Have you ever played this with a guitar-player or some such chord-changing accompaniment? Any idea of good changes that work with it? I'm getting some good ideas from the Camp Creek Boys recording, but I'd love another opinion or two.
My wife and I play tunes together (have a look at our Julianne Johnson video) and I would to work this one up in that setting...
pretty good dude.i am just learning how to play clawhammer. it's tough, first instrument i am learning how to play, but just taking it one step at a time.
Cool, I always swore I hated it and country music when I was younger, now I play both, lol I was inspired after learning it is basically "THE" American folk instrument. I also like to think of it as an agent for peace and unity, being from Africa and then shared with and further developed by both Africans and Europeans in America and now played worldwide.
my uncle plays clawhammer, and i just sort of grew up listening to it on cassettes, etc. and a while after id started playing guitar i thought "hey, why not try the banjo?" so i did.
yes. Bob carlin's fiddle tunes for clawhammer banjo has some great tunes and there is a which does not come with it but is avaliable on itunes etc that has most of the songs. also there is bob fleshers old-time clawhammer tablature. not sure if these are still in print or not, but its worth a look.
Very nice. I'm learning this from the Krassen book right now. Is this your source? Riley Baugus plays a fantastic version you can hear on banjo newsletter site. Simon
