That's one way to make a low rider. What might have helped that handle a turn even reasonably well is all the concrete - keeping the overall center of gravity down low.

I know a guy who strapped much less to his car roof, but down the centreline rather than resting over the columns. He managed to drive it almost all the way home without a problem, but when he went over a small speedbump the roof caved in! (..Which is why roofracks transmit their weight through the columns, obviously. What a plonker.)
