I was listening to some music, and there was a really tense bit while the toad and spider were climing, and it dropped just as the toad let go. It was awesome.
how strange their is a arachnid which dose a similar thing but it rolls instead of bouncing. can anyone tell me the name of it and it lives in the sarah dessert. also its a spider.
LoL i remember this one time i was stressed out at some game so i switched it of and then it was this at 1:23 and me and my coz just started crying with laughter it was just great timeing.
I love the series. I admire David Attenborough and I love BBC documentaries.
At first I thought these were all literally staged (created by themselves), but the 10 minute bit at the end of each episode shows us it's not. It makes me appreciate the effort gone into it. Situations like these take weeks to catch on camera.
how the hell did they make them face each other, sure they have high tech equipements but some situations are like WOW...almost like a scripted movie bet if i go to broadway right now i can watch mr toad on stage
@NoMatch2Me Trust me the BBC crew would have sat on location for weeks just to get that piece of footage.I have this series on Blu ray and at the end of each episode their is an on location segment and they show you just how much effort it takes just to get some of this amazing footage.
They should make Sir David a Lord like his brother Richard. His work over the past 50+ years has enriched countless millions of people lives around the world and an additional honour is needed to show our nations gratitude. He's 83 and won't be doing this forever and it will be a big loss when he retires.
Great series so far . Life is tough no doubt about it but wonderful too . I think when they show the making of each episode at the end of the programme is a high light .
Wow, this clip reminds me of that scene in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, except in this case Shelob is at the top of Mount Doom when Frodo ascends.
"Filming the bouncing toad was very challenging; the remote mountain plateau is one mile high and 26 square miles in area, whilst the toad is one inch long and very elusive. The tarantulas which prey on them are also very hard to find. To give the crew the best chance of finding and filming them, the expert on these creatures came on the shoot. He searched for a week before the crew's arrival to find both species and a location where they could come together and where the toad would demonstrate
its bouncing-ball method of escape. This allowed the cameraman to set up his slow-motion camera in the right place. The scientist was able to ensure that the toad was never in danger of being harmed by the tarantula as a result of us filming them. The technique was a total success - the toad tucked its legs in, rolled and bounced, allowing the crew to film its method of escape in slow-motion detail."
they land in puddles quite often when they fall like this, also sometimes in cracks.
What they did not mention is that many f them drown when they do land in the water because they are horrible swimmers. BBC has the full article on their site.

Why do I have visions of them setting up the cameras and then chucking toads down a mountain for two days?
Did you see the look in the toad's eyes ate the end? That is the look of a toad saying "Please, no more."

how could they film this in such awesome scenes?
it looks like they staged it really!
i mean how could they know where and when the spider and the frog meet and then setting up the cameras in the right way to get these scenes??

They have camera men who sit and wait and wait and wait for something to happen.
In one of the BBC documentaries a guy waited submerged in snow in the same spot for 3 days straight.
