You have to realize this isn't just a matter of no production. This is not the guitar he usually uses, he is not in a building made for great sound quality, the sound equipment is not super high quality, and most importantly, it was recorded on a digital camera.

Having seen him live myself more than once, I can tell you in person he sounds nearly as good as his album, sometimes better, because he really gets into his musical acts.
