What's your problem? If I did care more about size I wouldn't even be searching for a gaming laptop in the FIRST PLACE. There are many cheaper alternatives than apple. Like I said, I am searching for a laptop which can handle the latest games easily and doesn't have the thickness of the Clevo x7200. One more thing, my username doesn't correspond to my intelligence level.
Does this laptop feel too 'thick' I want this, but since it's using the state-of-the-art components, it's gonna at least have a decent height - right?
@PokemonBakuganFreak Idiots obsessing over laptop size. It's a gaming laptop, size doesn't matter here. If you care about size, go waltz over to apple.
@Nicro327 Size matters to ME. I don't intend using this as a desktop replacement, but a portable form factor notebook which can cut through the latest games like a hot knife through butter. Anyone who buys an apple laptop for gaming is officially an idiot (you).
@PokemonBakuganFreak I never said apple is used for gaming. I said if you care about size more than quality go by a mac. Apple is not used for gaming, you're the idiot for assuming so. I assure you I am not the idiot here. You are,"PokemonBakuganFreak."
im getting this laptop with the nVidia GeForce GTX 560M 1,536MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11. Also im getting enough upgrades to get the 100$ off bonus , 200$ "Matte Type Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Screen" my favorite thing about his screen selection is that it comes with 3D and glasses. the i7 2.2-3.1 GHz, 8GB ram, standart 500G 72000rpm, blu-ray drive, Intel® Ultimate-N 6300, it also says it comes with a case ( thats helpful), and windows 7 HP
Would I be able to play Dead Island at decent settings with the Sager NP8170, if I had the ATI Radeon 6990M, and the Core i7 2720QM possessor? Please reply!
@Lethalhammer Yeah, I really love the P170! I plan on getting it very soon. It has that "grown-up" clean aesthetic that I wouldn't mind taking anywhere while surprising people with its hidden power!
Lethalhammer, I was wondering if i should go for the i7-2920XM with 750 gb 7200 rpm hard drive, or if I should go for a 120 gig solid state drive with the i7-2820, and a second 500 gigabyte hard drive? which one would be better and why?
@jamesluc256 mechanical drives are traditional hard drives, the one's a motor and disks. solid states drives are not mechanical they rely on NAND flash to operate. if your budget it $3050! you have so many options. that's a lot of cash to drop on a computer. what do you want a laptop or a desktop kind computer? becuase that much money can get a you a very very powerful custom desktop tower like pc
@KlingonSpider Well, the problem is, I already have a desktop. What I need now is portability. I couldn't live with the idea of having to sit in a corner in my room for 2 hours to play games anymore. It just gives me feelings of anxiety. So I need something that I can move around with often enough.
People keep on asking why anyone would replace a desktop with a laptop like this. If you have a laptop that plays every single game you need it to with good performance, does not take up a lot of room space, has no cables, does not need a screen or keyboard and can be taken anywhere you wish to game, I think the question is why wouldn't you?
Want to get this lap and want to keep the cost down, think it better to go for the 6970 or the intel 510 120gb ssd, the 460m is probably more then capable of playing everything at high atleast. Opinion?
Nice man, i liked your review and benchmarks, check out my channel as well i've done some similar videos, i have the slightly budget version of your laptop that i plan to upgrade slowly over the future.
@nik6069 If you think Alienware is badass you need to do a bit of research. Alienware has lagged behind in the laptop space for years. They do not even offer a laptop with Nvidia's highest end GPU. It's sad really... Safer is at the top ofthe game in design, quality & offerings.
@iloveshutdo At the same time, there is a lot of people that have problem with the laptop for that amount of money. In addition they say the costumer service is as good as the laptop currently. I love the Alienware but damn they are scaring the crap out of me to buy their product. This laptop is far better even with the crappy look ='(
just want to point out Alienware do offer the top specs stuff, but of course in a much higher price range. I just ordered a NP8150 myself from Xoticpc.
theres that review i was looking for! you plan on doing temps in one of your videos? I'm curious to see how cool this laptop can keep the new i7 laptop cpus as well as that monster gpu.
I got a new job and was forced to part put my desktop. I will rebuild a new system when the time comes... But for now I had to downsize. Yes desktops are more powerful but this laptop plays all current games at top settings without issues. People should know hitting 60 FPS on games like BFBC2 is satisfactory for the time being.
SSDs are expensive. I have 2x cheaps ass HDDs in RAID 0 and they're satisfyingly fast. Once you're in Windows everything loads relatively quick. Plus, im sure you'll find 12gb a lil too much. I got 6gb in my I7 setup, never saw my system going past 3-4gb, thats when i was playing Crysis and running shit loads apps in the background.
@bigdima3 The new Sata 6.0 drives allow 450MB transfer speeds in non raid. I wanted to avoid a raid setup in my laptop. I do slit of video work and rendering and my system has utilized up to all 12GB of ram. I don't just play games. Also it was only a $30 upgrade from 6GB to 12GB so really it was a no brainer.
@bigdima3 first of all, it's easy to build a quite computer. second, what does a clean desktop have to do with anything? also, the performance on this is soooo much lower than a desktops potential. why would you REPLACE this with a desktop??? i would love to have this for traveling (duh...) but no to replace my gaming PC. and the whole fun of desktops is building your PC.
@gumberly to be upfront I did not buy this system for its battery life as this system is a true desktop replacement. but I have the system running now on battery with BFBC2 for an hour so far and it says it has 30min left on battery.
@bigdima3 Well that depends on what you running with the memory. 2000MHz memory is going to allow you to get better clocks on your CPU, and utilize all the fast tech built in with i7 technology.
@brandonsexywhitaker Some of us have no need for a powerful gaming desktop. For me, I play more older games than newer ones and this laptop allows me to max all of them as well as some of the more current ones. Sometimes convenience and space are more valuable than brute force power.
a very nice reviews, thanks!!
