I don't know how many times I've watched this (<200 times) but the acting on JL's part from 0:50 - 0:54 .....freakin' amazing!! I love how both actresses can speak VOLUMES without saying a word...beautiful to watch
I think after Liv told Nat that she would never do anything to get in the way of her being happy-Nat realized (at least at that pt. on a subconscious level) that if she were going to be happy- she would have to make some choices that weren't so safe but that she knew in her heart were right. "Wake up with you" sounds so nice...and the lyrics to the song "The things you thought you'd never do-they found you out-caught up with you.." Perfect!
While the acting was amazing all the way around, I also have to give major kudos to the director and camera folks for the porch scene. The way that was shot was just beautiful. IMO.

most depressed bride ever! She looks like she wants to die every time she talks about the wedding. That wedding is going to be pretty ridiculous. Still every scene is perfectly acted down to every last detail..I cant say it enough but CC&JL have a enormous amount of chemisty it almost seems effortless. Fun to watch!

I've always hated soap operas. I remember the disgustingly popular 'Luke&Laura' saga on General Hospital when I was in Jr. High. I occasionally had to suffer through them while visiting my grandmother. I hated soaps mostly because they were so exaggeratedly hetero--not so much as a fleeting homosexual thought among any of the characters, & the women were always fighting over men--conniving and contriving & cat-fighting. Nothing about soaps resonated for me...until now...
I love that Olivia & Natalia are questioning their feelings & that there is a robust character like Doris. People like this exist in the real world, intermingled among heterosexuals. Yet, this relationship of Otalia is hugely controversal--even among lesbians who have analyzed it to death. Olivia is a beautiful, strong, sometimes caustic, intense, sexy, womanly character. Some lesbians are struggling to define her, incorrectly calling her "butch." She's a TOP--perfect counterpart to Nat.
I've never seen such an unhappy bride as Natalia. Why is she going through with this, dammit. It should be simple: you marry because you're in love. Does she love Frank? No. She's said it several times, then what is her justification?? Makes no sense. I know she's afraid, but the answer isn't marrying some bozo of a man. I can't stand this tension anymore, it's driving me crazyyyyy!!! :)
i think cc has the most amazin eyes and how she uses them to show her emotions are just fantastic . im really hooked on the show and ive been writing emails to save the light. im not that much into soaps back home becouse they always copy storys and im just not that into them but i actually like guiding light i think olivia is just so funny and i hope they find a new home . go otalia

I can't help but see this clip as a huge turning point. Natalia sending Frank away, sitting with Olivia instead, talking about how she will miss her current routine, etc... she's really starting to come to terms with the idea that Olivia+Natalia=Happy... and nothing else is going to equal happy.
I think the end could be as this : the blonde woman will get ill again and on her last day at the hospital, the brunette will tell her : I love you ! But we could get lucky before the end of the year ! We could find a fresh new soap !
I was thinking the exact same thing the other day, I feel a sense of something happening that none of us Otalia fans will be ready for. Let's cross our fingers and hope that this soap will get picked up by another network. NO AMC they will destroy Otalia for sure.

Hi Uhaulhasaflatt! Not that I'm an expert in soaps but the storylines do not have to be shown everyday, although sometimes it is. So, the best way to know if Otalia will be on is to watch it everyday! (This helps with the ratings and we need them!!) :) But if you really want to know, the previews shown at the end will let us know if they'll be on the next day....

I don't think Olivia is ready any more than Natalia. If she was she would be talking to Nat instead of saying "I think you should marry Frank". That wasn't because she wants Nat to be happy it's because she's scared. She even told Doris so. When Liv is saying "I just want you to be happy" she's really saying "I HOPE you will be happy." Pushing Nat to a man she doesn't love isn't really selfless act. She did it because of her own fears and now she's regretting it, hence the drinking & the crying.

