerianHair 6 months ago
I think also, once you reach a stage with your hair you want to do something drastic (relax, go natural, loc, cut it off). Keep on keeping on with your regimen - can't wait to see your reveal in Dec!

blaquesunrise 6 months ago
Hey iv'e been following along with your bsl goal. I kept my hair natural for two months in the summer and did not do anything to it, except put it up in a bun everyday and a wash once a week with a now-and-then hair mask. my hair was already bsl and when i straightened it out, it grew another 3-3.5 inches. I was seriously contemplating a relaxer, but my black friends who have gotten one said DON'T...there are many reasons. ......just a little suggestion :) you'll make it in December!!

Hi
Thks as always for the super info.
How ever ! " I never worry about how someone else likes my hair.
The only one that matter is what I like or whether I want my hair to be straight or natural.
So! I except your decision on how you want your hair, weave straght or natural.
Youre, the best & agan thks for the info. : )

It helps to comb your hair before you wash it :)

StrawberryRipples 6 months ago
Do you take out your weave every week to wash your hair? That must be a lot of work, or is it a wig?

girl you and i have the same issues. tangles love me but they make me miserable. i hate wash day now. I can detangle well one day and the next day it self mattes..sigh. And my crown area is also a prob area for me. It's coarser and the ends are frizzier there. Im wondering if I somehow caused damaged with the hooded dryer when I used to have it really hot. anyways i hope you reach your goal.

get a brazillian blow out it really works! makes the hair smoother and there will be less tangles and it loosens the curl. i did the one by organix which is the at home treatment and i cant express to you how much this helped me with controlling single strand knots, tangles, and dryness:)
wendymillerful 6 months ago
oh wow. I bet this time round you will be more informed. as for tuts, moisture n seal tips - way to prevent breakage, protective styling options like weaves wigs, how to be serious about achieving length. breakage prevention.
good luck on your new journey -

I'm relaxed and plan on staying so.
Good luck Patricia!

I think it is a matter of being bored with your hair. I know that sometimes I am so bored with doing my hair, but I don't trust people with my hair and I don't have funds to pay the experts.
Love the channel!! Please do more tutorials.
anjuness 6 months ago
Try washing it in 4 braids. That helps prevent tangling. Also be careful when shampooing, not to cause tangles.
carolyn198205 6 months ago
your hair has an attitude problem lol single strand knots when your natural, tangels when your relaxed whats a girl to do you need to disapline that mane lol
sailorxxc 6 months ago
I felt exactly the same, I am relaxed atm- we just need patience I guess, I do hot oil rinses maybe to aid detangling prior to shampooing and only comb when wet
