  • 1 hour to shower, WTF who takes that long?

  • "to high quality white towels"

    lol.

  • CLAUSTROPHOBIA

  • fucking cyberpunk boyo.

  • This is one interesting Hotel. As thou it seems bland it boring it must be extremely fun. Attending the same area to shower and gather your things makes it seems so sci-fi like that it's just so cool. I'd love to sleep in one of those pods too. Great hotel and great video, just wish they showed the pod more and what it's like.

  • Crazy cool.

  • I'd love to try this.

  • DEUS EX :D

  • the capsules always make me think of flying in the Fifth Element

  • Success? How about some fucking numbers?

If capsules are as expensive as luxury hotels, they will fail. If they are dirt cheap, there'll always be people. So the real question is: how much is the business saving through this minimalist design and compactness?

  • They can't make them in New York because Americans wouldn't be able to fit in the capsules.

  • as a foreigner living in Japan, i always use those capsule hotels, they the cheapest beside Internet cafe. in Japan you can pay and sleep in Internet cafe too. my choices are always capsule hotels or Internet cafe, cause they are both cheapest way in Japan to sleep at night while traveling.

the services and accommodations are very nice and best. while TV,shower, dining, toilet all of them are in lobby of the hotel. being honest i love how Japanese think of solving such problems.

  • This would work in a big city like london. But it would b more of a tourist attraction than an actually place for people to sleep and such.

  • No way, no american can fit in those capsules.

  • Put this in every airport in the world. Charge under $20 given the area provided. Also, make the sleeping "tubes" 2.3 meters long; not all of us are Japanese size or height. ^_^

  • japanese fava,hotel XD

  • Capsule corp?

    Dragon ball much...?

  • who the hell takes an hour to shower?!

  • @AtomicNerd001 people.

  • Are you allowed to cover up the inside of the door so no one can see you?

  • hey guys, how can i download this video ?

    thanks

  • @losingID Use DownloadHelper, it's what I do. As far as I know it only works in Firefox, though.

  • i dig it and i'm american

  • I can see myself using this during my trips to London... Very minimal.

  • That looks fantastic... Can you organise long stays? I would love to feel like I live in DX3 or Neuromancer... even if its just for a month.

  • @daymyth you cab probably ask if you can probably yes if you keep it clean

  • no tv?

  • @Krisnadhuaja read their concept idea...

  • I thought it would be shit, but when I saw that many showers. So no problem or waiting when you have to take a shower XD

  • in my Army was much better then here

  • FUCK THIS. those sick bastards, is it their idea of a right future? they should die then

  • @TheJackpotMaster what the hell are you talking about?

  • canada?!?! why u no have capsule hotels?!?!

  • ITS A HIGH SCALE BATH HOUSE PEOPLE!!!!

  • I like sleeping for at least 10 hours a day

  • I wouldn't even want my dead body in such a hotel!

  • God. How humiliating. So for how many hours do you have to ferry royal jelly on your thorax to the queen?

  • portal

this wold make me worry i might wake up to glados's voice

  • Japan is SO 5th Element! <3

  • export it fast!

  • brilliant idea for Airport transit because lets face it people, timetables are generally shot to hell everywhere for some reason. Backpacker accommodation may have a fit but whether 9 hours would work for them? maybe a time variation dependant on type of function, ie aiprort = 9 hours, backpackers 24 hours.

Liek the clean lines and minimal clutter plus having pictures drawn for you may well be perfect for my Aussie mates...lol

  • I wish this was a dildo...

  • When I first saw the picture of that hall I first thought it was Minecraft :))

  • International traveler over night, back packer, business bare bones....hell yes. As long as the price fits the service. CHEAP AS POSSIBLE.

  • AMericans are loud YEAH CLEATUS LETS EAT SOME MORE PAINT CHIPS !!

like why if there so fat they fall threw the top on and onto some dude huh ?

  • Can I shower again in the morning? Bedhead is a bitch for me :/

Or I could just choose to shower in the morning if they would let me. Still, looks interesting.

  • @AlabamaIceman i think showering first is meant for keeping the rest of the hotel clean. and its laid out in the format where you don't need to think, so i doubt there's much of a choice.

  • its like avatar with the sleeping in the capsule

  • The Aperture Science hotel branch.

  • @TheBebop51 holy shit you're right! i wondered what it reminded me of, and yes you're bang on - its Aperture Science

  • So, they have people pay them for a prison experience. Those Japanese are velly velly smart..

  • Comment removed

  • @streetracer14785

"Those Japanese are velly velly smart.."

I can see that you can write like Elmer Fudd would speak.

Japanese tend to have problems pronouncing words with the letter L, not the letter R.

Example: "La" may be pronounced as "Ra."

While you've made a good point, your joke at the end doesn't work.

  • What if I want to sleep 7.5 hours and shower for .45 hours? Where is the fucking democracy in that country?

  • Why is there no assembly belt?

