Tom Clancy is a smug, arrogant tool. Every account I have read of people who have met him say the same thing - that he is extremely rude and conceited.
@llchambers100 Absolutely. I know people who have worked closely with him and think he's a real arrogant, socially inept dick. And these are people who share his political views as well, so it's not a political thing.
Clancy is my favorite author of all time. As a former Marine and geography wiz,his books are extremely accurate portrayals of things that really could happen at any given point. They are very well written,and he is one of the best decipherers of current politics and world situation. I think he should be president.
His book Every Man A Tiger is the story of Chuck Horner's career in the air force leading up to the Gulf War and of the war itself. It's absolutley awsome.

Finished coupla weeks ago...and then,listened live to the takedown 2 nights ago. Chills!!! As an artist mother of five and Gramma of eleven, I'm fixiated on the intellectual prowess of your characters in the book...and the reality on tv the other night. Thanks!
@retepvosnul 1. a Harrison Ford movie is not a B-movie. 2.) big words do not make you sound smarter than the rest of us 3.) Clancy was out researching and writing before most writers today were at universities

Calling this man a "writer" is stretching the definition of "writer" far past breaking-point.
It is truly a questionable novelty when the B-movie adaptations of, what should pass for, a novel are far superior then the book itself.
