  • stop drop and roll

  • I was listening to some music, and there was a really tense bit while the toad and spider were climing, and it dropped just as the toad let go. It was awesome.

  • Theres another toad like this one that also falls to escape from predators but instead of bouncing it grabs onto things like a monkey

  • that tarantula got owned!

  • i wish i could do that shit

  • That spider is so creepy- when one legs comes over the edge - TERRIFYING!!

  • LOL at the Giant tortoise in the background at 1.38

  • how strange their is a arachnid which dose a similar thing but it rolls instead of bouncing. can anyone tell me the name of it and it lives in the sarah dessert. also its a spider.

  • Tarantula fail

    Gangsta toad win !!!

  • LoL i remember this one time i was stressed out at some game so i switched it of and then it was this at 1:23 and me and my coz just started crying with laughter it was just great timeing.

I love this show its great :)

  • This is the one single thing that the BBC is good at.

Oh and Top Gear of course.

  • i actually jumped back when the toad jumped lol SCARY

  • i agree so good to watch sumthink with quality on tv nowadays, nothing can touch the thought n effort went into this series :)

  • I love the series. I admire David Attenborough and I love BBC documentaries.

At first I thought these were all literally staged (created by themselves), but the 10 minute bit at the end of each episode shows us it's not. It makes me appreciate the effort gone into it. Situations like these take weeks to catch on camera.

  • how the hell did they make them face each other, sure they have high tech equipements but some situations are like WOW...almost like a scripted movie bet if i go to broadway right now i can watch mr toad on stage

  • @NoMatch2Me Trust me the BBC crew would have sat on location for weeks just to get that piece of footage.I have this series on Blu ray and at the end of each episode their is an on location segment and they show you just how much effort it takes just to get some of this amazing footage.

  • poor guy climed all that ohh nice fallling i with i was in 3D

  • like a hollywood film!

  • BBC does the best nature documentaries, and Sir David Attenborough is a legend.

  • Does anyone else love it when a reptile/amphibian overcomes a large insect? I do.

  • this is from the program LIFE

  • WOW

  • Just another marvel of evolution.

  • Wow the detail is amazing :)

  • The first moment you see the spider moving is like something out of a horror film. Fantastic.

  • They should make Sir David a Lord like his brother Richard. His work over the past 50+ years has enriched countless millions of people lives around the world and an additional honour is needed to show our nations gratitude. He's 83 and won't be doing this forever and it will be a big loss when he retires.

  • I totally agree - but there isn't a high enough honour that would do his passion and conservation awareness achievements justice

  • @bobbyladd *dies

  • The way they manage to capture such moments will never cease to amaze me.

  • Why do I have visions of them setting up the cameras and then chucking toads down a mountain for two days?

Did you see the look in the toad's eyes ate the end? That is the look of a toad saying "Please, no more."

  • Ate the end? Dear god.

  • Save the BBC!

Don't let the politicians (in the pockets of Curly and Murdoch) try to kill it.

  • Brilliant cinematography. They should show these in my local Odeon.

  • I was thinking the same thing. Really well done.

  • The first shot of the spider.... perfect.

    What a sneaky little chap!

  • Poor little bugger! After all that effort to climb to the top too!

    Amazing filming.

  • I know, now he has to climb up a different mountain!

  • A+ class filming.

  • david attenborough stuff never ceases to amaze. i love it all

  • fantastic cinematography

  • Amazing shots!

  • i love the totally fake noises they threw in on each impact.

  • how do they fucking catch that?!?

  • Poor toad climbed all the way up that hill...now it has to do it again! Mind you it knows the tarantula is up there, so...

  • the cinematography is amazing

  • Agreed! Beautifully filmed.

  • Great series so far . Life is tough no doubt about it but wonderful too . I think when they show the making of each episode at the end of the programme is a high light .

  • awesome!!...is all stuff real?? or some computer graphics was use for this??

  • The suicide toad

  • this is the most beautiful thing i've seen in so long

  • Wow, this clip reminds me of that scene in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, except in this case Shelob is at the top of Mount Doom when Frodo ascends.

  • how could they film this in such awesome scenes?

it looks like they staged it really!

i mean how could they know where and when the spider and the frog meet and then setting up the cameras in the right way to get these scenes??

  • Probably just took a lot of practice.

  • I was wondering the same exact thing

  • They have camera men who sit and wait and wait and wait for something to happen.

In one of the BBC documentaries a guy waited submerged in snow in the same spot for 3 days straight.

  • I know, Its crazy.

    Looks amazing.

  • Fantastic camera angles.

  • How do they film this stuff?

  • with cameras what do you think frog eater

  • Wow, I had no idea they used cameras, you fucking dipstick.

I was asking about camera styles, where they film it, and all that. Obviously there are idiots like you who don't understand.

  • "Filming the bouncing toad was very challenging; the remote mountain plateau is one mile high and 26 square miles in area, whilst the toad is one inch long and very elusive. The tarantulas which prey on them are also very hard to find. To give the crew the best chance of finding and filming them, the expert on these creatures came on the shoot. He searched for a week before the crew's arrival to find both species and a location where they could come together and where the toad would demonstrate

  • its bouncing-ball method of escape. This allowed the cameraman to set up his slow-motion camera in the right place. The scientist was able to ensure that the toad was never in danger of being harmed by the tarantula as a result of us filming them. The technique was a total success - the toad tucked its legs in, rolled and bounced, allowing the crew to film its method of escape in slow-motion detail."

  • He almost "croaked" it.

  • cant stop the new world order

  • Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only -.-

  • awesome!!! i like the quick reaction from the toad

  • Yes!! This is amazing!!!

  • I bet my ass, the toad is a adrenaline junky and did this on purpose!

  • lol climbed all that only to bounce all the way back down again

  • What if it lands on it's eye!

  • lol

  • l33t toad

  • That is some intensely insane footage!!! Holy jesussss! Just wow!

  • Damn, that was awesome

  • I want one.

  • Wow great film making. It was all an excuse for an epic cannon ball drop into the water!

  • Awesome. The photography was incredible

  • LOL, they had to toss the toad in the puddle by hand to get the last shot, still amazing footage.

  • they land in puddles quite often when they fall like this, also sometimes in cracks.

What they did not mention is that many f them drown when they do land in the water because they are horrible swimmers. BBC has the full article on their site.

  • that is bad ASS

  • Amazing!

  • awesome

  • Kudos to the videographers, I've never seen such amazing videography !

  • Or because he did the work climbing up there, see's the spider, falls down and thinks "Fuck, now I have to climb all the way up again."

  • Poor guy, looks so sad when he crawls out of the water. He probably had a family up there.

  • sweeet

  • awesome bouncing toad xD

  • The filming is phenomenal, I love being able to fully appreciate it in HD. Can't wait for next Monday's episode!

  • great

  • i love the music and a great series.

  • Congrats. Your Blue Peter badge is in the post.

  • "NAH I'M FIST!!!" lol