  • They got the idea from the fifth element, clever girl

  • I want to go to there

  • no internet

    no tv

    no alcohol

    no hookers

and sleep in a coffin wtf is this shit

  • i'd live in one if it were cheap

  • yeah, I'm assuming this would be pretty cheap. All I need is a bed and shower. If I want to watch tv or something I can take my laptop to a coffee shop.

  • what if you want to stay for 10 hours?

  • There should be one in every major airport in the world. When you have 10-12 hours between flights it would be ideal.

    Love the design as well!

  • @InuvikPhil you sir, are a fucking genius

  • @InuvikPhil I cannot agree more, this needs to happen!

  • I know that it would probably be cheap and easy....but I AM NOT A ROBOT!

  • lol... american capsules need to be 4 times the size of japanese ones

  • How much was it to stay the night?

  • @majined Used to be $30 now it is $63 including breakfast.

  • Sounds great, except for the part about gender segregation.

  • those sleep pods are boss. reminds me of the plane pods in the 5th element

  • I can hear grandfathers nationwide in America: "Durn crazy japs"

  • wait i think you need 8 hours to sleep

  • @almcken

    not in Japan!

  • Huh. I'd try it just for the novelty, and if its in or near a major airport, then it would be perfect.

  • WELCOME TO APERTURE LABORATORIES: TOKYO!

  • Japan ideas for business and technology are amazing, their advertising...not so much.

  • I wouldn't mind this at all, to be quite honest. Especially if this was in an airport or used for business travel. Sure, if you have a family this may not work out so well, but if you're traveling alone and need a quick rest, this is the ideal place to stay. If you're looking for hospitality and service, go ahead and find a Holiday Inn. I find these Capsule Hotels to be far more clean and streamlined than anything else, I wouldn't mind seeing them in the States.

  • @TATsNTFUNNY a quarter pounder with a super sized meal? $3.99

  • @xxxwarlordxxx Damnn. Now I am hungry again.

  • @TATsNTFUNNY I'd have to dis-agree, as an American I see plenty of skinny people every day. Not every one of us is fat.

  • @NatePwnsYou ah, but have you seen how short japanese people are?

  • @NatePwnsYou Height not width issues ha.

  • Cubic Corp totally got this idea from The Fifth Element

  • i stayed in capsule hotel few times it's cheap and gets you through the night. i used it when i was visiting friends and decided to stay for a day longer pretty crafty and neat hotel idea i think. thins new hotel is so much nicer look to it i don't mind to stay in 9h

    .

  • 1 hour shower? WTF?

  • @SandwhichDepartment 1 hour to properly get yourself clean, maybe 30 minute for a shower, 30 for getting ready for the day afterwards. :P

  • Hmmm holiday inn for £30 or a fucking tube for £30....

  • It's so dehumanized, i don't like it :s

  • I don't think I'd enjoy this one bit, it seems like a 'get in, do your stuff, and get the fuck out' type experience, which I hate. I want hospitality when I am traveling, that's just me though.

  • So this is.....just a cheap motel but I get a tube instead of a sperm covered room?

  • @o8strider8o How bout a sperm covered tube

  • Love this idea! minimalist approach all the way :)

  • Best part about it. No noisy kids.

  • I think it would work in other cities with the same focus on design and art as Kyoto. NY or London for sure, but could easily see these in Europe or places like Vancouver or Seattle, or alongside boutique hotels, in airports or train stations, etc.

  • Id rather stay in an American motel for 30 bucks a night, Half the price with 4 times the ammount of space, And not to mention, I can stay for 24 hrs....

  • Looks robotic and clinical.

Not sure why anyone would feel comfortable in something so fabricated and plastic. Needs more bamboo and plants.

This is when something is too concept and art school. Especially when it's $64 a night.

  • Looks robotic and clinical.

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY

  • It looks like a nice quiet place to stay. I would love to go.

  • There would be a lot less homeless in America if we had some of these dedicated to housing them. "That wouldn't work to many homeless are violent criminals or crazy". One word. Security. Shoot I'd pay to live in these 9 hour capsules. I'd buy a capsule out for myself, and rent it out when I didn't use it.

  • well, as an American, Im sold.

  • A whole hour showering?!

  • @TomPhilip92 Well, with time to get dry and changed as well. It's only roughly worked out. And they have to be generous, I imagine.

  • I would definetly pay for this in the US. With prices generally around $22 in capsules vs. $120 in american rooms a night? sign me up! although the bathing together thing WOULD be a little embarrasing

  • @GothVamp669 you get your own shower stall just like you get your own stall when taking a poop in a bathroom. no one will see you and you can get dressed before leaving the stall. Whats embarrassing about that? It's not like the army where you got one shower with a bunch of shower heads. Oooooo maybe that's why it took them so long to let gays in the military???

  • @GothVamp669 OMG somebody other than you might see your penis!

  • @mashedperderders OMG somebody might desire a little more privacy than you!

  • @mashedperderders .....I'm a girl.

  • @GothVamp669 NOT FOR LONG

  • in america there would need to be fat ass sized capsules

  • @stuipidnerd2 lmao

  • Okay will you also get a poral gun? :D

  • I wish we had capsule hotels in the US.

