I used the NutriMill to mill grains but this is just a food processor (can't mill rolled oats due to the oil already pressed out). Contact us if you are interested in a mill. millersgrainhouse (at) gmail (dot) com

Sorry the answer took so long in coming..I'm not getting youtube notices of comments for some reason.
My favorite use of oatmeal is to mix it with a little butter and flour into a crumble and put it as a topping of peaches or apples. You just add a little flour to the fruit and sitr, add the topping and bake until the oats are brown. I also use oats as a facial but that's another topic. LOL
Thanks so much. I've been putting the whole oats into my liquidizer. I can't, for the life of me, get the finer oats here and we love it for breakfast porridge. I ground it, but always wondered : ) I need to be careful with the liquidizer (blender, I think you call it), as it can turn the oats to powder very quickly. I like your idea of making up your meatloaf for freezing. That's an impressive-looking slab you have there ; )
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! I'm always looking for ways to use things that are 'out of the norm' - and oats in meatloaf make sense to me!
The Blender works well for many items other than liquids - just (like you said) have to watch over chopping in it!
Great informative video. I never knew the difference between whole oats and quick cooking oats was so easy. It will save me money. Thanks for making the video.
Oats ARE one of the oiliest grains (and don't mill in a NutriMill). Oat GROATS are the WHOLE grain from which one process step gives us rolled oats. The oil has already begun to absorb some into the starchy part of the grain. Still minimal processing and no additives. The 'whirr' in the processer simply makes the cooking liquid absorb faster. All grain (once cracked from the hull) should be stored in an air-tight container in a cool, dark place.
i do process them into powder but i use them straight away n mix with whole wheat flour n make pancake if i wanna somethin new, oh ya if wanna thicken stock can add oat
Ah yes! Now those are also good ways to make use of one type of oats! Oat flour for pancakes and thickening! Great additions to the video topic.Thank you.
You know, you just saved me money tomorrow. I had both "old fashioned oats", which I use in my baking, meatloaf, etc. and I had "quick oats", which we use for making oatmeal, on my grocery list. Well, unless they have my favorite flavored instant oatmeal as a "buy one get one free", I'm not going to be buying any quick or instant oats. And it's rare that they place Banana Nut Bread oatmeal on sale.
I think you'll be happy trying them. You can add some season/extract as they cook to make you're own version of a favorite. 1/2 a really ripe banana (mushed or cut), some walnut or pecans, and maple syrup or brown sugar, dash of cinnamon/nutmeg. Give it a try!
Since it is part of my home business - I buy it for our online store. Some is personal inventory other is sold. The link to the store is over there in the 'more info' part-->
I have some contacts and ideas if you are looking to buy in bulk like that, I'd be happy to help!
Can you please tell us the name of the products you are using for milling and kneading the bread! Tx!
