@g4bandit that's the problem with SAW in the airsoft world. After checking out Airsoft GI the M249 is $350, and if I want the mk48 look I need to dish out more $130 for a top RIS. The lower RIS is 110. Feeding cover with RIS mount is $160.

And the darned box mag is >$50, some of  those reaching 100.

The problem is that milsim doesn't let you paint a box green, attach a hicap and use it on a M16. It's also lighter so the SAW could run fast like light infantry.

@g4bandit Thing is that here on "Youroup" we have different mindsets. Everyone in the field would have to pursuaded to agree with a M16 SAW, and I admit I wouldn't feel right using it if I had to.

There's other issue. The gearbox. To this day, I still don't know if a SAW gearbox is just a rearrangement of the components or if it was built for sustained firing.

Firing a good ammount of box mags in a 24h game would put some stress onto a regular AEG, me thinks.

I trust mine. But if you REALLY don't trust the cardboard, buy the real cardboard box mag. It's a good replacement, and it's wax coated so water just beads off. Or wrap yours in duct tape.
