Gren just says he's not interested in women; that could mean he's gay (and for me, I sort of thought it implied he felt something for Vicious), or it could just mean he doesn't feel comfortable with women since his hermaphroditization (?), and that he's actually straight.

@Timeforthaunted I don't believe he ever DIRECTLY stated his orientation in the episode; I'm pretty sure it was left ambiguous. The closest I remember it getting to is "I'm not interested in women" which does not necessarily mean "I am only sexually and/or romantically attracted to men." For all we know, that could even point to asexuality. Good day.

Yes, yes, Gren is gay. He said women aren't his style, and about the boobs? He went to prison where he was forcefully given a highly addictive drug that messes with your hormones. In other words, his estrogen levels were too high after that and he developed breasts. Estrogen does not change the pitch of one's voice, so yes.

I don't understand why the author had to create such random twist to the character.

I think the story would have been just fine without it,

And it may have been sexier instead of awkward to see Faye barge into the shower.

Even the whole factor about his medicine testing is pretty futile.

@Iamoldenough92 From what I remember of this two-parter episode, it did seem significant to his character because he's much more sympathetic when he dies. Also, I'm sure the writers thought this was an interesting aversion from a perfect set-up to a sexy scene.

Not to mention, almost no characters in this anime are normal...they all have some form of an unfortunate past.

About vicious: If you look at the pictures in the room, you can see gren was pretty much a happy kid and had great childhood/adulthood until he met Vicious. Vicious probably meant alot to him what spike once meant for V. He found a brother,friend and was betrayed by a post-vicious(after spike's betrayal, thus pushing him into the "nothing to believe" state )

No, the relationship between Gren and Vicious was the same as the one between Spike and Vicious; a relationship of betrayed trust since both Gren and Spike looked up to Vicious. Gren wasn't gay; the only reason he denied faye's advances was that he was trying to hide his body; clearly he flirted with her and several Gren POV shots emphasize certain areas of Faye's body, making it clear he was checking her out.
