  • GETTTT MEEEEE OUTTAAAA HEREEEEEE

  • the glockenspiel is not as loud as other live version of no surprises they performed, especially the melodic part. sighh..its my fav part :(

my fav band on earth :D

  • brilliant

  • Ed and thoms vocal is amazing

  • No mess up...he switched the words on purpose...

  • Radiohead messed up big time at this show but the crowd are good

  • @villiparis I wouldn't even call that a mess up he recovered perfectly. this to me is the best live performance of this song ive seen!

  • it's very funny how that guy is very concentrate on that instrument.

    really cool!

  • I love radiohead and Johnny Greenwood, He is the best! What a musician!

  • No H I think.

  • Only problem with this song is its too short.

  • my birthday !! 19/8

  • after listning to this band any other band just sounds half ass

  • so true

  • A lifeguard, indeed

  • No surpises was not in the live that I have been to. This makes me want to see Radiohead's live again in the future, because of this song.

I really really like Radiohead. After seeing them live, I like them more. No one can ever compare to them, at least on my mind, they were not comparable to any bands in the world.

  • your not from around here are you.

  • as you said. but how did you know?

  • im from space

  • Kid A sounds a lot like Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures."

  • @BahmanG not really...

  • ive noticed in every performance of theirs Ive watched, that Colin is always standing with his right side facing the audience

  • hehe, this is the normal position of Colin.

  • Why do people clap at the stupidest times/songs?

  • le letra es hermosa, me gusta el sonido, el mejor grupo Radiohead!!

THE LYRICS ARE MARVELOUS, I LIKE THE SOUND, RADIOHEAD THE BEST BAND!!

  • Did he say "I'll take a blank check" at 1:18?

  • that's what i thought! as soon as i heard that i scrooled down to check the comments haha

  • yeh whats up with that? on the album its 'I'll take a quiet life'

  • I think it's because Thom doesn't even listen to the early stuff anymore. But whatever, sometimes what he replaces the lyrics with can be pretty funny.

  • he made a mistake., he was going to say ill take landfill' xD

  • What Thom says, goes.

Fact is, he could habe said ´You´re all idiots for listening to this´ and we´d all still suck his dick for it.

Fucking legend. Sexiest man in a while according to a lot of women too. Unfortunately my lazy eye is my third.

  • I think it was, "I'll take a blank check book" instead.

  • Ge0rge, youd probably hav a heart attack on stage with Radiohead;

  • they need to turn ed's guitar up

  • In Red Jacket, Its Jonny Greenwood????????????

  • I don´t like the lightning ^^ it looks so Neil Young or something :P if anyone gets what i mean. The lights and stuff since 2007 is awesome though

  • so freakin good you freakin dudes!

  • Anyone think johnny looks like Ian Curtis right at the start?

  • haha i can see what you mean

  • i bet anything that you would be sweating blood, trying to play those notes in front of thousands of people, on one of the loudest and most recignizable sounds in the song.

    ...........retard

  • sorry prada you got me wrong there. I was being jokingly sarcastic. I actually do love radiohead and would never even dream of being able to play such a beautiful song to the masses

  • you were ripped by one of your own, thats funny lol. Radiohead is the sickest group ever

  • 0:52-0:56 it looks like hes playin the snare on his glockenspeil joke lol

  • yeah the l'resevoir version is so love.

  • The set/lighting design is beautiful!

  • excelente cancion le doy un 11

  • daaaaammmmmmmm i fucken love this song!!!!!!

  • Johnny on a xylophone (sp?) is just lol :D He does a very good job tho.

  • it´s a glockenspiel dude

  • which is german for xylo(foon/phone). Google it if u will.

  • sorry but glockenspiel is another instrument .. Made of metal , Xylophon made of some kind of wood ( and sound more gypsÿ^^ )

  • sorry but glockenspiel is another instrument .. Made of metal , Xylophon made of some kind of wood ( and sound more gypsÿ^^ ) and glocken is german for Clock

  • this song is o.o

  • une des meilleur chansons que j'ai écouter meme si radiohead n'est trop mon genre :p

  • jonny greenwood makes glockenspeil cool.

  • jonny greenwood makes EVERYTHING cool

  • Totally.

  • Ed has a beautiful too.

  • beautiful song !

    radiohead c'est l'émotion pure !!

  • Ed did such a beautiful job on backing vocals.

  • ho, he switched up the lyrics here. happens sometimes

    still, a great song XD

  • This is sooooooo beautiful. This sort of sound should only be made in tiny little recording studios. They're in a fucking field with about 100,000 people!!!!1 Awesome!!!! I love Jonny!!!!!!

  • I want to see them live so much....

  • cheeztube...funny i just said the same thing in another post! one of the most original bands ever!!!

  • Amazing, but my favorite performance of this song is in Le reservoir it's freakin perfect.

    check that out.

  • This is a very nice and beautiful song

  • such a good therapy to heal my sadness..huhu its so weird...

  • A heart thats, full up like a landfil

A job that slowly kills you, bruises that won't heal

You look so tired and unhappy, bring down the government, they dont, they dont speak for us

Ill take a (blank cheque / check?) and a handshake of carbon monoxide

with no alarms and no surprises x3

silence x2 this is my final fit, my final, bellyache with

chorus such a pretty house and such a pretty garden

  • He changed the lyrics when he said I'll take a blank cheque, in the recorded version he says I'll take a quiet life

  • Yeah, the first time i've ever heard him switch up the lyrics in this performance

  • i like jonny's hair

  • i can make out "no surprises" but whats the rest

  • What were those lyrics again?

