Haruki Murakamis Norwegian wood brought me here and I have to say, that this song makes a lot more sense when I can join it to something. Norwegian wood is (in my opinion) one of the best books, its story is so strong. I was thrown off my ballance few weeks after I finished it and it made a great impact on me. This song was origionally about the death of Paul's mother. When she died, he stated, "What are we going to do without her money?" He later regreted it, realizing what he was saying. Anyhow, if you look anywhere on the internet about the history of the song 'Yesterday', You will find that it was just that Paul woke up one day with the song in his head. Nowhere have I seen it said that it was inspired by the death of his mother. Why don't we find out when Paul's mother died?
