Those combinations are really incredible when delivered with Val's ballistic strike methodology! I mean, I watched those same combinations from many different fighters and none of them are that fast, accurate and powerful with so much penetration feeling even on the pads. My eyes nearly popped out watching those combinations and you really need to be a long term martial arts practitioner to appreciate the difference, otherwise, they will look pretty much the same to you. Impressed!
Fantastic punching. Not very waveform-ey, but credit where it's due those were great punches nevertheless. It must be difficult adapting once you're used to less relaxed ways of doing things.
Hey, i got a question for you val!! when taking a strike do you tense the muscle or stay relaxed? can you explain in details how to take a strike? thx :)
Could you post a similar video with the pads held in a more realistic position? I would be interested to see how the strikes work against an opponent square on (not held out to the side like they are in this video allowing unrealistic power generation vfor close quarters and with too much telegraphing).
Mr Riazanov - thanks very much for putting this video up. So often I've seen people assert that Systema striking principles are "faked" or aren't useful for "real fighters". I think this shows otherwise. I reckon any pro fighter would benefit from training with a Systema master such as yourself.
@jonoderidder how does an elite professional kickboxer turned mma fighter hitting pads show anything.I look better than that on pads and I sure as hell cant fight like mcsweeney.
@billysue2 typically Systema practitioners have previous experience in other styles. But they stick with Systema once they find it. Its principles can meld with any style. Its unusual to see it used for sport fighting tho, its more for combatives.
McSweeney hitting pads isn't the point. (Nor is how hard you say you can hit) It's his endorsement of Systema and using Riazanov as a coach for MMA comps, and being successful. I suppose you know better than McSweeney what has been useful to him? lol
FAAAAAAAIL!!! this is so not a systema punch, systema punches are relaxed and are not tense look at the guy's posture its bent! not correct, thighs are tense and legs too, he also uses to punch with his body not an energy wave or whip-like this is incorrect.
these systema punches are subtle. You almost never see them and when you get it in the ribs the pain cuts thou your organs like a speed boat cuts through water and creates a wake
I have been considering Systema for some time now, while most of what I see from Ryabko is just learning how to move. In fact, I would compare it to Aikido, but not as pretty. I have only viewed his DVD's and I have a few friends who have trained systema before to help me apply the technique. Say what you want about Systema but Val's Ballistic striking is for real. It is like learning how to throw haymaker power in every punch you let loose.
excelent work, and no there is no systema guys claiming "death touch" stuff, if you dont understand it dont bea hater. This just proves how effective and versatile systema is, I dont have the pleasure to meet val but for what I´ve seen he is an excellent instructor and a very realistic systema practicioner. 5 stars! keep the good work!
most systema i have seen is a laughable hoax of fat guys preaching some death touch nonsense, but if what is presented here is actually systema presented correctly it appears to be pretty good. is this a hybrid of systema and sambo??
The Systema you see here comes from the 'laughable hoax of fat guys preaching some death touch nonsense". The fat guy you're talking about is Mikhail Ryabko, and Val Riazanov is a student of Mikhail Ryabko.
Val..i have your ballistic striking dvd's and i just started training with Vladimir Vasiliev..systema is awesome..i've done some boxing and muay thai and in a recent session with a thai boxing coach he couldn't believe how hard i hit the pads with every strike and i'm only 5'4..he said he'd never want to get hit by what i was throwing, but he didn't understand it was ballistic striking! You've changed my life forever! Thank you
no systema students are not allowed to punch tense, all those strikes are loose, they just don't seem that way because of how quick he is throwing them.
So... relaxed punching? How good would it work on a boxing match?

yea relax striking with the weight of the arm

May be loose, but there is some serious speed & power going on there for his size
dazusmaximus 3 years ago
yes because his arm is loose, you have the same potential, size doesn't matter so much.

he is quick, but only because his arms are loose. I practice this martial art myself and hands that quick are not uncommon with those who study it.
