so what limits the rev on an engine? the springs/valves right? so if u get light weight valves and stronger springs, is that enough to raise the safe redline?
@chillincruisin there are a number of factors, including what you metioned, but the biggest player is stroke. Shorter stroke equals higher SAFE redline. It's about piston speed in this case.
looks like a k series tach though oh well nice build i got an ls/vtec eagle rods cp pistons fully balanced rotating assembly ferrera titanium valve train stock cams skunk2 intake act 8.8 flywheel stage2 act clutch cusco lsd lol and hondata i can rev 10 i hope but ill be shifting at 8500 just to take care of it for now
THeres really no point in revving that high if you dont make any power up there. He has an after market cam so might rev higher but i think the stock B16B cam stops making power past 9500
peak power dont mean shit. when you drag race, or any type of race, you always red line, otherwise you aren't getting the full potential of your motor. Two friends of mine had the SAME EXACT CAR, STOCK, and went to the track. The first one shifted at "peak power", ran a 15.8, the other, shifted at red line, running a 14.6. Now you tell me, which one is better to do?
p.s. 10,000 is possible, its just not stock though.
ever heard of floating a valve? stock valvetrain isnt ment to be redlined like that...look it up the specs on any car..peak power is usually about 400-600 less rpms than redline..you would need to change the cam for it to keep pulling as hard
I'm not saying that peak power goes to red line, I never said that at all in any of my posts.
2 2008 Nissan Sentra SPEC-V SIR's. My one friend said redlining is bad, just like you, and he ran a measly 15.5, my sohc 1993 del sol runs 15.9 stock, that's sad. My other friend, who red lined, the way you are supposed to drag race, ended up with a 14.5 best time.
Shifting at peak power puts you back down out of your power band in the next gear, which is BAD for 1/2 mile times. Try it yourself.
The b series usally makes it's peak just before red! Anyway people that do this usally swope out the cams and remapped the ECU so they have a higher peak power range.
ya i believe that the B16's have a plate attached to the block to allow high RPM's. The plate allows for less twisting and warping of the block......but my rx7 would still take ya...;)
when the heads built right and you got strong pistons rods crank shaft and a strong sleeve and theyre all light enough you can rev past 10K! 9K is where the tach ends and it went way past the end lol.
double valve springs and lightend flywheel. and skunk2 intake and throttle body but with standard compression ratio and rods and pistons for the b16a2. NO TURBO
S2R s2 cams are only meant to run to 9000rpm if that and that's on a itr b18c engine. the vtec cross over doesn't really seem that much better that an stock b16a2 engine. I'm sayin this because S2R s2 cam have almost the same profile as the stock non-vtec lobe and the vtec lobe has a much higher lift. this make for a strong vtec cross over point. but he prob has a chipped ecu that has changed his rev limiter. he want be making any power at that kind of rpm anyway, not with a stock b16 block
how do you get it to rev to 10 G's? Was it cams, valve springs, crank, and compression ratio?

.......... bad idea. dont waste expensive shit like that for the sake of a video. give it to me instead.

@kingdomboost so just destroke the engine and strengthen the springs and you've raised the safe rev?

peak power is at 7500 with stock. the only reason i can see to keep revving is the bring up the revs for the next gear...

Unless it`s fitted with good cams and right cam timing. With those two you can adjust at what rpm the peak power kicks in.
