we r readin this bk at school ATM in english and its really sad i cried twice. and we havent finished the book yet. i cried when her family forgot her when she got lost after school. and when the boys made her drink their pee.
i absolutely loved this book! i just feel bad because her entire family (except Ye-Ye, aunt baba and Nai-Nai, and some cases with third brother) were mean to her.
Just got done reading this. Good book. Some aspects of her childhood reminds me of mine. I would do extremely well in school and come home to little recognition and hell.
Niang was so cruel! I really wonder what made her the way she was. Adeline's father did not even seem to care about the treatment of his first children. How sad.
Exactly! I was rereading the book a few days ago and I could not believe how the dad (and Niang) treated Adeline after winning so many awards and accomplishments at school. ANY parent would be proud of their child.
@Chichiri520 gosh but as far as im concerned i read the last part of the book and her dad was proud of her
in playwright competition but he refused her to be a writer and take medical exam instead, man how can a parent do that I hope her dad and her step-mom would burn in hell for what they had treated for her
i realy love this book and i would like 2 knw if there is a movie out or an upcoming movie that is like or is realating to his book plz tell me if knw n e thing
This book is soo sad, i had no idea so many people had read it!!
Its so sad when she is on the airoplane and her dad asks her when her birthday is and when she is in the place all alone, i feel so sorry for her, but i kinda look up to her too ^-^
lol hopefully this will help me on the test that i'm gunna have in my english class on the book, ha ha havn't read any of the book. oh well thx for posting this though, it's the closest thing to a chapter summery that i could find. ha thx again
I read this book and I was just SHOCKED at the level of negelect Adeline suffered as a child. I sometimes wonder how on earth someone can look at their own child and shun it like her father did.
@bjnboy But despite the lack of love she had, she persevered in life to be who she is today. Her story is something for other Cinderellas out there to understand they are not alone
really? my school book list for form 3 says we have to read this book!! so i decided to look for it. it looks so beautiful...can u tell me what it is about plz?
Well I would hate to give away any details, but it is about a young girl and how she is treated by her family . She goes through alot with her wicked step-mother . it's a great read though and I hope youlike it!
i have read the first one i have borrowed out the 2nd book ur video was good but could not read all of it in ur vd cuz of the colour of writing it went to fast but bery good5/5
lol i have summer reading but i sugest u buy the book cause i looked everywere and they didnt have it..so now im reading it from the book!! im almost done...its really good!
I thought this was a awesome video! I really love Chinese Cinderella, and am planning on buying Falling Leaves. Niang makes a three headed monster plus Medusa plus all the evil creatures in story books look like sweet puppy dogs. And worse still, she's a real person! I really dislike her and her mistreatment of Adeline. No wonder her own daugher (Susan, Adeline's Little Sister) walked out on her!
In fact Niang is not even a good looking woman, she's ugly both inside and outside. She spoiled her 'own' kids and treated the others very badly, what a disgusting bitch...she wasn't a human after all
Adeline Yen Mah is an amazing author, I recently have finished Falling leaves, and I've already read Chinese Cinderella. Both amazing books to read!!! And also there both very sad....
Wow, the stuff that Adeline had to go through at such a young age is crazy.

Definately. The movie "Precious" is an example of that.

This book is a true emotional masterpiece, and dedicated to all children who are abused and neglected by their own families.
