If you cant save the Proof.XML file and you are on Windows Vista here is what you do Go to notepad, Right click it and click Run as Administator then copy the Proof.XML text into the notepad you ran as administator and save it over the old Proof.XML

I had the save problem. What you do is you save the notepad on to the desktop and then move the previous Proof.xml on to the desktop as well.

Then move the notepad into the folder and it will work.

It seems that Microsoft has fixed this little hack. If you did what was shown in this video, you wind up with a locked Microsoft Word where you can't edit any files. It asks that you activate your copy online or over the phone. If you try to do it only, it says your product serial is invalid (probably due to deleting those registry files) and that you'll have to reinstall.

Basically your only option now is to try to find a working serial online or download a cracked torrent.
