i luv morel. when i play this piece i don't tend to think about getting all the notes perfectly vioced and executed cuz i like the rough sound a lot more. latin music really seems comes to life in my opinion when you play with as much feeling as posible, if its sad play really sad, if its energetic like this then just go for it and dont worry about the mistakes!

I met and had dinner with Jorge quite a few years ago. Great guy, very funny. He has a very hard tone, quite old fashioned compared to the new , fuller toned sound. Great composer for the guitar though. Check out Russell playing his stuff!!!

its awesome how many interpretations of a piece other musicians can do. As for Morel, he played it perfectly. Who are we to judge such a performance. I think the tone of the guitar and the RAW sound reflects some cultural authenticity. This is no Bach, but something meant to be heard on the streets.

I was given his album `a warm guitar`in 1967 at the age of 10 and recently decided to look for him in here .His version od spanish dance #5 has a unique ending

C'mon guys, have you no idea of what is the brasilian music about? It's pasion, fire, instinct and intuition, not precision, control. You must hear the brazilian drums in the background when you listen to this piece. And talking about the feeling, there's a lot of feeling, folklore burst in Morel's interpretation, and even if you may prefer to play this in classical way, I think this piece is not to be played as a Giulliani's sonatina. Enjoy this record as it is a master performance.

So this is Morel, the composer... What a disapointement when I hear him playing his own piece. This can be played with so much more feeling! The best interpretation of 'Dansa Brasilera' I heard is played by David Russell, one of worlds most talented and virtuous classical guitarists. You can hear a much more lyric, virtous version of 'Dansa Brasilera' on his CD 'Aire Latino', which won a Grammy a few years ago.

David Russell is a friend of mine - greatest guy in the world, great musician. But he is completely wrong in his groove on this piece...it is "so square!" Jorge, even now at his age is the only guy that has the balls to play this piece correctly. Maybe he drops a few notes but good musicians get it. David and others play it like a metronome, with no feeling. That is my opinion and it should be your as well.
