why'd they put harry potter in the 90s? yes j.k. rowling started writing the series in the 90s but pottermania didn't really take off as the big phenomenon that it eventually became until like 2001/2002ish

If ANYTHING should be banned by Christians, it's "His Dark Materials" as the author is just pushing his Aetheist beliefs and villanizing Catholics. Besides, "Harry Potter" was backed by Pope John Paul II.
And it's sad Elian is being used as a tool by the Cuban government. I think it's time democracy took over as communism is a useless ideal.
@LaDracul I'm a Christian and i'm not a supporter of any literature getting band. Everyone has their own opinions and whether I agree with it or not has a right to express them. I never thought the "Divinci Code" was that amazing of a book but people love controversy.
I got hooked on Harry Potter in 99. I remember watching the Oscars that year and getting started on Sorcerer's Stone that same night. Of course I live in a hick town where the right wingers tried to get the movie taken out of the theater when it first hit.
I feel so weird that Ricky Martin admitted he's gay recently, because back in 1999, I actually felt a little something for him! And I'm usually straight!
