As someone who is studying school counseling, the social anxiety is definitely a hard thing to do. We all have our own "issues" and we all find ways to cope. Unfortunately coping may not mean healing. I would suggest you to go see a professional counselor (see if alumni can benefit from your school's psychological services) and discuss this. It was brave of you to share that with us though.
If you ever need someone to talk to, please inbox me and I'll try my best to help! :)
@AsianChexMix Yeah. I went to my school's counseling services for about 2 years when I was there. Unfortunately due to my current location and finances, I couldn't continue using the services though it was helpful enough to leave me with some coping mechanisms. Thanks for offering the help though :D
@saintxio Help/support groups? They sometimes have those for free perhaps at local churches or whatever. Maybe that can help. I mean groups like AA and such are free so I don't see why not. Where are you located? Maybe I can help you find some and get back to you on it. :)
Yeah I could never do yoga either! Tried a couple of times and big time fail!
I have lots of odd social anxieties as well. Can't make eye contact for long, very stressed out in social interaction, etc. It sucks. Us introverts need to stick together...from a distance, lol!
I totally like your point about how weight loss can be the biggest positive in your life. It is for mine right now. It actually injects happiness into an otherwise pretty dreary situation, but that's a long story!
@weightlossfordudes Funny thing is that before I joined the WLC, I was a part of a social anxieties community. But, as one might expect, most of the members were too shy to do much intereaction within the forums and whatnot. But I like getting your feedback, even as an introvert. :D
@saintxio No problem. I'm sure there is a spectrum of difficulty out there. It affects me and I certainly feel stress due to it, but so far in my life it has not completely shut me down to where I couldn't function (sometimes pretty close though). I'm surprised though that in an online forum there was still that much reticence. Usually the anonymity/distance of the internet lowers barriers and fear, or at least so I thought.