So now Olivia is helping plan the wedding? really liv? really? ugh it is hard for me to feel sorry for her when she keeps volunteering herself to a front row seat to heartbreak. why Olivia why are you doing this to yourself? no wonder nat continues to go along.
But that's the thing though, isn't it. This is how much Olivia has grown as a character. She's willing to do this even though it hurts herself so badly, because she thinks this is what is best of Natalia and what makes her happy. She's willing to give and give and give, no matter how much it hurts, because she thinks this will make it better for Natalia. It's not healthy, no, but it's kind of admirable that she's willing to put up with it to make Nat happy. Now that's true love.
That's right spacegoose, and what did Ann say? God is Love. There's something rolling around in my brain that I can't quite put my finger on about Liv deciding to shower Nat with love. Instead of being demanding and saying I love you, can you love me (as we all know Liv can be) she's going to show her that she loves her - show her that she can love. IF, and that's a big if, PGP doesn't find GL a new home...the show is still on the air until Sept 18th. There will be time for Otalia to be given a happy ending.

Also I think that when Natalia said "wake up here... with you"... the way she said with you, I think it just then occurred to her that it would not be Olivia she'd be waking up with in the future, but with Frank. And now that that's kind of in her mind, I think she's going to start to doubt truly if this is what she wants. She loves her routine and her life with Olivia and Emma, Frank can't give her this kind of happyness. So it's gonna start really sinking in...
Plus, Natalia is already trying to avoid Frank, good luck when she's married. Dude...
That's the one thing, I keep coming back to. Nat is so clearly not in love with Frank, and cleverly never really lies to him by saying how grateful she is to be loved so well. Never, an "I love you." to Frank.
Nat marrying Frank to me shows how strong her love for Liv is. Nat could just stay single, and turn Liv down when Otalia time came, but she knows she won't. Nat almost kissed Liv shows her love.
Olivia just went to her happy place when Natalia started to talk about her daily routine with her. And Frank can't make her laugh and be relaxed like Olivia can, like this. Oh the spontaneous hand holding in the beginning just killed me. I wish they'd just kiss already!

I think that Olivia and Natalia are scared to be close to each other. They are playing the timeless game of staying away so that they do not get close enough to just devour each other on the spot. I do feel really bad for Olivia because she has become such a good person because of Natalia's influence and now she has to watch as Frankenstein takes it all away.
Natalia is really starting to piss me off. What a coward! She obviously has feelings for Olivia, but she is also just waiting for the moment when Olivia is the one to confess to her first. Poor Olivia has tried and tried to let her feelings be known, with a bazillion interruptions. What ever happened to these two actually having real conversations? Weezyir, I complete see where you are coming from; but remember, this is the kind of stuff that soaps thrive on. Back when soaps actually cared, the Otalia-like story lines were running ramped. It's very normal to get pissed off at how everyone involved is acting. It's also normal to be confused half the time. It's what makes the story great. If they just threw these two together, then I'd really be worried.
I kinda agree with you and kinda not. I really think that day that Nat went to the church and prayed and took off her ring that it wasn't for Frank. I think she was ready to see where her "friendship" with Liv was going.
But it was Liv who had a moment of being scared and pushed Nat into saying yes.
If Nat didn't have "feelings" for Liv she wouldn't be marrying Frank at all.
Interesting that by Otalia not being honest about Nank they are admitting that they are afraid what will come out.
And in Nat's defense, Liv has been in love a lot more, so she knows the signs. I think Liv knows her heart better than Nat knows hers. I think Nat is in love with Liv, but her religion keeps her at bay. But not for long, I think Nat is strong enough to see that she can have both her religion and Liv.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day, I feel a sense of something happening that none of us Otalia fans will be ready for. Let's cross our fingers and hope that this soap will get picked up by another network. NO AMC they will destroy Otalia for sure.

Hi Uhaulhasaflatt! Not that I'm an expert in soaps but the storylines do not have to be shown everyday, although sometimes it is. So, the best way to know if Otalia will be on is to watch it everyday! (This helps with the ratings and we need them!!) :) But if you really want to know, the previews shown at the end will let us know if they'll be on the next day....

I think that it is very special to see that Olivia is taking care of the domestic chores in this clip and it is Olivia that makes the coffee to take to Natalia since we are used to Natalia being the "nurturing" one in the relationship
Also, have to say, that hand holding was quite something!!

watching this frustrates me. it doesn't look like these two will end up together. . . maybe i'm just being a pessimist this ep put me in a bad mood. Natalia irritated me with her state of denial. hope she doesn't wake up too late. well if frank's gonna be in a lot of these two's scenes i think I'll give it a miss. I'm already considering meds coz of the stress hahahaha

agreed. Frank scenes and any with Billy Lewis just sour the whole thing for me. Billy Lewis was eating in a scene a while back and I just couldn't take it. I DVRed the show so I could skip his face. He was snorting and smacking...ugh.