  • Put some heart into it for christ sake!

  • No. That would ruin the song. No surprises remember? The whole point is that its monotonous and looping. This is a very depressing song, and is sung accordingly

  • Glockenspiel rocks! :-)

  • buiena musica la mejor de radiohead..el sonido del pieano es nice

  • se escucha excelente pero no es piano man, es marimba. estos tipos son unos musicos fuera de serie

  • It's got such a chilling sound to it, the glockenspiel is really good.

  • love the lights

  • Bring down the government.

    They don't speak for us.

    Beautiful song.

  • It's about living in the suburbs. Achieving everything a middle class family should achieve. A nice house. A couple kids. A reliable car. But does that really make you happy? Being trapped into a routine? Driving your kids to soccer practice? A life with no suprises? It's suburbia lifestyle. Something we never want to be when we are younger.

  • but we usually end up being like this when we're older...

  • @InfidelCastrophobic-I'm pretty sure that would be more of a subtext to the main character killing himself

  • @InfidelCastrophobic i think also no alarms and no surprises can also mean after you have killed yourself you don't want people to be alarmed or surprised when they find you dead, thats not what you want after you've gone. If you choose not to be here it should be your choice, and that should mean that people should not be so alarmed when they find you'd taking time-out.

  • @InfidelCastrophobic

Yes, its exactly like that! Now, if only if you can read the title of the song, man! Like come on, if you don't know how to spell it, especially when your word is underlined in red, just look at the title. No SuRprises. :P

  • it's about suicide

  • it definatley is

  • Ed has a nice voice, he should do something solo

  • That's exactly the way talent disappears. It would be the worst thing.

Many examples exist to prove what I'm saying.

  • Yep, solo, but still as part of Radiohead. I think that is what Screamingmeemee is pertaining to. :)

  • what's this song about?

  • suicide, if I remember well.

  • makes sense...just wasn't sure if I was getting the right idea from the song...

  • Its not, its about a modern life, that's full of no substance, pollution and noise and wanting a 'quiet life' away from it all. 'Let me outta here' points to a desire to escape.

  • I'll answer myself : this is not about suicide, Thom denied this in an itw.

  • But where the hell is this interview I'm looking for this interview since .... ok one week BUT STILL hehe I wonder what's this song about then

  • french radiohead site, talked about u want the link of the page ?

  • i think its about the mundane life that society sets out for people.

  • Ditto.

  • i think it's about somebody not wantin' to take any more suffering, from relationships, or anything, like tired of not succeding or of the cruelty of the world and stuff. that's just an opinion. it's cool to have so many interpretations, huh?

  • jajaja estos cabrones si que sufren!!!

    gran cancion

  • Excellent live show! Love this song.

  • let me out

  • i agree with sphho. What does thom say at around 1:17 as oppose to "the quiet life" on the studio recording?

  • a blank check

  • Ed O' Brian

  • thanks dude

  • AKA not really a fan

    but its Ed O'Brien...

  • gracias

  • oh man....oh man....1 joint down...download video...listen to song go mad.....close your eyes and listen to song again . go insane

  • Pink Floyd - the dark side of the moon

    Radiohead - ok computer

Jimi hendrix - are you experienced

but this is only my personal opinion depending on the kind of music i like to listen..

  • i know, it's cuz radiohead are genius :)

  • OK Computer is one of the three best albums ever..

  • wots the other 2 ??

  • we never got this at Staffordshire, always wanted to hear it live.

  • They played some of the new material at this gig too. As well as stuff like Wolf at the Door, Yorke gave that song his all, as well as the Kid A stuff. It was a good gig. Opened with Airbag and ended with Creep. The gig was quite retrospective, but with a taste of whats to come.

  • Johnny got a haircut

  • to be fair i don't think the band were that up for this gig, they d been out the game for a long time and didn't really fancy just singing all the oldies just to let people know they weren't dead if u look at there more recent gigs with all the new material that enthusiasm is back just look at 15 step lol

  • they're SO GOOD live!! great band...

  • i remember that aaahshake handshake mistake. great night - my first radiohead gig. almost got into a fight though. i was right at the front. only had to get there five hours early : )

  • radiohead es lo mejor q hay

  • yer

  • the xylophone makes this song ten times better, i swear

  • It's actually a glockenspiel but you're right.

  • this song is ten years old dumbass. unless you are joking, then i'm sorry.

  • bahahahahahhahaha

  • thom yorke often sings the "big hits" badly on purpose (so i've heard)

  • so tired & unhappy

  • i agree with indiebot, this is quite poorly sang, compared to glast 2003..

  • i cant remember them doing this one, which is pissing me off

  • Thom sounds so bored and tired. Not one of the best versions.

  • I agree.

  • agreed. it's ok but not great.

  • that's part of the song! The boredem in his voice makes it amazing!

  • We love you THOM!! you're the best!

  • amen.

  • I was there and it was amazing

  • i think im in love with ed!

  • i think the camera person is too

  • hehe, he forgot the words
