  • how-come-thier-are-d40lfrs-on-the-w4-isn't-the-w4-a-blandensburg-bus

  • strange seeing this bus C40LFs at PG. The reason it's a W4 is because Southeast Division closed and they usually ran that route with Orion 5s. Now Bladensburg was given the W4, V7, V8, ?M5 or the M bus that goes to Potomac Station. So now C40LFs, C40LFRs and Orion VIIs run that now

  • Correction C40LFs been on the W4 even before the southeastern closed it used to be mostly Annex buses on the weekdays and the southeastern ran the W4 on the Weekends. The "M" bus you are talking about was the M6 which Bladensburg no longer operates this route I live on that now and used to live on the Southeastern line also.

  • are you sure we're talking about the same route. I can't even remember the W4 operating on weekends ever and I mean going back to the 80s. At one point I thought Metro had ceased with the W4 cause I wasn't seeing them when I rode the A12, F8, or F2. I can't ever remember Blade operating M6 even before Green line was completed(it was a much longer & different route). M6, if I recall, was either Southeast or Landover. Southeast was located on 8th street by Navy Yard Metro. They had no C40LFs.

  • The W4 always operated on weekends (and still does) when the Southeastern was open and did the W4 but it doesn't go to Capitol Plaza on weekends, Blade did the M6 AFTER the southeastern closed but it doesn't operate it anymore, Annex does the M6 and the W4 and Blade does the W4 on weekdays during rush only. Landover does not operate the M6 or the W4 the Annex division.

  • thanks, I think you're right. W4 on weekends ends at Deanwood or something, does it not? not Cap.Plaza. I got everything else you're saying. Tell me how the D40LFR's (6100s) are split between Landover & Annex. I remember a few days chatting about some regular D40LFRs being transferred to Montgomery in exchange for some suburbans. So Blade operates W4 weekdays and Annex on weekends. I rarely go to Cap Plaza(all Walmart) anymore. The old R12 went straight thru Deanwood to Addison Road.

  • Bladensburg only does the W4 sometimes during rush hour.

  • i remember when the C40LF were new i always wanted to ride them and they were all over DC

  • did that bus have a Cummins C gas+ engine with the Alison B400R Tranny? Or was it the John Deree 6081H engine with the Alison B400R tranny?

  • that bus had a Cummins C gas. Only the C40LFs 2460-2464 the last of the C40LFs at Blade have John Deere's. I was curious about this too because I saw one of the 2460s broken down about four or five years ago and the back gate to the engine was popped and the huge lettering JOHN DEERE was on the engine. Much like you see JOHN DEERE written on their famous lawn mowers and tractors.

  • And also because they have a different union.

  • I think so. I'm not sure. I know they did the Orion VII's

  • thx

  • im thinking bout being a wmata driver

  • Me too. But I'm no where near the age yet.

  • same...but for Ride-On

btw is the W4 a Southeast or Bladensburg route? I know that's a Bladensburg bus but it's possible that since Southeast closed that Bladensburg has the W4.

  • Yup Bladensburg does the W4. I think Southern Ave does that route too.

  • It was Southeastern (Weekends only), Bladensburg and Annex. Now Annex and Bladensburg does the W4.

  • @Annex4421 Alfonzia about to do the X2

  • when???

  • @Annex4421 soon as i get the money

  • @Annex4421 In June