I rewatched that Billy Lewis clip and you're so right, Billy Lewis is so disgusting - rude, obnoxious and just yuck. Billy Lewis, Frank and the guy from Kings of Queen can have a cheap beer fest on their recliners and have crumbs stuck to their mouths while they chew with their mouths open.

I don't think Olivia is ready any more than Natalia. If she was she would be talking to Nat instead of saying "I think you should marry Frank". That wasn't because she wants Nat to be happy it's because she's scared. She even told Doris so. When Liv is saying "I just want you to be happy" she's really saying "I HOPE you will be happy." Pushing Nat to a man she doesn't love isn't really selfless act. She did it because of her own fears and now she's regretting it, hence the drinking & the crying.

But that's the thing though, isn't it. This is how much Olivia has grown as a character. She's willing to do this even though it hurts herself so badly, because she thinks this is what is best of Natalia and what makes her happy. She's willing to give and give and give, no matter how much it hurts, because she thinks this will make it better for Natalia. It's not healthy, no, but it's kind of admirable that she's willing to put up with it to make Nat happy. Now that's true love.

Instead of being demanding and saying I love you, can you love me (as we all know Liv can be) she's going to show her that she loves her - show her that she can love. Also I think that when Natalia said "wake up here... with you"... the way she said with you, I think it just then occurred to her that it would not be Olivia she'd be waking up with in the future, but with Frank. And now that that's kind of in her mind, I think she's going to start to doubt truly if this is what she wants. She loves her routine and her life with Olivia and Emma, Frank can't give her this kind of happyness. So it's gonna start really sinking in...

That's the one thing, I keep coming back to. Nat is so clearly not in love with Frank, and cleverly never really lies to him by saying how grateful she is to be loved so well. Never, an "I love you." to Frank.
Nat marrying Frank to me shows how strong her love for Liv is. Nat could just stay single, and turn Liv down when Otalia time came, but she knows she won't. Nat almost kissed Liv shows her love.

I think that Olivia and Natalia are scared to be close to each other. They are playing the timeless game of staying away so that they do not get close enough to just devour each other on the spot. I do feel really bad for Olivia because she has become such a good person because of Natalia's influence and now she has to watch as Frankenstein takes it all away.

Natalia is really starting to piss me off. What a coward! She obviously has feelings for Olivia, but she is also just waiting for the moment when Olivia is the one to confess to her first. Poor Olivia has tried and tried to let her feelings be known, with a bazillion interruptions. What ever happened to these two actually having real conversations? They are both just being superficial with conversation at this point--especially Natalia. Starting to think she's a bitch. (Though a sexy one..)

Weezyir, I complete see where you are coming from; but remember, this is the kind of stuff that soaps thrive on. Back when soaps actually cared, the Otalia-like story lines were running ramped. It's very normal to get pissed off at how everyone involved is acting. It's also normal to be confused half the time. It's what makes the story great. If they just threw these two together, then I'd really be worried.

I kinda agree with you and kinda not. I really think that day that Nat went to the church and prayed and took off her ring that it wasn't for Frank. I think she was ready to see where her "friendship" with Liv was going.
But it was Liv who had a moment of being scared and pushed Nat into saying yes.

If Nat didn't have "feelings" for Liv she wouldn't be marrying Frank at all.
Interesting that by Otalia not being honest about Nank they are admitting that they are afraid what will come out.
And in Nat's defense, Liv has been in love a lot more, so she knows the signs. I think Liv knows her heart better than Nat knows hers. I think Nat is in love with Liv, but her religion keeps her at bay. But not for long, I think Nat is strong enough to see that she can have both her religion and Liv.

Oh, come on, now...when two straight women fall in love, it's terrifying and uncharted terrain. If the love is deep enough, and the trust is there between them, they may find the courage to cross the boundaries that form their identities. Convention has a powerful allure--we all want "normal." If & when they do finally cross that line to be together--not as fantasy fulfillment for their hubs or boyfriends, but only for themselves--the benefits far outweight the risks...