  • I hope this amazing this spreads throughout Japan, and the world.

  • Looks like a high-class Auschwitz...

  • @SuperTruth77 umm its just a hotel where you sleep....

    you dont get gassed lol.

  • Sorry,But I like my sleep.

  • I like the idea of having just the basic amenities: a pillow to lay my head and a shower to wash up in. However, it would not appeal to most Americans, who are often in a "me me me" mindset and would be appalled at the idea of communal bathrooms and pod-sized living spaces.

  • i need more than 7 hours of sleep, fuck that.

  • @TheWhiteDreamsOfLife looooooooooool

  • 70% of Americans would be to fat to in one of the Capsule, they would need to be redesigned

  • @sk12309 An average capsule's is 6.5 ft in length and 4 ft in width. If you're the Undertaker, Kane or Big Show, then you'd have problem getting in.

  • I would love to stay in it but I think it should stay in Japan. I don't think it would fit here well in the U.S.

  • Most Japanese concepts do not attract western corporations.

Japanese inventions are often times extreme in imagination.

The western culture appreciates luxury and convenience, while the Japanese veer towards more evolutionarily practical and innovative concepts. The Japanese have always been more open to change.

They invest in gadgets a lot more than any other culture in the world.

The Japanese are good with preserving their culture alongside modern society.

  • Yeah I can think of one reason why this might not take off in America or other Western countries. Our waistband size. Hell it would work over there just fine since people are a bit thinner then us Westeners. I'm a bit on the heavy side my self. (6 feet at 268 lbs) and I know I might not really fit inside one of those things as well as a person with a much thinner profile.

  • 42,55€ per day - no way :P

  • i prefere to stay insouth east asia (i'm in cambodia) i'm not a marien soldat. 1hour shower+ 7 hours sleep+1hours rest??? ahahahah 'cmon people i never look my watch actually and fortunall and i don't even have one...

  • should be 10 hours, 8 hours is what Doctors recommend for sleep

  • @awesomesana 6 actually

  • "Go to your address bar, after the word YOU and before the word TUBE, type in "win" then press enter"

  • lol looks like from that bruce willis movie 5th element. I would so go there though but will bring a taser for sure. Just in case.

  • every airport should have one, cost effective, space saving, does the job.

  • can you only stay there for 1 day

    van you come back

  • Now, TO THE AIRPORTS!

  • always loved this concept, however it will never work in america where so many people are obese :D

  • @satisflymysoul And those who are claustrophobic.

  • @31operafan that's obvious

  • I think this would be perfect for people waiting at the airport on a troubled flight. Let say your snowed in and you need a place to just sleep. CAPSULE HOTEL. Right next or in an airport.

  • I could see this hotel (if you can call it that) being used at international hotels, especially in situations where passengers are delayed or a flight is canceled due to what ever reason and they have to stay longer than anticipated. It would be a reasonable alternative to spending a night at a conventional hotel.

  • O__e I don't know if I want to sleep right next to a stranger. What if they snore or laugh or talk on their phone or whatever?

I still don't get the 9 hour thing, do you really have limited time to shower, sleep, and all that? If you sleep 9 hours, will you get kicked out?

  • I stayed in this hotel in Kyoto in November. It was $50 per night, very clean. I heard people snoring occasionally but it was not very loud because they have good soundproofing. Someone asked if the roller screen is lockable - no, it isn't. But, you don't keep your valuables in the capsule anyway. There is a separate locker in the locker room for your stuff. The only problem I had with this hotel is your personal storage area is quite small and on a different floor.

  • this is very interesting. definitely efficient for business trips.

  • Will there be a problem if someone on the other capsule should snore loudly?

  • BAAAAH! Is this disturbing to anyone else?!?? This picture of "efficiency" kinda reminds me of a deep level of inferno...

  • i would love to spend a night here!

    it's beautiful!

  • Thanks for posting this! I love capsule hotels, and this upscale version looks amazing. I really hope they end up in America soon!

  • how much is it?

  • how much is it?

  • I think this would be great for nyc as long as it is well maintained... hotels in nyc are overpriced and dirty.

  • @oceangust

Am doing a project on the 9hr capsule.

Would share your experiences at 9hr if you have stayed in there?

How is it different from other capsule hotels in Japan?

  • bring this to new york city. it would be PERFECT

  • @lololzak

  • @lololzak

    - Lines would be backed up due to people too stupid to understand what a picture means.

    - Lawsuits would ensue due to sexism and not being accommodating enough for certain groups of people.

    - Some associations would probably have too many standards to meet that wouldn't align with the infrastructure, design, etc.

  • innovative... but i wonder if the design and concept is that enough to atract and keep customers all the time and working the whole week.

  • @Prakashrodrigues1 i guess i woudnt be the right guy to ask this, try the video uploader.

  • Americans need a small, medium, and large option with pods.

  • @MegaToren We do?

  • I could see that in Europe maybe, but definitely not in America anytime soon.

  • @bassman294 Yeah, we have truck stops for showers. We could sleep in our cars.
